This video is a good reminder for us to think about what we put in our bodies. I am a vegan and this makes me think about reducing the amount of vegan junk food I consume and concentrate on whole food plant based products. Thanks for the reminder !

As much as I think it’s great to want to feel better and be more aware of what you eat, there is a fine line between awareness and obsession. I only say this because I’ve dealt with an eating disorder for many years and have many friends who have too. Reading labels constantly can do more harm mentally than people think. Balance is the key and every ingredient that you can’t pronounce is not bad.

This is an incredibly important comment and I couldn’t agree more. I thought I’d gotten rid of my decade long eating disorder a few years ago, only to realise I’d simply swapped it for “clean eating”. I still obsessed, just not over calories but over ingredients and clean eating. I was still vilifying food and fuelling my destructive behaviour. It started out with awareness and ended up in illness. It’s really, truly tricky to stay on the right side.
@DC-tv9fj
@DC-tv9fj 3 года назад
I think it's sad that we experience pressure or get to a place of obsessing about food. It partially comes from the fact that there are now things in it that we can't pronounce. There was a time (roughly 80-100 years ago, I think) when food was just food. It was only one ingredient or you mixed together a bunch of 1 ingredient items and chemists weren't involved. I can certainly see how it is easy to become obsessive about this or any other thing that has to do with your health. Because, let's face it this world certainly isn't looking out to help you be healthier.

@@endeavouringit and all I’m saying is It doesn’t matter if you like them or not. They grow and protect her hair and she’s beautiful either way. Girls (regardless of color) are usually very insecure about their hair and young girls don’t need people like you adding to those insecurities by saying “I don’t like ....etc” you could have commented that you loved Belle’s hair and literally left It at that. The ending was unnecessary . There is a lot of people who are afraid to even get braids because of opinions from people like you, but braids do so much for their hair . So if belle feels the need to add a little color to feel more confident wearing the style.... LET HER!

It’s great to be aware of what goes in your food. But be careful what you are vilifying... just because it’s something you can’t pronounce doesn’t mean it is bad for your body and one ingredient doesn’t automatically mean healthier. It just depends on what your goals... I personally don’t drink or eat milk products b/c my body has an inflammatory response to them... so one ingredient or not... still not healthy for my body.

Ha! I was gonna say to add salt to the one-ingredient pot for it to taste better. When you’re used to eating stuff with lots of salt it takes a bit to adjust the taste buds to a healthier amount of salt. So even adding salt to the one-ingredient is still better. Just don’t use Morton’s bc they add an anti-caking agent so the salt doesn’t clump.

This video made a really big impact on me! I definitely didn’t think your journey would be so significant for me but we are on our way to start using one ingredient foods in our home too. Thanks so much for sharing this ❤️🙏🏽

I read the labels between carnation and Walmarts great value to see if their the same, great value had an extra ingredient bio engineering. I decided that I’ll pay the extra for carnation brand. This is my son's favorite and freezes really well: I use a bag of T.Js Frozen, skinless thighs (Thawed) seasoned with Seasoned Salt, Chili Pwd, Smoked Paprika, Cumin and Ground Pepper. It takes about 2 hours on high in my crock pot. I add a lb of cooked navy beans made with a large diced onion, 5 large cloves of garlic and salt and lots of pepper.(I make these ahead.) ADD 3 cans of ALDI"s "roasted tomatoes" (Don't use Walmart's) and 3 cans of Aldi's diced ortega chilis. Add more chili powder to taste. I also add oregano and let it simmer for about an hour. Top with cheese, sour cream and avocado if any of those are handy. (This only tastes right when using thighs) It is my go-to budget meal. Less additives- lots of lean protein.
