Knowing which ports you can use is key is a Multiple Camera Setup. Cameras should not share a USB bus in order to receive full resources of the port it’s connected to. #shorts #multicamera #ecammlive #dockingstation #ndi #mevocamera

I’m using the T4 Element Hub too, with 2 HDMI capture cards/cameras into 2/3 the USB-C ports, and an iPhone as a third wide angle directly into the third USB-C port running Camo for producing podcasts. I was looking at trying to get optical HDMI cables so I could widen the distance between my cameras and produce live shows of friend’s concerts, but the 32’ iFootage optical(active) HDMI cables didn’t seem to work, even when I tried to power them via a power injector, so went back to the shorter 8’ passive HDMI cables for my 2 Sony ZV-E10s, but that’s my next task to tackle when expanding is to get some distance between the two cameras to capture more varied angles on the two cameras, so now I’m looking at an external enclosure with a PCIe Quad Link capture card, but like you said, that’s like $550 plus the enclosure so another $300 or so, so definitely have to wait on that one. I guess at that point I would maybe have to use a capture card to get the iPhone camera into Ecamm instead of the USB-C cable since I would probably sub the T4 hub out for the enclosure. I just don’t want to use a ATEM because I’d prefer the separate sources to show in Ecamm. Ahhh it’s crazy. I just wanted to start with some small podcasts for friends but now I’m turning into a whole mini production studio for podcasts, livestreams, concerts, events and more 😅 wild

I would look into either a wireless setup like with Hollyland HDMI Wireless Video Transmission or like The Flex 4K BACKPACK HDMI Encoder from BirdDog. I live using NDI and recommend having your own travel router. Keep in mind the router and to use NDI doesn’t require internet as it uses LAN connections (Local Area Network) just few suggestions.

Thank you. Feel most don’t understand the limitations of some ports and how to best work with them. I like pushing the limits so when I hear people having issues with two or three cameras I’m like what?

what is the point of the camlink? can the sony camera not go straight into the caldigit? Also, what does the caldigit plug into? and what does the stream deck plug into?

The camlink is a capture card it converts hdmi to usb at up to 4K. Some cameras can connect with USB but some will lower the resolution or require software. The Caldigit plugs into the computer or other docking stations. My Caldigit Element connects to my Caldigit TS3. Stream deck can plug into any other the docks or computer. All depends on the setup. My Mac Mini doesn’t have enough ports or resources to handle the amount of devices I may want or need to use.

@@BasicNAS ok, thank you! Very helpful. I am using a three camera setup, sony zv-1 and two iphones, would what would you recommend to get the three of them into the computer for ecamm live? My laptop has two usb ports, a usb-c port, and an hdmi port.

If you control the network, your wifi, I would get the NDI|HX camera app for the iPhone. It’s a paid app but if both phones are on the same Apple ID you only buy once. Wire the camera by USB unless you have a capture card and use the app for the iPhones. Phones and Mac on same WiFi. No ports needed for the phones. If you do not manage the wifi say at an event the bring a travel router, no internet need, wire the mac in and connect iPhones to the travel router wifi.

@@BasicNAS If I am running three cameras (one sony and two iphones & using PC not mac) into the caldigit, and also using the elgato stream deck) and using something like OBS to record, will I be able to get a recording of each camera as well as an overall file including all the switches between cameras? (i.e. 4 files) Or will I only get one file that is the overall?
