Hey guys, a lot has happened in the time between my last M3 video! I've had a few since putting the car back on the road, but this was the main one. Anyway all sorted now, and feeling great!
Hey Danny.🖐 I'm absolutely loving this M3 content, man. Gorgeous machine that's definitely worthy of the foam canon. Seeing that level of detailing, I was half expecting the ASDA peanut butter to make a guest appearance. So happy you got the latest issues resolved and the ebay money spent wasn't for nawt. The check engine light/limp mode combo are almost like the automotive equivalent of the blue screen of death. Your M3 has a damn good exhaust note to my ears and sounds like the 4.1 pulls great. Nice upgrades that should have been factory standard. I've said before, the countryside is beautiful over there. Ooh, but I hate that loose asphalt.😠 They do that shit over here now, too. Cheap sonsabitches! Those roads are a true test of your suspension setup with all those curves and peaks. Looks like you've done a hell of a job, because if you hadn't, the car would be bottoming out and scrubbing 'round every bend and jump. I read the comments and agree 100% with the incar camera footage scenes... superb action! I'm not sure what everyone's on about with the wrong side of the road comments, though. Looks normal to me.😉 Good to see you out enjoying the M3, Dan. After all those long days in the Autobarn turning wrenches, wiring, welding and such, you deserve some real joy in your life. For now, the M3 does the trick. You'll have to excuse me now. I'm gonna have one last listen to that closing soundtrack.👌 Have a great tomorrow.
Hey Mick! I get the feeling you're enjoying these videos that bit more lately, I think as the video quality goes up you step to the mark and make sure your review reflects that! :) It's been another one of those testing weeks, but definitely worth it in the end. Stay good Mick! Back to MR2s next...
@@dannyDC2 fairs. Just meant usually you remove the cats off a car and the oxygen sensors throw a wobbly until you tell the ECU. Makes sense for a remap as well.
That onboard camera angle at towards the end of the video was superb. I love the whine of the transmission. Sounds like a 90’s BTCC touring car. The 4.1 final drive sounds so much better, the gear ratios sound so much shorter.
Yeah that Final drive should have been from factory, why have a car which makes all the power up top and fit with the final drive of a 200mph top end lol.
The pebble road surface stuff is terrible. Its been done on my estate and local roads. They said any excess would be swept up but it never was. It works its way to the edge of the road but when the weather is bad it spreads all the stones out again. England's roads are an utter disgrace and we pay through the nose for it all.
Loving the M3 content. Had the rod bearings done just before lockdown along with clutch, flywheel, new diff and a whole load of other stuff. Hardly driven it since 😢
Johnny D Legend, Nah she’s a keeper. Everything mechanical has been done, vanos, rod bearings, drivetrain, suspension, brakes, poly bushes, subframe, new wings. Just wants a wheel refurb and a blow over to make it mint.
Thinking of going this route with mine, quick question removing the o2 sensors is it a constant resetting engine management fault codes over time? Do you have to link them out somehow or just bung and disconnect ? Come Mot will it give me a headache ? I’m just looking for some increased rasp only. Thanks Danny
Ah! It's no good when you see a Peugeot, or now Nissan Cashcow or Kia pull out in front. Best pull over for 3 or 4 hours, let them gain a little distance.
I ran a decat for a year and a half, but found it too boomy on the motorway. I bought a resonator to try and reduce it but still found it too lairy. So in the end I went back to running the cats. My mpg went up by about 4mpg with them in too. My exhaust isn't super quiet (supersprint cat back), but it sounds nice with a deep tone, and I think I like the induction sound more than an overly raspy exhaust.
Just putting my 2pence worth in. Send some of your old oil off for analysis to see what the copper content is. You will know if your bearings have gone then,or the condition of them.
Good to see the M3 back. Mind you, makes me regret selling mine. You’ve some cracking roads up there too. Going to head up in the 1602 once the m44 has been mapped and lockdown is lifted.
I had the exact same issue on mine. The 02 sensor loom shorts, blows the fuse and puts the engine into limp mode when put under load. Started happening mine on the way to the Ring and couldn't figure it out. Fine sometimes and then jump into limp again... Doing it around Brunchen wasn't ideal :D Found the problem then, Got a transmission sub loom from Ring spares and all sorted. The other little sensor is the Exhaust gas temp (egt) sensor. Last camera view is class!
Espanol spec at the end. Love these roads, out towards Hawes is really nice which in sure you’ll have tried out. It is a shame all the nice twistys are so bumpy :-(
Hi Dan, loving the M3 vids, got an old as in really old beemer myself but mine don't sound like a 6 cylinder anymore, loving the sound of yours with the mods. What's the reason for the flipped footage at the end?
Nice sounding exhaust now mate. Got that trademark 'rasp' too. Yeah no idea what they are now, but I used to have an S2000 and I never actually got to put a decent exhaust on it cuz they started at about a grand and I just never had the money for it.
ha head gasket, vanos and boot floor. The when not if magic 3 . I was lucky, my 5 years with an e46 m3 did not end with one of those. Quite a bit in servicing and mods though. I decided to quit whilst I was ahead. Buy a bad one its a headache that empty's your wallet!
You watched M539 restorations Dan? He's a wizard. Between him, and yourself getting the E46 back out I've had a big push to get all the rust sorted on my E34 and get it back out for whats left of the summer.
