I love Echo and the BunnyMen always have always will. I got all of their albums learned every song on the drums. pete was and is one of my biggest drumming influences, cheers to all Echo Fans
I had the pleasure of seeing this wonderful, magnificent band in Birmingham O2, Feb 26th. It was quite simply spectacular. This song, if I recall correctly, was played last. The Bunnymen will always be in the top 5 of my all time bands. In these days, music like this is a treaure.
Watched/listened to this last year to put me at peace before I deployed out east to a difficult job last March. Great to come back in one piece in October and be watching/listening again. Great song, fantastic version.
anthober f-that...play it Now to your Friends/Family Loud and Proud...not when it’s too late and your no where around to enjoy the please others get, listening
I watched the Echo and the Bunnymen in Rio de Janeiro in 1987 and still this show is considered the best show the band's career. And that does not show up today out of my head!!
Went to Liverpool today. On the waterfront. There is an irreverent and cool statue with the Bunnymen painted on it. A few metres along, a grand but simple statue to the man who commanded British seamen against the U-Boats, and a tribute to the men who have "No graves but the sea". I had an adrenalin rush all day.
God ... this song makes me feel like my soul comes out of me. God ... this song makes me feel like my soul comes out of me. It's so beautiful, so deep.
I was there. In the middle of a nervous breakdown. Just dropped out of teaching college. I went home to Ireland the next day. It remains the greatest gig I’ve ever witnessed. I had sex that night and have no memory ...just ocean rain
@elsoda Amazing. They played the entire Ocean Rain Album with black and white photos from the band's history displayed on giant screens from both sides of the stage. Then took an intermission and then played their standard set. There are coming back in April to play Crocodiles and Heaven Up Here in their entirety. We are going back for sure.
the best oh wow the very very best version. so peaceful... so in sync with the audience. a very special moment. thanks for posting. from a flabbergasted fan
Yes, Mac's, soaring, operatic vocals always have set the band up for an orchestral backing. The original 12" version of Silver has perhaps the finest intro to any of their songs and is all strings. If you think this was good you should have seen them in 1985. Pete's mesmeric drumming was worth the price of the ticket alone. Seemed to inject rhythm into your very soul, compelling your feet to move. No wonder Mac moved so well in those days.
Always great playing at home. Amongst the gods when Pete played between 81 and 87. Last seen em in Sheffield in 98, couldn't watch em again. Just made me aware of my mortality. Technically great, but lacking the youthful edginess the old great (to 81) songs really demand. Not the Bunnymen for me without Pete. Unless they just did post-98 stuff. Last lp fantastic, best since 81.
I don't go to concerts to hear the audience sing. It's just pure stilton when the singer keeps stopping to let them take over, working man's club stuff. If wanted to hear that, I'd go to Butlins. When it gets to that point, the band might as well just sit around on stage drinking cups of tea and reading the paper.
@@DJR1968 I'm not sure 'enjoy' is the right word but it would probably be worth heading to the clubhouse just to see Sweaty Clive belting out Delilah with his shirt off after the 17th pint of San Miguel, slipping in a puddle of sick, falling through a plate glass window and landing on top of the hunchback who hands out the clubs for crazy golf, rupturing both their hernias in a spray of pus. What am I saying? It doesn't sound like fun. Cancel Butlins.
