Jesus drank and the Pharisees accused him of being a drunk. The OT shares some of the health benefits of drinking as does Paul. That being said - drunkenness is clearly a sin and we are not meant to be under any power other than the power of the Holy Spirit. That's my take.

Not exactly - its about finding God’s purpose amidst vapidness - “The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭12:13‬

Pastor Landon I respect your viewpoint but as I see it, duty and purpose are different. From what I read Ecclesiastes is about purposelessness and it’s a beautiful thing that scripture makes account of it. ‘Everything is meaningless’ because it is, it absolutely is. It runs away, it seriously sadly runs away. It’s an unflinching study of entropy. It bothers me when people try to act like it’s something else cos that realness is what draws me to it and to be honest it’s what has kept me in the faith when I’ve been at my lowest, it’s the comfort of knowing you’re not alone. That others have been through it, and even god understands it. I take issue with anyone who would try to spin Ecclesiastes away from what it is, that would try to divert attention from the emptiness to make some trite point to turn it into some kind of self help pamphlet, we’ve got enough of those voices in the world... give me some real food.

Nashvillain Modern Scholars debate the authors of everything! Lol. Listening to or reading a person talk about authorship who doesn’t believe the book is not a great idea.

Oh, I see. So, one must either believe that Solomon wrote Ecclesiastes or he is a non-believer. I would absolutely love to hear the irrefutable evidence that you have for Solomon being the author of Ecclesiastes because I'm simply looking for the truth. I've heard the Ecclesiastes authorship debate in a number of places. Most recently, I saw something from the folks at The Bible Project about this book.
