Finally someone who knows what theyre talking about. Just picked one of these controllers up and I'm having trouble finding any sort of meaningful documentation that's more than pamphlet-grade. No pinouts or diagrams, do you know if such a thing even exists? I hate having to piece together bikebro youtube videos in order to find out what a simple datasheet would tell me @_@

Contact EBMX. They have full documentation for their controllers.

@@de-bodgery Yeah, I shot them an email about a week ago and its been crickets so far 👌

If I ever buy a controller for a diy or a tuning project, it must be repairable by using a hot air station or a soldering iron. Is there a way to separate both pcbs without damaging the connectors?
@TudiMPowerService
@TudiMPowerService Год назад
You may separate it just you need proper tools like a vacuum desoldering gun. But EBMX controllers are potted (they say) KO does not. But who knows? What is better? If you have a good quality controller that no needs to be repair but already potted or you have another controller what need to be repair and also you can be repair because not potted ? This is a big question. I know everything can be broken, but if you choose a contoller smartly and you not undersize it for your project, maybe it will be bulletproof.

@@TudiMPowerService You are right, but I am human, I sometimes destroy things by mistake. A diy project is always some kind of prototype. This is why I like the teardowns on this channel. I hate expensive stuff with no chance to repair. This controller looks good to me. I hope someone ports vesc to it.

@@PeterPan-gy6kq This is probably the best piece of hardware I've seen so far. It's got a few things I'd like changed, but otherwise, the more I dig, the more I like about it! I have to say that all potting will come out. Like I said in the video, "You might have to get at it with chemicals, but it will come out again." Those through holes with pin headers, hot air, going slower than I did, etc would all possibly work. They will come out without damaging anything. I succeeded on the hardest one and got more familiar with the "feel" of the solder letting loose as I went along. That really hard one was the last one I removed. Since this was my first of these to ever take apart, I was obviously too aggressive. I can guarantee you I would not repeat what I did to this power stage again! You know, live and learn....what else can I do?

@@PeterPan-gy6kq As far as repairable and stout and not potted and made with all top teir western parts goes, well that's Tronic. It's not as refined as the X-9000. The guys that designed the X-9000 are really good. The Tronic engineer, he's pretty clever, but his mechanical stuff isn't as good as the X-9000. That's not to say it's lousy, just that the X-9000 is seriously good from the hardware level! You'll see the Tronic 750 pretty soon. I'm working on the preamble stuff now. It takes a bit to look over a board and to get a decent idea what the parts do and how they interact. Probably this week you'll some 750 content.

Flipsky uses original STM32F405 on all of their cheap FSESC controllers no problem. Also where is the EBMX source code for their GD version of VESC, it is nowhere to be seen.

Already stated why they used the CPU they did. Believe, don't believe, don't really care! I asked the people at EBMX, this is what they told me...end of story! Source code has already been discussed repeatedly, go read those posts elsewhere.

LOL "faraday cage" with 900A phase buses very close and all over low voltage logic board! As an electronic engineer, I can tell, you want them as far as possible. That's why no other controller does it like that. It must be connected outside the metal case, not inside allover 3.3V logic.

You are obviously wanting to pick a fight. Your motives are clear, create drama and conflict. You probably bought into the KO Moto lies and deceptions and so I feel for you! Watch the videos from the perspective of education. I do tear downs for far more than just KO and EBMX. You will notice a theme, if your bias allows you to see. I call good stuff "good" and I call bad stuff "bad". Kindly SHOW me any attempt at blocking RF from the small electronics in an existing KO controller. They have similar closeness between boards and there is no evidence of sheilding of any kind. I did say "sort of like a faraday cage". You rapidly hacked that up to make it sound like I said something else. If you are going to quote me do it accurately! While I agree you don't want low power electronics right next to noisy high power ones, that IS how you build a controller. Your best bet is to mitigate RF issues AND EBMX did that! IF you really are an EE, then you don't need me to tell you just how BAD of a design KO products are and how GOOD EBMX is!

Dude, I do not care about KO, it is not a good design either.

@@MrDehicka Hey, sorry...you came at me pretty direct. You would not believe the amount of shit I get for doing that KO Pro tear down! KO people come at me in any video I post that competes with KO! I'm a bit defensive as a result and that's the core of what happened. Sorry, it's just being shell shocked by assholes over and over again and you got a bit of the back draft from that.
