david i think your fantastic the way you do your reviews ,i cant stop watching them. if you fancy the med cruise in 2 sept i would love to meet you on board /.regards your new friend dave
Thanks so much for all your support Dave. I’m glad you like the videos. Lots of new stuff coming up this year. I’ll been sailing around Canada beginning of September, but you never know, our paths might cross one day!! PS. That Sky Princess itinerary looks really good, you’ll have a nice time I’m sure. Thanks again, David
All the food looked so good it’s made us search for a Princess cruise next month! Provided the cost of the specialty restaurants remain sensible we like to mix them in with the MDR especially on a longer cruise. That said, we went to Tuscan grill on the Silhouette last week and at $45pp didn’t think it was good value over and above the excellent food we received in the MDR. Thank you David for such a great review of the culinary offerings 👍
There are some cracking deals with Princess at the moment. I hope you find something! I’ve been to the Tuscan Grill many times and I do love it! Saying that, I can’t really remember it being $45!!!! That’s quite steep isn’t it. I do love the Celebrity Silhouette. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it. David
Hello 👋! I like this video👍! I booked a 10 night sailing on the Caribbean Princess for March 2023 during my Birthday. I booked 2 Specialty restaurants(Crown Grill and an Italian restaurant)during the sailing. I am VERY EXCITED! Thank you for posting this video 👏! I just SUBSCRIBED and bought you coffee btw☕👍😊.
Hello Elizabeth!!! Thank you very much for watching and subscribing!! I really appreciate it. I just returned from a 10 night Caribbean cruise myself, so I know you have a great time. I love Princess and have cruised with them the most, including on Caribbean Princess! I’m sure you will have a brilliant cruise! March 2023 will soon come around! Thanks again, especially for the coffee!!! David
Thanks a lot David your food reviews are excellent. My wife likes the peanut cookies from the international cafe, hope they still do them, when we are on Sky Princess at the end of May next year.
Thanks so much for watching John, I appreciate your continued support. I can’t recall seeing any cookies, but I mainly stopped there in the mornings. Maybe they brought the cookies out in the afternoon!!?? Hope you have a great time on the Sky Princess, May is just around the corner!!!
Sailing on the Sky Princess in 19 days. Just, love - love - love Princess. They just notified me today that they upgraded me at no charge to a Mini Suite. Can't wait!
my husband & I feel it's a must treat to dine in one of the specialty restaurants. The ambience alone is worth the price - quiet and cozy, service is the best!
Thanks again for a super video ! We love the Princess specialty restaurants - they are far more reasonably priced than other cruise ships and their food is equal to or better !!! I can never order anything at the Crown Grille but the ribeye. O-M-G. Tender and juicy to a T. I never have room for the creme brulee cheesecake but after your swooning over it, I shall absolutely try it when we go on our 1-way cruise to Hawaii on Princess come late September. Also at Sabatini's, their rack of lamb is doubly delectable !!! A must try.... Cheers and happiest, healthiest of travels to you ! m.
We are booked to go to the Caribbean in November. Very good, competitive prices and a fabulous deal on the drinks package. (£30 pp includes wifi and gratuities) P.S. I love animals too 🐶🐹🐷🦁🐰🐸🐝🦑🐙🐖🐈🦜🐀
Excellent video David. We loved the Crown Grill too but didn't get a chance to try Sabatini's - maybe next time. See you on the Queen Mary in January. It would be lovely to catch up for a drink 🙂
Thanks so much for watching! Wow, that Crown Grill was soooooo good! Looking forward to the Queen Mary 2 in January, we should certainly do drinks!! Can’t wait!!
As always David just love love this video you have the best taste in food I think you like your steak well done as I do it’s a very thorough video I’m drooling.would love the cruise to have been a longer trip I could watch this all day.
Excellent reviews. After the lasagna and other dishes for the starter course in Sabattini's, I don't think I could eat any more. The presentation of the panna cotta was beautiful; too bad it didn't live up to your expectations. I'm enjoying your content on the Sky Princess and will look forward to the rest of your cruises later this year and next.
Thanks so much JoAnn! I really enjoyed the Sky Princess. Yes, it was a lot of food in Sabattini’s!! best to go there really hungry!!! Thanks again for watching, David
You do such a fantastic job filming and narrating your videos. I feel as if I am there enjoying the food with you!!! Crown Grille is one of my favorites. I do enjoy speciality dining while cruising and do not mind paying for the exceptional experience. Thank you for taking us along with you while you enjoyed those desserts!!! I have been on 22 Princess cruises and i have never tried the International Cafe’. There is just so much food on a cruise. I avoid the buffet, preferring to enjoy the service and pace in the dining room or speciality dining. Oh Sabitini’s . . . not my favorite specialty dining on a Princess ship - it was a “one and done” for me. Another great video.
Thanks so much for your lovely comments! 22 with Princess! You must like them as much as I do. Which has been your favourite Princess ship so far? I’m not keen on the buffet and only use it on the very odd occasion. Also, I can’t see us rushing back to Sabatini’s!! Thanks again, David
@@CruiseShowUK I have been on every Princess ship - including a few that are no longer in the fleet! I do not have a favorite. I love that when I board a Princess ship I feel like I am at “home.” I love formal nights. I love the ambiance. I love the feeling that surrounds me. I have a 21 day New Zealand/Australia booked for Feb 21, 2022 onboard the Coral Princess, so I am hoping those countries are open to International travelers by then!!!
@@CruiseShowUK thank you. It is a bucket list cruise, so I am very excited. I am a LOTR and Hobbit geek, so I am anxious to see some filming locations!
@@lovecruisin6457 ah I see! Well, we have done a 14 night, Sydney to Auckland, via Tasmania. It was one of my all time favourite cruises. I’m sure you will love it as much as I did. David
You rescued yourself at the end in Sabatini’s! I thought are you really going to sit there and continue to say the food is to die for?! Fortunately, you gave an honest review. I dined there in September. I liked the cheese fondue but most other dishes were quantity over quality and simply mediocre. Like you, I wouldn’t dine there again. The cocktails were fantastic though.
A great video, and it has made me very excited for my trip on Sky Princess. Although I thought you was a foodie, until you asked for you fillet minion to be cooked _medium well_ what a tragic end for a beautiful piece of meat.
Haha! Thanks for watching Julie! I’m a bit funny with red meat and that’s how I like it! Hope you have a great time on the Sky Princess, she’s a beautiful ship.
@@CruiseShowUK I’m sure we will have a great time. Everyone raves about the onion soup! The food you filmed does look so good. Anyway, I’ve eventually subscribed to your channel. 🥰 ps I like my steak very rare 🐮 🩸
Hi Phil and thanks for watching my video. I really appreciate it. Sky Princess is a beautiful ship, I’m sure you’ll have a great time. Make sure you book the Crown Grill. Cheers, David
I enjoy a good speciality dining experience. I like the better cut of meat, the sides are not quite as amazing in some places but again, I like the entree - meats that are offered. I try to do a specialty restaurant on the first evening as I’m not so “fooded out” and really enjoy it that much more! Anyone who cruises knows what I mean! Thanks David! 😊
We sailed on Regal Princess, January, 2020, and then that intergalactic plague hit. Not cruising again until this October on Holland America. Alfredo’s was amazing. Melty crust. M’Lady wanted an ingredient on her pizza not on the Alfredo’s menu, and someone ran to another restaurant to get it. My margherita pizza was delectable. Rather noisy location (on the main atrium). Fabulous staff. Loooovvvved International Café. Coffee and teas for M’Lady, sweet and savory treats for me. Was open 24 hours. Gelato will have to be next time. We were too full each time we passed by there, despite the charming tongue-in-cheek carnival barker of the gentleman behind the counter. It all looked so good . You’ve sold me on Sabatini. Every now and then I crave top-notch pasta. Next time. Ladies and gentlemen, don’t forget Princess Room Service. Ample portions, 24-hours, wide selection. Perfect for when you want to chill in your stateroom.
Hey Brad! Thanks so much for all the comments. I really do love Princess Cruises! Oh now you’ve got me thinking about Alfredo’s pizza now!!! Sending best wishes and thanks again for watching. PS. I’m sailing with Holland America next April for the first time. Really looking forward to it.
Thanks again for watching! When are sailing? Make sure you try Crown Grill. Be quick as it gets booked up quickly. Hope you’re sailing somewhere beautiful and exciting!!
@@CruiseShowUK its a 7 day culinary themed cruise to Denmark and Norway on Enchanted Princess. At the end August. Only three stops so it will be mostly about the on board experience. Just about to book our meals. Crown will be one of them!
Aaaah yes, I remember seeing those cruises advertised. Have a wonderful time on Enchanted Princess, she looks amazing. Denmark and Norway are great places to visit. Thanks again for watching.
Just came across your channel and I was so happy as i will be on the SKY Princess December 18 2021. And you like your steak like i do…will be sure to go to the Crown grill. That soup looks great! I have a complimentary specialty dining so paying the extra 10 will be great
Hi and welcome to the channel!!! Thanks so much for watching, I really appreciate it! I’m sure you will love the Sky Princess, especially in the Caribbean!! Thanks again. David
I think I’ll visit the specialty restaurants on Princess on our next cruise. We went to Share on our last cruise and it was wonderful. The Crown Grill looks wonderful!
David, great video of the food offerings on Sky Princess.......I did a 4 night Alaska Sampler on Discovery Princess out of Vancouver in May. I wanted to try all of the specialty restaurants as I felt it offered very good value. First lunch was at GiGi's (Alfredo's on other ships), very good and a great way to start my Princess experience.. First night at Sabatini's and it was fabulous, I really liked the food and dinner felt very relaxed. Second night at Crown Grill and I had a great time. Bistro Sur La Mer was night three and I found the filet mignon far better than at the Crown. Last night was in the MDR and I was not very impressed with the meal. I ordered the strip loin and was served cold prime rib. I am going on Royal for a 15 night B2B, including a 3 night California Costal out of Vancouver to San Francisco and then a 12 night Mexico Riviera. I have already booked Sabatini's and Crown Grill out of Vancouver.
We love the specialty restaurants and they typically are great value. However, dont agree with additional charge for the lobster. We have traveled extensively with Princess and love the food. Have voiced to them re this additional charge. They changed the menu for Sabatini's a about 4years ago. Wish they would revisit this. In general, we recommend Princess regarding the food. 👍 We have 4 x cruises booked with Princess 2022 and 2023😁
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it! I hope you are sailing somewhere beautiful very soon! Where have you booked to go?!
I think the upselling of optional dining is verging on a disgrace. Cruising at the end of this month for the first time since 2017, upselling being one reason we have not bothered.
My last cruise was on the Diamond Princess, for 14 days. We ate each evening at the Vivaldi restaurant and never bored and the wait staff would happily personalise your dish if you had a request. My next cruise on Coral Princess for 54 days and Im sure we will try other restaurants and happily pay the extra charge. I think the food on Princess is a high standard and better than cunard Brittania food.
Thanks for watching John! Wow 54 day cruise!! I hope you are sailing somewhere nice? I think Princess are a good ‘all round’ choice. I can’t wait until my next sailing with them next June. Thanks again, David
We ate in the Estrella , the Prawn Cocktail , had us in fits of giggles , what looked like a shot glass , couple off strands on iceberg in the bottom, with a couple of prawns , hardly a prawn cocktail !
Thanks for watching Darren! Erm.... no, that doesn't sound very good at all! I'm sure I've had the prawn cocktail before and it wasn't like that!! Maybe they were low on prawns!!?? Cheers, David
Hi David, another great video, you really loved the cheesecake didn't you? Your expression made me laugh. I've not tried Princess before, but will now. Though I got confused, which restaurants are cost included and which are extra. Thanks
Thanks for watching Melanie! I believe the only ones that cost extra are Sabatini’s, Crown Grill and Bistro Sur La Mer. PS. Yes, that cheesecake was really good. I have a sweet tooth and love my desserts!
Thanks for watching Stuart! Actually, I do think your partner will be fine. The cruise lines are becoming more and more accommodating, especially to Vegan cruisers. She should just let them know beforehand, that she is Vegan, but I honestly think she’ll be fine. You’ve got me thinking now though, so on my next cruise (next week), I’m going to do a day of Vegan/Vegetarian only foods! Thanks again for watching. David
Speciality restaurants are part of cruising and a great choice to have .... My only concern after years of cruising is the growth of these type of restaurants over the years .... I hope these speciality restaurants don't become the norm on cruise ships in the future ?
Hi Neil, well I think they are certainly here to stay. I’m used to it now and don’t mind paying the extra, because you do get a better experience and obviously the food is better. Having said that, I can’t see the main dining room going away anytime soon, although it will probably change to lots of smaller ‘included’ venues, rather than the huge rooms of recent years. Thanks for watching. David
I enjoy specialty restaurants on most of the ships I go on. But I also eat many meals in the main dining room and I hope cruise ships do not eventually do away with included dining in favor of extra charge restaurants
Thanks for watching Aimee!! Actually, we are the same. We do enjoy the specialty restaurants, however most of our meals are in the main dining room. I can’t see them doing away with the included dining, can you imagine the uproar!!
Just returned from a week aboard Sky princess was a few glitches on embarkation and with the app overall really enjoyable cruise. That cheesecake more than lived up to expectations
Loved the food and the themes of each restaurant, including one called Wonderland, which had a kind of Ruby Rod (The Fifth Element movie) host, classic and very funny - ironic how these large ships had good recycling systems and yet could come down with Covid etc.
Great review. The speciality restaurants seem good value for what you get. Noticed you had quite a few dishes that were vegetable based with cheese. My partner is vegetarian and has struggled on some cruise US lines as they show a dish with cheese as being vegetarian but the mozzarella or Parmesan contain animal rennet (from a calf’s stomach) and they don’t seem to understand. Only P&O and Marella have understood that cheese with animal rennet cannot be shown to be vegetarian presumably as they have British clientele.
Thanks for watching! You would think they should know this by now…. I do think they are getting better though. I see more and more veggie & vegan options available. Thanks again. David
Just wondering if seating is spaced out in the MDR due to Covid? Having been on 11 cruises with with Princess and having four canceled 🥴 I am looking forward to booking another cruise, but pre- covid I was finding it very uncomfortable being so close and squished next to other guests, even though we get a table for two. Your thought appreciated 😀🇦🇺
Hi Leanne, I know exactly what you mean. On the cruises I’ve taken during Covid, yes they sit people further apart. However, as the ships start filling up again, it will certainly return to normal. I really don’t like it!! Thanks for watching and hope You get to set sail soon. David
I haven’t been on the sky princess we have been sailing on princess for years when we first started the food was very good years back it changed I don’t like it at all the variety is not as good mostly my husband and I eat in the buffet I end up getting a portion the size of a 5 year old. The reason why we mostly eat in the buffet is we have gone down to the dining room to eat and it’s not much better I feel it’s to much time and energy to make the effort. The last time we went on a cruise was last year we have never cruised with anyone else. I I’m at the point checking out other cruise lines which we never thought we would have to. We’ve been very pleased with everything else from Princess except the food which is a big part of the cruise.
Hello and thanks for watching. I have to agree with you. I took my first Princess cruise 20 years ago and food standards today are nothing like what it used to be. The main dining room used to be quite a ‘fine dining experience’, however it’s now just ‘mass’ dining and is often not a good experience. To get that ‘fine dining’ that we remember, you have to pay much more and choose a luxury line. The main lines like Princess, P&O, Celebrity and Holland America are not what I would call Luxury. Best wishes, David
Hi MrJo and thanks for watching. Yes I do like it well done… sometimes medium. I hope you’re sailing somewhere amazing…. I’m assuming Caribbean? Have a great time and enjoy Sky Princess, she’s a great ship that I would sail on again.
Hi Aimee! Well, I really wish I could say I’m off somewhere adventurous, sadly not!!! It’s just a 4 day trip so I can see (and film) what it’s like onboard this small, but mighty ship! I’m sure it will be great and no doubt I’ll want to sail a longer voyage with them. I already have my eye on their Norway itineraries from Dover!
As you say the food is great in the Steak House unfortunately the ambience is lost on the Royal class ships. It's more like a high end fast food restaurant. Love all the older ships for the premium dinning experience. 😪
Thanks for watching Mike. I’ll just say, I’ve never been a huge fan of the Royal class. I much prefer the Grand class. My first ever cruise was on the Golden Princess. Looking forward to their new Sphere class. Let’s see what they can do. David
The lobster tail at the Crown Grill didn’t look very large. Was the surf and turf the only way to get lobster there? I can’t eat most meat, including beef, but I can eat fish and shellfish. Can you order a whole lobster? I will say that the food looked delicious but I think it lacks class to charge an extra fee for the surf and turf. Nickel and diming passengers is a sure way to turn a smile into a frown. Rather tacky.
Hello, No you don’t have to do the sift ‘n’ turf. You can order the lobster on its own, or I assume you could have it with another one of the fish dishes. You would probably have to pay the extra $10 though. (Next time I go there, I will order a fish main with the lobster to find out) There isn’t a whole lobster on the menu and the up-charge is becoming quite normal unfortunately. Princess are not alone in doing this and it’s just an example of how cruising has changed from what it once was. I still love it though and find it a great way to see the world. Thanks for watching, David
Thanks for watching Bridget! I’ll be back on the Sky Princess in June, so I’ll make sure to try things I wouldn’t normally pick!!! Thanks again and I hope you’ll be sailing somewhere beautiful very soon! David
Hello! Thanks for watching. I’m not sure what’s happened to the link/menu. If you google Princess Cruises Sabatini menu you will be able to view. I expect the menu will have changed since I was last on Princess.
I've now watched several of your "food" videos on the various ships. I understand you've cruised quite a lot and have tried much of the food on each ship. I'm wondering which of the cruise lines you would say has the best food over all. And, if you wouldn't mind, please separate that into "included" and "extra" categories.
Hello Ebba. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Best food ever? Such a difficult question to answer. For me. I absolutely love the food on Viking. They include specialty restaurants and the quality of ingredients is outstanding. Sadly many mainstream lines have cut back on quality in my opinion. I still think Celebrity is better for main room dining, closely followed by Princess. 😋
@@CruiseShowUK Thank you so very much. Hubby and I are old and have never cruised... but we'd love to do at least one in our lifetimes. When you only get one, you want it to be the very best it can be.
Sailed on the Diamond Princess in 2019. Worst cruise ever, the food was terrible. Even the Sushi was poor despite being a Japan itinerary, it has put us off Princess for life. Now we only do luxury small ship lines where everything is included in the price.
@@CruiseShowUK Windstar is our go to but we are trying Scenic Eclipse in January and then Swan Hellenic in September 22, would like to try Viking at some point though.
There aren’t many Vegan options ordinarily available. Having said that, Princess will create something special if you give them your dietary requirements before you board.
woow my past Cruiseship i am working last 2015... i wish i can work and be a team member again in PRINCES CRUISES LINE FAMILY... HERE IN CEBU, PHILIPPINES. .. GOD BLESS ALL .. UN JESUS CHRIST NAME... AMEN🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰😇😇😇
Hi Jennifer, yes you do have to wear a mask when moving around the ship indoors. Once you are sat down to eat or drink, you can take the mask off. Thanks for watching, David
I was hooked right up until the end when you said "THE" Queen Elizabeth and "THE" Queen Mary. "THE" is not part of Cunard ships' names. Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary 2 is these wonderful ships' names. Please KNOW that Cunard ships do NOT have "THE" in front of their names. Apart from that, your video was brilliant. Great! Very descriptive... very informative. However, it was spoiled at the end regarding the Cunard ships names. Please rectify. Thanks.
The use of the definite article (the) is perfectly acceptable in American English despite its lack of being part of a formal name. For instance, we often say the United States of America even though “the” is not part of the name - it’s United States of America. You can say, “I’m traveling to United States” although most people would say, “I’m traveling to the United States.” So pOtato-pAHtato, let’s just try to get along.
