On Day 6 of our Atlantic Crossing, we finally find our groove and settle. The relief is incredible for everyone, including our buddy boats.
So for the first time since we left Cape Verde, we cook, we clean the boat and we even change our watch schedule to get better rest.

Sweet series guys, been hoping for a daily vlog of the crossing for years. Great to get a sense of the rhythm of the day. Ryan: no shame in being tired and a little grumpy when you’re under the pump and concerned for everyone’s safety. Anything less and you wouldn’t be taking this seriously enough. You make a great team, been a pleasure to watch and looking forward to the rest of the journey.

Seems like a windvane self steering would help power usage and oversteer which exacerbates bad motion. In the mean time I would lower sensitivity on AP. It looks like it is hunting/overshooting. You will save power and likely have smoother sail.

I can tell you're getting in the groove, you don't look like a car wreck. I made our egg breakfast like you did in the previous episode. Made a hole in thick brioche bread, dropped the bread into lots of butter and dropped the egg in the hole. I used Grueyere Cheese on top after flipping. My wife doesn't like bread but she loved this. Not sure if I like the gull-wing style of poled out sails it induces a lot of rolling. Maybe one of the down wind sails would be a better bet next time, what do you think? I have a Jeanneau 51 and The newer hull shapes are bringing wider flatter sections further back which helps to give more form stability under these conditions.

Anyway you can stay down cooking while rolling without getting seasick. I can spend hours in rough seas handling or being upstairs...but getting down can kill me in a second.

I was just thinking about that - its easy to stay awake to 3 and sleep long, and just as easy to get up at 3 and stay awake. To have 2-3 on/off sounds like torture...

We do that when we sail coastal and we really need to stay awake to look for ship traffic. Out on the ocean, the 6 hours rotation felt great :)

Think they have, but cameras, and laptops along with nav and and lights take their toll. However, if you have a tank full of dino juice why not use it once a day and make some warm water at the same time.

I have the same boat with the sane autopilot and a bit less solar panels and don’t have any problems charging up the batteries again on a multi day crossing, even when we charge up laptops. We were not going down wind and tend to turn the auto pilot sensitivity way down.

Maybe try two reefs in the main and sheeted tight to reduce rolling when running down wind on twin headsails .

I read where you are getting nasty comments. That's terrible. How about doing a Jimmy Fallon skit type thing? Fallon has celebrities come on the air, and has them read aloud Twitter comments that they have received. It's funny, and as such removes the sting of the negative comments.

Just saying I think I would prefer to go at 150° port or starboard and jibe along, I would guess almost same time, better performance and less tossing around..going at 180° wind angle increase dramatically discomfort .. just my opinion
