B&M Bargains started out as a discount store in Blackpool, Lancashire and eventually took over where the closed Woolworths stores left a gap in the market and Ironically you Had Places Like Pound World, Poundland, Home Bargains, Wilko springing up, all of which are wholesale bulk buyers of cheap stock and... Get this, many of these set up in the old Woolworths stores! B&M now have their distribution HQ in South Liverpool (Speke) near the Airport www.bmstores.co.uk. Have you ever heard of the saying :"Pile it high and sell it cheap"? Another Liverpool based Store group TJ Hughes which downsized a few years ago have made a comeback after a takeover and reopened many of its closed stores and it merged With John Lewis stores Expansion looks very cautious. The owners also have copied Owen Owens Store(closed) in Liverpool City centre's style. They were emulating (the posh) George Henry Lee's chain stores, another casualty, and several more famous Big "High Street" names such as BHS. PS My Top Tip: Do look out for the Red labelled items or ask where the Managers Specials are located... Even Poundland do this OK?

There’s ginger beer, and then there’s ginger beer. Idris used to be good, Olde English is not bad, but that Extra hot stuff they advertise is weak.

When I was a kid, both my Uncles worked at Fry's in Keynsham , Bristol... when Cadbury sold out to the Yanks they closed the place down , it's now a housing estate .

Adventures and Naps - Ok, have you tried Fry’s Peppermint Cream (it’s like After Eights in a bar); there’s also Fry’s Mint Cream, but I like the Peppermint best. Also; 100% agree with you on B&M’s only ever been in one once......try Home Bargains if they have them down south; it’s the same as B&M, but nicer stores (lighter, airier and with a better layout). www.homebargains.co.uk

Really recommend the alcoholic Dandelion and Burdock sold in 'Savers'. It's not very strong, but as it's technically booze, it's exempt from the sugar tax, so tastes exactly like it should do - not of gross artificial sweeteners like the other D&B brands (along with nearly all soft drinks now).

I love milk bottles too and was totally surprised she didn't. Maybe a suggestion for next time could be Fried Eggs, "because nothing says party time like" eggs lol

Sainsburys are doing home brand "Fiery ginger beer" for 70 pence a bottle 2 litres its lovely stuff!

Used to like the McVities ginger cake when I was young-even thought it used to give me massive indigestion.
