ECE TEMELKURAN IN CONVERSATION WITH MISHA GLENNY
SONNTAG, 2.10. 2022 / 15h30,
AKADEMIE DER BILDENDEN KÜNSTE WIEN, SITZUNGSSAAL
The global crisis of democracy is more evident than ever. Can fixing the mechanics of representative democracy be the remedy, or should we reimagine the values of democracy altogether? Is it possible to separate the crisis of democracy from the problems of capitalism and climate injustice? ECE TEMELKURAN, Turkish journalist and author (7 Steps from Democracy to Dictatorship), was in conversation with IWM Rector MISHA GLENNY about her most recent book, Together: Against the Heartless World, where she asks whether in our age of disintegration we can reinvent Togetherness, the fundamental requirement for political action.
Ece Temelkuran is an award-winning Turkish novelist, political thinker, and public speaker. She won the Edinburgh International Book Festival First Book award for her novel Women Who Blow On Knots and the Ambassador Of New Europe Award for her book Turkey: The Insane and the Melancholy. She is the author of the internationally acclaimed book How to Lose a Country. Together: A Manifesto Against the Heartless World, her latest book has been published in several languages and recently shortlisted for the Terzani Award in Italy.
