Many different designs for each type of project are also included. For example, there are hundreds of designs ru-vid.comUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu for outdoor buildings, from small sheds all the way up to a complete stable. Choose whatever type of shed or storage house is right for you. Pick from fancy ones or more utilitarian designs.

At 74, I'm a lot slower and more deliberate, especially on scaffolding! It always takes a couple of hours to get cautiously comfortable. Everything is heavier than it used to be, so frequent breaks are necessary. Great job!

At 75 I don't work without a scissor lift or JLG,,,,,Hell I have been that way since I was 60! It takes a guy with a shotgun the get me up a stepladder anymore🤡
@Jim-Wade
@Jim-Wade 2 года назад
@@mathewmolk2089 Scissor lifts are great on hard flat surfaces, and I'd love to use one but terrain is limiting factor. I'll use a ladder to get on a roof but climbing a shaky 24' extension ladder has been out of the question for a long time, even with a harness.

Scott, I always enjoy your videos. There's something that I learn or that affirms something that I do. Also, it is good to see a guy my age working alone because you can keep up with me, unlike employees half my age who say it is too hard. Of course, I started out with guys who apprenticed before electric saws or even paint rollers. Sometimes when I use a backup nail or my scratch awl when toe nailing I feel like I am being too dependent on a crutch. I guess Newtonian physics really hasn't changed. Having an immovable object to control an applied force still helps. You make frequent reference to workplace safety and good practice. I just watched the sawmill episode where you complimented the young man's adding a blade guard to the sawmill you once owned. In that context, I have to take exception with your shortcuts on scaffolding in this video. Many young craft workers post here that they look up to your example. Falls from height are a too frequent occurrence in our industry. Part of construction's decades long rank as the 3rd most dangerous occupation in America. My masonry subcontractor was working from on tier of 6' frames when a mason's tender decade fell to his death. The founder of an abatement and demo contractor I work with was the only person on site not using fall arrest, just because he never had before, when he fell. His children faced the awful decision to keep or end life support. I fell through a stairwell opening when my employee pulled the plywood covering off the opening to use it elswhere. A deficiency in scaffold railing that only existed for 5 minutes, due to my own error, led to an employee's fall and total paralysis. We all teach by example. It is everyone's responsibility to keep the examples positive.

Your workshop amazes me. My grandfather's and their fathers had dirt floors and very little to no insulation. They built their own furniture, additions to their homes, entire homes and buildings. For some reason having a concrete floor and an enclosed building with heat I can still find excuses why my projects don't get done. I'm working on that. I've completed a few more projects this winter than ever before
@wildbill23c
@wildbill23c 2 года назад
I guess then my shop is good...I have a dirt floor in my shop as well, makes trying to setup tools a pain LOL, nothing in there is level, been trying to figure out a solution for that as I think I want to keep the dirt floor, but been thinking maybe some sort of gravel or sand might be a solution to level things up and keep it that way. I'd still like to insulate and sheath the walls though, it would help a lot in the winter and could possibly heat it for winter use even with the dirt floor I'd assume. My biggest issue is trying to figure out a door solution. Right now its a split door (upper/lower) on standard hinges, they keep sagging worse all the time, and starting to cause damage to the walls of the shop where they're attached. I thought about a regular roll up garage door, but prices are ridiculous, and just wouldn't fit, it would have to be a custom cut down odd ball size, due to the foundation of the shop I can't make the opening large enough to accommodate a standard size door. So, I was thinking of tearing the doors out, building new ones, and using the barn door sliding track system, but I think it would leave a horribly large gap between the door and wall and opening of the shop when closed.
