My 500 is melting my line because of that large piece of metal... I came here shopping for a universal 400 or 450...

He shrinks down as the video goes on. It was an editing blunder I made and he has a peach head.....since Georgia is known for peaches.

A big issue that I am finding is that the sf500 melts the inside because of the big chunk of metal that transfers heat, first shows like the line refusing to feed without pulling it out then the insides start to get worse. I haven't had any issues with 400/450. I bet it won't be long before they recall the 500s

Great video Thanks for taking your time to show people! At my Saw shop I carry an aftermarket head that replaces the speed feed 450 that my local landscapers are very happy with. I will have to look and compare it with the OEM 450 and OEM 500 I have never really had a reason to do that Oregon also makes one that is very similar but I know the one I sell is cheaper in cost seems to hold up just fine specially with the bolt modification.

@@waynepriddy1603, an aftermarket company makes them for us I believe they also make them for laser and I've been told did they make them for Oregon I do have an Oregon head in my shop I will have to open it up and see if they are the same. The company is a division of wintech plastics.

The center of the 500 DOES come out. That's how you change the piece for the different trimmers.

Have you had any issues with the lonoiz line melting in the 500? I’ve become a convert to it & wanted to be sure before upgrading to a 500 head. I’ve seen all the bad reports out there about the new 500 head melting trimmer lines. Thanks again for all of your vids!

I’ve had a couple of issues with some .0 95 line melting in there but not the .130 line. I think most people that are getting the melting issues are using the smaller diameter lines. I actually bought a bunch of speed feed for 50 heads at a dealer and I’m gonna end up using those instead of the 500s.

Hi, 17m 50s you say that you modified echo 450 chamber for it to take .130 line. How did you do it? Maybe there is a video about it? Also where do you get spare parts for 450?

I use the black diamond in different sizes and machines, on a smaller trimmer (.095"/2.4mm on srm 225 for example) it feels like you have a couple of extra cc's compared to crossfire, round or square etc. It cuts really well. For dense turgid grass that bogs your machine it's a noticeable upgrade. It's also tough, resists concrete or the thicker woodier stems etc. Throws less debris and quiet too. Some jobs I prefer a more blunt/square or round line to violently smash and throw the material, keeping the head clear, thick vines that wrap around the head/mixed vegetation are a good example, if running a more powerful machine (srm 3020) in the first place. That machine ruins any line if you hit a rock full speed, but again black diamond in the heavier gauges still cuts great if the dense vegetation/grass is slowing you down, extra productivity worth the extra cost for me.

The trimmer string line keeps breaking. I put my old one back on and it works great. I have the Echo 2360t and I love it.

400, 450, 500. I would go for the 500 since it holds more line and you can use the .130 line as well.

Does it go through the line as quickly as the 400? I despise that head. I spend more time loading, reloading, and unclogging that I do trimming.

It holds more line and it feeds easier on both the 450 and the 500 because the tunnel and there’s a larger diameter. it also depends on the line you’re using some lines just feed easier because of the way they’re made.
