I bought a 501P with a 20% off coupon which made it an outstanding deal. An 18” Versalite bar makes it even lighter. Fantastic saw with no electronic crap on the carb or catalyst in the muffler.
Couple weeks ago, i bought the CS-7310P, loved it so much that i went to my dealer today and bought a brand new CS-4910 just for limbing. Both of these echo saws replaced my stihl`s.
Echo CS-4910 is a great value, but the CS-501P is their 50.2 cc professional grade chainsaw. If I ever have to replace my 18 year old Jonsered CS 2152 (which has been an awesome saw), the Echo CS-501P would be my first choice.
I was between the 4910 & 501p. Did the research and found that they’re almost identical. Biggest difference was that the 501p has captured sprocket cover nuts and a metal handle. The 501p was also $100 more. I bought the 4910 (18” bar) and invested an extra $10 for a sprocket cover captured nut & hook set. Later on, I bought a 20” bar & chains. Very happy with the set up.
When I bought this saw I didn’t know it would be capable of everything it can do. Thought it was gonna b for smaller trees and limbs. But it can cut big stuff to(18”) . And it’s light.
While I certainly appreciate the review of this saw, it would’ve been nice to have seen it in action with everything stock. For those of us who don’t know how to port a chainsaw it would’ve been valuable to see it and its original version.
Thanks for the video. I just might take the plunge. I've four Stihls, an Echo, and a Dayton ($5.00 with case, I couldn't resist), but this looks real sweet
Looks like a runner Doug! I have been wanting to add the Stihl 261c to pair with my400c. I will have to look at this Echo. Same cc half the price. 👍🏻👍🏻 TOA
You’re not gonna hear me talk bad about a 261, but like you said, when it come to price, then add a 5 year warranty onto it? Something to think about for sure.
excellent review and saw def top 4 or 5 on the market personally I would run a 550 xp mii but double the price....... echo is easy to modify also big power can be made cheaply
Hey Doug, hope you are well. I like the Echo saws as well. I have a stock, Stihl 251 that I use for firewood. Last year that saw came to life. Started screaming at me. I don't know how it got better or why . No adjustment to the carb, just keep given it a nice file. I feel like it would keep up with your 4910. 18 inch bar, full house chain, semi - chisel. What are your thoughts?
I really like the 250/251’s. They are considered a homeowner/farm grade saw but they are good ones indeed. I don’t doubt a 250 would be on par with a stock 4910, but mine is far from stock. Also I was running a semi chisel chain in the video, that little thing will absolutely scream through wood with a full chisel chain.
Does it have the captive bar nut system on the side cover? I'm looking for a dependable, easy to maintain and affordable 50 cc saw. This might be the one. The multi-year warranty is also nice.
The price and warranty is what makes the 4910 stand out. Couple things: this model doesn’t come stock with captive bars nuts but they’re available. Next, Echo just announced the 4910 is being discontinued, however the 501p (essentially the same saw with upgraded parts) will still be around. Third, if you want out of the box performance in late 2023, I’d encourage you to look at the Husqvarna 545, or for a bit more the 550(mk2 model). I’d say those two saws will be around for quite some time.
Thank you Doug for sharing your blessings. I am considering the 4910 to be send to the pacific island for tsunami relief and regular firewood cutting (lots for cultural usage)...I like the mod you done with yours. Will you be willing to share what modification you done so I can workout the total expenses for this project...let me know if that is something you willing to share.
Unfortunately no. Echos new 4920 is a homeowner/farm quality clamshell design. The 4910 is a pro model at a homeowner model price (minus a few features).
@@IndianaDoug Okay, thanks a lot! I found a 4910 online and didn’t know if I should buy the other one or not. Will buy the 4910, but want it modded. I really liked what you said about it. Who did your saw?
Don’t let Doug bring it to your house and let you run it or you’ll be buying one! Ask me how I know. Seriously, you can’t beat that saw for the money. I love how that thing sounds!
@@davidgoliath982 we don’t need square grinds on our chains either, but I enjoy the extra performance. Also, high performance 2 strokes always sound ratty, you obviously don’t have one. Holler at me if you wanna have a 50cc race👍🏻
@@davidgoliath982 Can't argue with the way that thing runs. And, I love how it sounds. But, yeah - you might be right - 1" might be a little big for a 50cc work saw. Charles has some with double, I think 3/4" also, and they seem to run real good. Mine has a smaller outlet, and still sounds a little "farty" or echo'y. But, Charles definitely knows what he is doing with these things, I' mean, it's 50cc for heavens sakes. Heh heh ... I actually want to send my saw to Charles and beg him to port it. I love how light they are.
I got the cs 4910 3 weeks ago and it has not worked. Runs for a minute then dies and won’t restart for a couple minutes. Then does it all over again. Just got it back from the shop yesterday and taking it back again today for the same thing.
These saws are not impressive in stock form. You’ll certainly want to mod them. Removing the baffle from the muffle and enlarging the outlet port then retuning, increases power significantly. Mine has been completely ported.
I have a 1979 powermac 310 that I fished out of the garbage. I custom trimmed a n Oregon power match bar to it, bought a donor saw on e bay for sixty bucks and made one ass kicking saw. I would never trade it for an echo, even a brand new one. Btw, I laughed when you mentioned the price --thats a lot of money--i don't care for the saw--sorry, we all don't like it. Dealt with echo my entire career. Both echo and husky suck! I have a husky 335xpt from 1998. The carb is still over 200.00 and it is still a wall hanger in my garage. I like old mac's and Red Max for the rest. Also like jonsered and pioneer saws.
Never heard of a 610. I have an Echo CS-620 if that what you’re referring to. But it has the same mods done, and it was way more money. Regardless, I bought this 4910 for less than a new stock one cost🥴
