Hello guys! in this video im going to show you how to measure the left ventricle outflow tract (LVOT) according to the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) guidelines, if you have any doubts just check your country guidelines.

Hi! I just want to ask? Is there a new guideline when it comes to measuring the LVOT? I think the new guideline is that it is now measured at the insertion of the aortic valve? Can you give us an insight of this? Thank you! :D

Hello!!!! YES ... Although some guidelines still use the "up to 1cm from the annulus"... The new BSE guideline suggest to measure the LVOT as close as the annulus as possible... That's totally correct and updated information! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻... However I'm not sure if making another LVOT video?! Or just writing in the comments this new change?! What do you think ...

In adults is around 2.1... but depends on the BSA ... Bigger persons normally have bigger LVOTS

This depends on the BSA, but normally in adults >2.0cm

@@hema3010 nothing really, just a small LVOT... You could find a smaller LVOT on tiny patients. Or maybe a basal septal bulge can make the LVOT smaller. Just be careful because this value will affect the valve area... Always take more than one value into consideration in the assessment of valve stenosis.
