For me the best example of the hours long PS2 retrospectives is The Golden Bolt. As the name might suggest, he does a lot of Ratchet and Clank videos, but also other things. Though if we're stepping away from just PlayStation Hbomberguy and Folding Ideas have both obviously done massive retrospectives on games. Super Butter Buns' videos are shorter but are largely in the shan't genre.

I grew up with a football loving family my dad had games on all the time college and pro, but at that age I was outside playing football with friends. It wasn’t until probably middle school that I would even sit down to actually watch a game on tv, I’d rather be playing. I played football up through high school. Once I couldn’t really play anymore, then I exclusively just watched games. The comparison you’re trying to make isn’t the same. This is worse going from an already sedentary activity of playing video games to a totally passive and solitary activity of doing nothing and watching others play a game. His brain is getting nothing out of it and not even getting any hand-eye coordination or problem solving you’d get from actually playing. Also watching football games in my house is a social event with friends and family often hanging out. It’s often an excuse to get people together. Then there’s friends at work that are football fans and it’s conversational material we enjoy talking about.
