I was surprised by the 1-4g/kg carb recommendation before exercise. I think I never eat this amount. To be honest the range is also quite big. Then you might also consume carbs during and after training. Most amateur athletes are at the lower end of this spectrum I'd guess.

Yes, the range seems big, and the upper end involves consuming a lot! The bigger the athlete, the higher up in the range they would likely be. Whereas a small athlete would likely struggle with higher amounts. Some people train their gut to cope with higher amounts by practising ingesting increasing amounts during training. Still, I think that if what you're doing now works well, stick with it. 💪
