When I heard about it, I planned a journey on the same day I could book tickets. This route deserves trip reports to tell people about other ways of transportation (if I stay this principle, I never earn anything on RU-vid hahaha).
These train is about 30 years old. So that's the reason why it's not accessibly. But for the rest the trains kept up very well for its age! I still prefer this one over newer trains in Belgium! It maybe needs more plugs and some update informations panel, because they are straight from the 90's. And if they would add an accessible car, they can go on for 30 more years!
30 years already... I'm feeling old hahaha. But yeah I know these are not the newest trains, I also have to admin that these trains are actually really comfy. Also the older I10 carriages are pretty nice to be honest.
I saw you on Doc Austin's vid, thought this route was great, but you are right, the ticket situation is not helpful at all. After the mess of Brexit I know all about cross border travel and it should be easier..good video, well done, I like these trains, not fancy but does the job.
Absolutely not fancy but does the job, although the name "EuroCity" is misused in this situation. About the cross bordering tickets, I can get really passionated about this haha, I mean this is relatively simple so just fix it. Also for connecting tickets from and to the UK i can make a seperate video, brexit shouldn't play a role for this.
@@Trainviking I may use this to get to Paris from Brussels as I was planning a trip once the Frecciarossa from Paris to Milano opens again via Frejus tunnel. all the way down to Sicily. Again, great vid. Eurostar is good but, I travel from Scotland and the cost isn't worth it, its cheaper to fly to Brussels and quicker then get the train from there..
Maybe we're at a point where the EU needs to get involved? Ticketing complexity is really annoying when crossing borders. You should always have some options besides Eurostar, like going to CDG Airport TGV or Marne-la-Vallée TGV to take the classic TGV to Brussels, or regular train or TGV to Lille then SNCB IC to Brussels. Ugh, what a mess.
You must have taken the EuroStar to Paris Nord before the vandalism on the LGV line. I heard that the EuroStar trains are now being routed on the conventional line until repairs have been completed.
Booking international train tickets is always a problem... for long journeys you often have to book tickets via several companies, which makes travel complicated. But there is something more incredible with trains between Belgium and north of France : There is a train operated jointly by NMBS and SNCF, between Tournai (B) and Lille (F). If you buy your ticket with the belgian company, you can reserve it. With SNCF it's not possible ! But some month ago it was also possible to book it online with SNCF. The only twist was... that it cost 68% more with SNCF ! 😬 For the exact same train, at the same time.
Yes I noticed yhe same in the past, its WAY pricier via the French. The same thing is still on the regional train between Aachen and Liège. A small price difference is totally fine, but on these regional lines they are working together. Also of you can't book those tickets via for example the Danish railways, I understand but at least the Dutch and German railways should be able to sell this. This MUST be fixed
Since then is the Siemens Vectron capable of going to France? I always thought it is not authorised for the French railway network since they have to change the locomotive for the Austrian nightjet trains.
The French are slowly changing, France is a great train producer but you also find Siemens trains now (also on the Eurostar) and some Italian trains (the Frecciarossa). Even though they make great trains in France it's good to see some variations.
@@isdattomatojuice9897 Thanks, I checked on Wikipedia, this is an eurosprinter using the new safety cab later used by the vectron. Also it is equipped with KVB needed for France.
