Saw this band at Glastonbury-spent the night in a muddy tent, had no cash or chemicals, didn't know how I would even get home but these guys lifted me and gave me 5 hrs of sheer entertainment xxx
I loved the Bunnymen back in 81. I bought Ian's solo album in 88. Good, but something missing. I got the Echoes of the bunnymen album in 1991, and saw them live in 92. They were loud. When der Will and der Ian got back under der Bunnymen banner in 97, it seemed to work, as 97 was a good year. Radiohead. Ladies and Gentleman. The Prodigy. Echo and the Bunnyman. Back.
Nice Song. They are so great to hear. I saw them in Philadelphia in the late 80's or ealy 90's. This song is much more conventional than their other music but definitely stylish. To those who commented on his looks, yes young and so handsome and that beautiful skin.
Amazing song - I've used this in a video montage for my class who leave for secondary school in a few weeks. Michael Lee's drums always sounded bombastic. R.I.P.
I can't listen to The Bunneymen without crying for Pete. All their biggest songs make me remember their early days and listening to this makes me cry more. Cos of course nothing does last forever and when Pete died, everyone who knew him suffered, a lot.
1997 was a brilliant year for music. When the Bunnymen returned with this they surely didn't spoil the party. Good that they still exist, sad the original line-up doesn't, for various tragic and private reasons.
Lyrics I want it now I want it now Not the promises of what tomorrow brings I need to live in dreams today I'm tired of the song that sorrow sings And I want more than I can get Just trying to, trying to, trying to forget I'd walk to you through rings of fire And never let you know the way I feel Under skin is where I hide The love that always gets me on my knees And I want more than I can get Just trying to, trying to, trying to forget Nothing ever lasts forever I want it now I want it now Don't tell me that my ship is coming in Nothing comes to those who wait Time's running out the door you're running in So, I want more than I can get Just trying to, trying to, trying to forget Nothing ever lasts forever All the shadows and the pain are coming to you
In the 90s, the old guys still had a chance and people gave them respect, bought their records. In th 2000s everyone takes the pi ss out of the old guys and they basically don't bother to make any new records. Thats why we have MGMT, Everything Everything and One Direction. Thanks a lot, bell wrenches.
First band I ever saw live 1980 Lancaster university I was 14 they were stood at the back of the hall watching the support band went over and started talking to the late Pete Defreitas the drummer as I had just started playing the drums he gave me a drumstick from the gig...The late Michael Lee on drums former drummer with Robert Plant and Little Angels was drummer for the band on this performance ...RIP .
Ian's great. and I just love the way he talks about Liverpool and its salty air. Took a flight from South of France just to feel that scouse magic. Never seen the band live, wish I had. But above all I wish I could share a great bottle of wine with him here down by the sea when the sun sets on the mountains...
Lyrics, to sing along to: I want it now I want it now Not the promises of what tomorrow brings I need to live in dreams today I'm tired of the song that sorrow sings And I want more than I can get Just trying to, trying to, trying to forget I'd walk to you through rings of fire And never let you know the way I feel Under skin is where I hide The love that always gets me on my knees And I want more than I can get Just trying to, trying to, trying to forget [Repeat: x4] Nothing ever lasts forever I want it now I want it now Don't tell me that my ship is coming in Nothing comes to those who wait Time's running out the door you're running in So, I want more than I can get Just trying to, trying to, trying to forget [Repeat: x4] Nothing ever lasts forever [Repeat: x8] All the shadows and the pain are coming to you
unfortunetly the smokes have caught up with him but still my all time fav for sure and always will be, would love to see them one more time for good measure!
I saw them 30 years ago and again last week (plus numerous times in between). Many bands have sold more records but few can match the Bunnymen. Just like Roxy Music in the 1970s, the Bunnymen paved the way and influenced a generation of artists. BTW, Coldplay has always acknowledged the Bunnymen.
@slugpwr The drummer is Michael Lee. Unfortunately Mike died a couple of years or so ago. He was a fantastic drummer and a good man who is sorely missed by all who knew him.
saw the most glorious version at hollywood bowl, in the sunshine. ian with huge overcoat, a month or so after evergreen was released. up and down the pacific coast with tears of love .
i saw Echo and the Bunnymen several years ago in a club and was disappointed when a new lead singer at the time came out. I didn`t know Ian left to go solo back then.
