@@cleftturnip7774 no its not. Fast and furious is literally about steer racing. Terminator 3 just felt like terminator 2 with a girl instead of robert Patrick. I like it but Ebert wasnt contradicting though
I didn't think T3 wasn't that bad besides it being much weaker of a film than T2 & the original Terminator in which would be almost impossible to make another Terminator film better than T2 considering that T2 was better than the original.. After T3 came out, the sequels kept getting worse and worse and I hope the Terminator series is dead!

I think I was one the of the few who went into Terminator 3 with realistic expectations. Because I knew it wasn't Cameron. None of the people involved with the first 2 were involved. My expectations were low.
I'm still disappointed by the ending of Terminator 3 over 20 years later. It's not a bad movie, but audiences were promised something that didn't happen through trailers and more. Most of the movie is pretty good - the ending is such a tease.
I always liked and respected Roger Ebert and agreed with most of his opinions. However in The Matrix Reloaded the villains he described as "not interesting" because "machines don't make good villains" is way off. Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith was an absolute joy to watch up on screen.
People really need to start taking James Cameron more seriously as a film craftsman. Only then will people be able to see just how bad the Terminator 2 sequels really are.
2003 was amazing all these films i like i was only kid in elementary who like Hulk other kids said it was scary lol 2 fast 2 furios is worse one but damn good watch
The Matrix came out the month after Siskel's death. So it wouldn't be Siskel & Ebert. But I think Roger Ebert must've reviewed with another critic, yes.
I dunno, Roeper, I don't think The Matrix movies are anything like Star Wars... Also, they were both wrong that the second Matrix was better than the first.
You must not have been alive back in the early 2000s, the matrix was much bigger than star wars back then. What happened was that it didn't have any good games or spinoff content to keep it going. But matrix was definitely the star wars for 90s kids. It certainly wasn't the star wars prequels
T 3 is a very very good film imo. The crane scene is as good as it gets. Is it as good as T 2? No. Which movies are? Compare it to the average film and it’s far above (“I’m sick & tired of racing & explodings” “thumbs up for 2 f 2f; I loved the car chases”) lololololololololololol
T3 was a pleasant surprise, surprisingly good. I saw Hulk in the theatre and literally fell asleep, but based on their review I will give it another try.
I'm going to rewatch it. From what I remember, it was terrible as a Hulk adaptation (especially if you think the Hulk's prime appeal is not his warped take on Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but rather his destructive tendencies and bizarre rogues gallery) but used that premise to do a solid character study of a man burdened with a dark legacy. I am ok with a movie being more mentally stimulating in place of wall-to-wall action, but 100% understand and accept why audiences hated it. It would be like having a dissertation on the importance of agriculture in a Star Wars film, interesting in its own right, but not the IP people want to explore that in.

You could tell Ebert was kinda a Hypocrite on the 2 fast 2 furious part as it good to have a option but it important to keep watching a movie to see what you really think about than giving it a hard time over something you see in every action packed film
Well, the Terminator franchise was more ambitious than the Fast and Furious franchise, and it sounded like he was more disappointed that T3 sacrificed its more ambitious elements (which he loved about the last 2 films) for non-stop action and special-effects. 🤔
@@Revelian1982 well, agree to disagree. I certainly didn’t always agree with him, but I still loved hearing him talk about movies because of how passionate he was about them. 🙃
I've never understood why Hulk gets so much hate. It's the best version of him in my opinion. Ed Norton was just ok and Mark Ruffalo was the worst possible choice for Avengers. I like the anger management stuff.
T3 suffered because it came out after 10 years of anticipation with the inevitable comparison to the earlier films and was just too slapstick. Also had some major continuity issues such as where it goes from night to day in a matter of minutes during the first big chase. That huge destructive chase through downtown LA only results in one fire truck responding? It's not a terrible part 3 but I kind of agree with Roger here.
Kristanna Loken was one of the better aspects of T3. For me, it really needed Edward Furlong. It was too hard to accept any other actor as John Connor. I saw T3 in theaters. I was entertained but I've never spent the time to watch it again.
@@johnwanner1446 Terminator should be more then just a popcorn film. T1 and T2 were dark, serious films which have well written intriguing story about our opsession with technology.
The Matrix Reloaded isn't great, but I like it. The Matrix Resurrections though is honestly one of the worst movies I've seen in a very long time. I hated it so much.
Watching these reviews in this period after Siskel left, its very obvious why Roeper kept the job. He is the only one who was able to coax out some good disagreements with Ebert
Im with Roger on this one. This is definitely one of the better sequels, but you can feel the franchise cereal getting soggy with this entry. The poignant urgency of the first two films is just gone, and Kristanna Loken was just 🤣

I am seriously shocked hearing Roeper defend T3. It had some okay chase scenes but it is pure trash compared to T2. If I knew it from simply watching the previews from back then, I don't see how this film worked on his adult brain at all.
