In this episode we conclude our repair of the Hewlett Packard Model 200CD Wide Range Audio Oscillator and do some cap restuffing while we're at it. A lot of fun for all so join me as we get this ole girl working again.
It’s a lot of work to do that, why not just replace the caps with heat shrink an a good anchor point? It’s test gear not a glass case see through piece of art. I know some must have it as it was, but I never waste my time doing that anymore. No one will ever know or care using it as a test piece of equipment. It was you call but I think a waste of your time. Your a good tech from what I have seen but it was up to you.
I appreciate your comments, but it was what i wanted to do and in the case of this caliber of test equipment it deserved to be treated a little better. It only took me about 30 minutes to do each capacitor and was no big deal to do. my cap restuff method is very efficient and i will use it every chance I get. also, finding a place to mount external replacements usually means altering the circuitry paths to be able to connect the caps to the proper point to me is messy and takes away from the equipment's heritage. I also have been in electronics repair since the 70's and have forgotten more than i know, I'm rusty in some areas because i changed professions after my radio and tv days and didn't keep up with things. anyway, thanks for watching and hope to see you on the next one.
