Thanks for the info. I'm gonna put one on my new ebike. It is a bit disappointing that you made the video 2 yrs ago and in the meantime, no manufacturer seems to have had the foresight to integrate an SD card system into it, to record at the same time. The hardware is already in place and an encoder chip and card slot would be simple additions - one would think.
Just can't believe why it took so long for companies to come out with rear view bike camera. It is such a old matured and cheap technology. Should be easily to have tiny camera clip to the back of helmet, seat, etc.
Yes, I was out riding yesterday, it was kind of difficult to keep turning around to see what's behind me because I don't have any rearview mirrors. That's when I thought To myself, I need a solution. After seeing your video I was convinced that I needed a rearview cam. Buying today, thank you, for the insight. Sincerely, Real^Talk
I got one for my Rad Rover 5 and my wife's Rad City. She's a nervous rider and I noticed she wasn't checking her mirrors because she said she didn't want to look to the sides. Now she's much more aware of her surroundings when we ride. I got my camera because my shoulders are super wide being 6'4" and 325lbs and I would still have contort myself to see around me in the mirrors, and that's with both mirrors on the handlebar ends and fully extended out.
I had used one, but I had a hard time seeing my wife riding behind me. This is fish eye lense. I switched to a USB camera that I connect to my phone that I use as a display.
I use the camera also on my Himiway with the extra bar. I also got the GPS 5 in. Navigator sun screen and it fits like a glove. It clips on and looks like it came with it. Misses all buttons and really helps with sun glare.
I'm definitely buying one of these for my rad rover. Been on the fence on getting rear view mirrors, I just don't want make my bike any wider. I'm just not sure If I have enough room on my handlebars, I got too many other gadgets 😂🤣👍
Have it on my wife's X52. I strapped the camera under the brake light. Works great but the screen does take up a lot of realestate on the bars. Gets crowded when adding other gadgets even with the add on extra bar. Think eventually I will get bmx bars put on both of our X52v's.
What a coincidence! I just got my Super 73 RX delivered last night along with this same exact camera. Took it out for a test this morning and I love it. You are right though....objects appear closer than they seem....and faster. I was busy looking at the camera at an approaching car, and he zipped past me faster than I expected. Maybe I was doing what you were doing...just staring at the screen (I was probably mesmerized at the technology too), when the car came zooming and startled me, even though I knew he was coming. Too bad I bought it before I saw your vid...I would have bought it with your affiliate link. 😢
You'll have to let me know how that super 73 RX runs. I have never tried a super 73 bike but I'm sure I will someday. What other gadgets are you going to add to it?
@@CitizenCycle925 It runs smooth as butter with the dual shocks and it runs pretty fast at 31 mph on a straigh-away. It does lack torque on the low end, as other RU-vidrs pointed out. I have a hill near my house, and when I took my Bolton Avenger 500 watt/800-900w peak bike up the hill, I had it on the lowest gear, max throttle + maximum leg power, but it was still hard to pedal. It felt like I was wearing cement shoes and I was only going 5-6 mph. With a running start, I took my RX up the hill WITH pedalling at about 18 mph and it was a breeze. I tested it again at the bottom of the hill, no running start, no pedalling, and it couldn't make it. Torque only kicks in past 10 mph...more after 20 mph. Still, it conquered the hill that I always avoided with my Bolton bike. I think it can conquer most hills, the one caveat is that one needs a running start. Truthfully, after watching your review on the Ariel Rider, I really wanted that bike. After your video showing your shorter wife and niece mount the bike, I was excited to pre-order it, because I'm a short dude. But, I was worried about the higher seat being uncomfortable, and with Super 73 mentioning a torque update in the near future (how near can it be when it's been over a year already), I bought the RX.
I noticed mine looked a little bit weird at first, and then I noticed I didn't take the clear plastic sticker off the camera, once I did that it was crystal clear.
@@CitizenCycle925 I DID THAT AND THE RESOLUTION WAS STILL GRAINY. I DONT KNOW IF I JUST GOT A BAD ONE AND SHOULD TRY IT AGAIN OR IF ALL OF THEM ARE THAT WAY.
Nice camera and review man. I personally use folding mirrors, although I have thought about something like this, and I would need that crossbar too. That Aerial Rider is beautiful by the way. Thank you sir.
I agree I think it would be a distraction. I use one lefthand bar end mounted camera and feel it provides the necessary amount of information to stay safe.
I see a lot of comments on this product complaining of blue screen death after a few months after puchase. . .for this reason id love to see a review AFTER someone has used it for 12 months ; that would ensure confidence in purchasing. Reviewing products straight after unboxing is neither here nor there for me , i wanna see proven use over 12 months. Id love to know how easily the screen detaches so you can take it with you when locking bike up to. Also i think the screen could do with a deflector ( like a lens cap , to repel sunshine from hitting the screen ) , unless its a high contrast screen like my handlebar controller. Otherwise a great idea.
mine is still working as of now. i have seen the blue screen when the plug came loose once. detaching it is not something that i would want to do on a regular basis, its kinda tight, maybe it would loosen up over time if you did it a lot. and i agree that a sun deflector would be nice. its unique but i think mirrors are more intuitive.
Very good review. May consider. I want top purchase a camera re camera, since I almost get hit once a day in a Total of 2.5 miles round trip. Mostly ppl that don’t want to use the STOP sign and also the limit line. Too many ppl driving that shouldn’t be.
👍 because of some neck issues it’s hard getting a good over the shoulder check so I’m currently looking for the best camera and monitor rearview system for my motorcycle(HD, Image stabilizing, wide angle lens, works very good at night, etc.) I’ve subscribed and will keep a lookout for your videos in the hopes you might reviews some more. Thank you for these informative videos they really help🙏
You may have already ordered something but as I was checking out these which I had no idea they made I realized that they do have dual cameras for motorcycles that are ACC.
Had it on mine for months now only thing I forget to charge it 😭😭😭😭😭 1 more thing make sure you turn it off before unplugging the cable for charging or it will get messed up I love mine no complaints
I've got mirrors on my bike but I'm going to buy one of those rear view cameras any way because you can never have enough safety precautions on the streets.
I have this and a mirror, mirror is so much better for viewing cars coming up from behind me. And after 2 months, it only charges to 2 bars. I wouldn’t it again for an ebike. Maybe good as a peephole for the front door.
I’d be curious how it holds up off-road. Nice for the ride TO the trail, definitely. Will it still work for the ride home FROM the trail? Thanks for another great vid. Strongly considering one of these b/c I just don’t like the mirrors.
I bought the Feisike, which is more or less the same thing and ended up throwing it in the trash. Visibility with these bike monitors under sun glare is terrible. Colors are so washed-out that it's hard to distinguish the car coming up on you from the background. Distant approaching cars you can't make out at all. I went back to using a mirror. The only safe camera-monitor is the one you can rely on 100% of the time. I might try using a real photography camera monitor like a Portkeys PT6 paired with a cheap action camera.
The mirros do not work unless you get the real big ones.I had to take my mirrors off because they would never adjust right and it had no magnification like a car mirror. Thanks for this might get one--but sadly i avoid the street at all costs and use the sidewalk. My area the sidewalk is vey sparsely used and we have no bike lanes.
Speaking of accessories....AR released a Tank Bag....after I made a diy with their patches, they do a pro version. Yeh, bought 2. Gives it a better than super 73 look, Check'm out
Use likes of cross tour 20 mp action camera( go pro clone I think) comes with diving camera case and still gets fairly good audio quality. Had a pair of this type of camera mounted front and rear on a bike with a modded diving case to power both from an usb power bank while also keeping the cameras shower proof. Only con is have to press record each time you power up system. Some of these cameras have wifi so the rear can be displayed on a phone on handlebars. Great plus to this system is traffic behind can clearly see the camera and most times keeps their distance etc. For racks used to carry bags mount at end over the tail light. That way bags don’t obscure cameras view. Parking bike clip off cameras from mount and put in pocket. I can’t currently make/ upload videos to yt but if you want to get an idea of quality look at Michael kinsella MX02s or Lo26 videos on here. Cheers.
Bought this however routing wire for a step thru bike is cumbersome. Nice cam if you have a regular bike an no step thru, had to send back. Looking for a wireless bluetooth cam
The display is so clear. I like the sound of your ebike running. Sir why is the bench curve in the display when in fact the bench is straight 2:06? Thanks for sharing.
Wow your are the first biker to go slow on your bike so fun to follow, i appreciate the vid, i am gonna try a Wifi cam (From Ebay) that connect to my old extra phone y have saved. I am still waiting for my Grizzly, try do do feedback on FB. Thanks man
$147.65 for that camera in Canada. Ouch. Great video ! BTW, how do you charge the battery ? do you remove it ? or do you charge it while it is on the bike with a charger with long cable that connects to it ?
Wow! It works great! I would get one but I don't think I'd have room on my Radrover 5. If anyone has any suggestions for how I could make it work, please let me know. P. S. I have a rear rack.
Ariel rider x class compared to the himi escape bike is definitely different. They are both fun but the Himiway is more comfortable and I have it set up for cruising and running errands with all the bags and racks. The Ariel Rider is more high-speed fun, feels like a little motorcycle, keeps up in traffic no problem. I like them both just depends what you plan on using the bike for I guess.
bro mount the camera underneath the back rack or on the fender or on top of rear light! This def needs some re engineering so you can use the rack...a smart person would market a rack with the camera built into the rack, also be cool if it had a front camera for recording/gps/speedo "all in one"?
Same as you. I don't want to have to drill holes for the mirrors. Plus I have a twist throttle. W/ Sunlite hard box. I have to lift my arm every time I want to look behind me. I live in Alaska, so I normally have my hood on which makes it hard to see what's beside me. I had no idea these existed! Happened to pop up as I was surfing online store. They only offer two one with a 130 wide angle and one with a 145. Some reason I think the 130 may be better less fisheye? If anyone knows let me know please!
Good video, but for me, it's way too big. Once I've added the phone for mapping, there isn't much room left for the big screen. I'm still looking for a right handed end bar mirror for mine, as I'm in the UK and we ride on the left
Don't get obsessed with watching the display. If a car is approaching and following you, it just might make you nervous. However, the presence of the camera itself would make drivers behave better than if there weren't one.
Not a bad idea, but I really don't want to get into the habit of not turning my head for a "real" view of what's behind me. I still think it's safer to turn my head than to check my side mirror, even briefly. Someone should incorporate a rear-view cam into a GPS speedometer app so we can run both at the same time.
Hi! I got this for Father’s Day and I find that the picture is too wide angle thus making the picture kind of small. Btw you have a good amount of space on your handlebars, I spent countless hours finagling the placement of the display and the camera. I have an Lectric XP.
I have a Rans Stratus XP that I put a Bafang BBSHD on, and I think that this camera would give me a better image than my left hand mirror. I also have a helmet mirror, but find it difficult to focus on that , and then re-focus on the left hand mirror. I'm hoping that this camera will solve those issues.
