Looking very good. Mr Zappa was a fantastic and original individual. Totally underrated. Very excited for this to be out... "A composer is a guy who goes around forcing his will on unsuspecting air molecules, often with the assistance of unsuspecting musicians."- Frank Zappa

Captain Phil, would you be kind enough to identify the tunes used in this trailer, namely the two that occur at the following time marks: 1:10 Following the sound byte _...and then people started telling me that my melodies were ugly._ 1:57 Following the line _...and I wish that I could have other people catch some of it._

You're welcome! And though they're not credited specifically (that I know of), Tina Turner, and Ike Turner's 'Ikettes' did backing vocals on this, and a couple other tracks on the album. And two of them (maybe one was Tina, not sure) played the parts of Dinah, and her sister, on this one.

I saw it a couple of days ago..and I must say,I was not that impressed.The whole documentary seems like someone went to youtube and typed "frank zappa interviews" and then edited them poorly,I mean why...I was expecting to see something new,not stuff that I saw a milion times looking for stuff on zappa on the internet..anyway that's only my opinion.

Hmm, I don´t know. I too have seen most of the videos in the documentation and many others that were not used in the film, like the letterman interviews. But I don´t think the editing of the documentation was done poorly. I liked it quite a lot. It had a nice flow.

I love the hypocrisy in HQ - he's a fucking chain smoker of a drug cocktail wrapped in white and orange, and he's bashing people around him for doing what they do. And this is being promoted as 'clips never seen' but I have seen all of these clips. Eat your heros.
@shellacSOUP58
@shellacSOUP58 8 лет назад
He's not saying "don't do drugs, they're bad for you!" He's saying "I don't use mind-altering substances, and I don't appreciate people assuming that I do based on my lifestyle/appearance". And why would we want to eat someone?
@JamesMellish
@JamesMellish 8 лет назад
I think one of his main issues was with people using drugs or alcohol as an excuse for their behavior. Smoking is a gross habit but no one acts like a jackass and says "Sorry, I smoked too many cigarettes."

Who or what is HQ?
@sunmoonoh2539
@sunmoonoh2539 8 лет назад
not only that drug use made band members incapable of performing the difficult music as well as a legal liability while touring. a difficult gamble for a self run business when suspect already on appearance alone
@terrypussypower
@terrypussypower 8 лет назад
You don't have a damn CLUE what you're talking about. Zappa was an old school libertarian, which meant he didn't give a toss what anyone did in their own time as long as it "didn't cause a murder"! His issues with illegal drug use were twofold; 1. when he was paying the wages, any musician hired to do a job better be in a fit condition to do that job to the best of their abilities, or else they were OUT! Drug use potentially compromised the quality of the performance that fans were paying good money to see, which would reflect badly on Zappa, and; 2. Their illegality meant there was the potential for police or customs involvement which could put that musician out of commission also putting the shows in jeopardy. So, no hypocrisy from Zappa, quite the reverse. You would know this if you were a Zappa fan.

Frank Zappa, no doubt, is a legend. But I think his appeal stems from his irreverent spirit and satirical and unreticent lyrics. His music sucks. It's just a bunch of of disjointed noise and weird interludes. But people buy into it because he's so passionate about what he does

+Edward Bliss I certainly did not buy into 60+ albums solely because of his passion, I listen to Frank Zappa because his music is unique, interesting, intricate, highly evolved, and moves me like no other. You are entitled to your opinion, but first you must express it as such. Many people don't know the difference between fact and opinion, you among them. My opinion is Zappa music is some of the best ever, but I have no interest in attempting to force that as a fact on anyone.
