i worked my way through many books in the self help section of my local book store over the past seven years when my marriage of 12 years broke down and nothing really hit me like the power of now . . it did indeed wake me up and i felt like i had for the first time grasped reality for what "IT WAS NOT" if you know what i mean? Eckhart saved my life. No i was not going to kill myself . . he made sense of it and i love living in the moment . .what a great teacher!
@@bigcheech1937 Hey 👋 bigcheech 1937 I am well My journey has continued I have travelled far down the road of enlightenment I have came across many great teachers since discovering Eckhart Although I am the same person, I cannot really identify with the old mindset I lived in I still do find myself getting into situations where I get stressed and anxious During these times I go looking for a way out of it In the past I would feel overwhelmed and not know There was a way out I return to the basics of the teaching and re centre myself So I do not claim to have perfected the teaching But for sure I don't suffer like I used to do All in all, my life has been turned around by the understanding I have learned I do try and live in the moment I accept many things rather than letting anxiety take over Isness is the way Just this week my friend's daughter was in deep stress and anxiety I had a talk with her and I was simply passing on teachings I have learned She thanked me and said it was great to talk to someone who understands I told her I was just reminding her of what she already knew That's what I remember Eckhart saying . It is Simple answers to what can feel like the most perplexing situations Can't believe I got a reply from a message I left 9 years ago So how did you discover Eckhart Has it been many years : )
I can't hug Alan Watts, but sure as hell I'm going to hug the shit out of this shining jewel if I ever meet him. I will ask permission, because I don't want to crush him.
John James really wasn't intended as click bait, since I don't have any benefit from clicks. He did make a joke didn't he? I find it hilarious, that's all. The joke is of course also the fact that you were waiting for the joke. 😀
We listen to the simple messages of people like Eckhart because we're addicted to insanity and need to remind ourselves of our inner strength and truth. This was both a good joke and a call for caution for leaning on spiritual people instead of resting in what we naturally already are fully capable of...
@Kwimalo I am indeed too fatuous to comprehend your obscure yet obviously startlingly profound and enlightened reference. I remove my cape and burn it in homage to your lofty brilliance. I have not flown away, but fallen from Grace. I can only hope that one day, in the future, you will save me.
@Clodknock this guy lived on a bench for 3 years. there is nothing wrong with making money. Our society actually demands it. This man has something to offer, so people will continue to make sure he's fed and has somewhere to sleep. People like him aren't very common, he does more good talking to the whole world than teaching a class
Human thinking consists of analizing about future and past, this is most of our thinking. If you wait for something to happen, you already think about future and forget yourself.
I wish some of my friends would sit in silence and shut-up at times. Then there might be something worth talking about and some amusement to go with it. Love you Eckharte. Power of Now worked a miracle and i love you forever for it, even if you don,t take the credit, and i know you never will.
@@josie3221 Just seeing bullshit behaviour when i see it. Done with it. Maybe i used the word friend lightly but what do you them when you have no enemies.
Extraordinarily presumptuous indeed I would have walked out after thirty seconds It's only funny after three minutes if he metamorphosises into an alien
The 'Mind' gets very uncomfortable when faced w/ 'just being' or 'presence' - knee jerk attack or literally going to sleep seems to be all it knows - I'm not angry at that response anymore and that feels really freeing.
@dangraphic It's not a lack of sensitivity. On the contrary. If someone's snapping back at you, they probably see your intellectual position as an attack upon theirs. Also, if a boatload of people decide to buy a book that I wrote, this wouldn't change my character in the slightest, except perhaps in the minds of those who were looking for facile means by which to criticize me. Tolle's a good guy by almost any standard, and I fail to understand your cynicism toward him. Please elaborate.
@dangraphic Hi, keep in mind that just because someone enjoys Eckhart's works doesn't mean that they purport to be in touch with their 'higher mind'. And everyone is quite capable of becoming defensive now and again, even if they have bettered themselves with whatever practice they get involved in. For my part, I find Eckhart Tolle to be the genuine article, and for me his work has been a joy. Cheers.
@WolfEyesatNight A drum is an object that is either a device to contain something (Vat, etc.) or a rhythmic musical instrument that is usually tapped/slapped or hit with a stick by hand in order to produce a beat providing rhythmic accompaniment or played on its own or with other drums. It can also be a word used for metaphor, ie: I kept trying to drum it into them, but alas, they did not understand.
I Love Eckhart but wow.......this..............................................................man..........................................................................................can........................................................................................................pause.
You basically concede defeat right there. People have experienced the exact same thing with countless religions and spiritual journeys, making your claim quite unextraordinary.
The best humor is to be hit over the head with irony. Hilarious humor is irony that renders the simplicity of what was the ego thought to be complicated astoundingly simple. LIke the old Zen koan stories or Haiku by Basho...utterly simple and yet utterly transcending. This RU-vid presentation was the setup without the punchline. If it is hilarious then it's your own ego being jarred by some revelatory punchline of simplicity within yourself. If it's not, then it's not.
Amazing wisdom! A few years ago I had a profound awakening after reading the power of now. I was so moved by that book that I wrote a song inspired by the book called "All Things Subside". It's on my channel if you want to check it out.
You don't need money to listen to his teachings. You have RU-vid! Plus he's putting alot of videos on youtube himself. And is it wrong for him to charge money for his seminars. He needs some money to live on. The reason why he's rich is because people WANT to pay for it to see him live. And those who can't or don't have enough money can watch him on youtube or buy his books for maximum 20$. It's your choice to see him wherever you want but it doesn't cost that much.
Dat painbody attack. People in every single religion have experiences that they claim "prove" their religion is true. If one was to accept the claim that your experiences prove your religion is correct, then there is nothing to preclude the same person from accepting others' claims that their experiences prove their religions correct as well. As a result, we're left exactly where we started: with all religions comprised of the same truth value.
@liammateer Eckhart Tolle isn't forbidding you to think; he's suggesting that thought causes problems that most people do not recognize. Yes, it does sound weird at first! Is this just more stupid New Age mumbo-jumbo? Well, I'm a science-oriented atheist and I like what Tolle says. I also like that he delivers the message with minimal frills. If you like even fewer frills, you could check out my blog (link in my profile). It MIGHT give you a glimmer of what Tolle demonstrates.
What you resist persists. The more you resist yourself or your ego the stronger it becomes. This is called self-contradiction and self-sabotage. Hypocrisy.
@kartulipuder yes true ,but thinking is also IN THE PRESENT. the experinces and function of thinking is anever present emenation from source ,being, creativity, shakti.....sahaja samadi is far more than silence states..far more than meditive "stillness"
@greggb777 Yes, very good question. I myself suffer a lot of physical pain, and very rarely suffer emotional pain. Their really is no clear cut answer to this, about all you can do is try not to fight it, allow it and realize you are not the pain, you are the space where the pain is taking place, some spiritual masters have the ability to totally detach from physical pain and transport their awareness to a different time and place. Easier said then done I know, take care Greg
@TheStarlister That seems reasonable... At least you are one that didn't bark at me for having doubts about Tolle... Which truly doesn't help make the man any more convincing, quite to the contrary. That people whom are 'PURPORTEDLY' mastering their emotions and minds, would snap back at me for having my doubts and expressing my opinion. Thee people whom are 'purportedly' in touch with their higher minds, are shamefully showing the lack of sensitivity and understanding that they say they have.
@MyAntijesus Indeed, there is no point in pretending. One has to truly make the jump; to let oneself die to the past and be continuously reborn in the present. Then there is no pretending and real innocence blooms by itself - a boundless sense of wonder for existence arises. From this realization - of innocent, present, timeless being - arises effortless awareness, which is bliss.
If Jesus came back, seems as we would crucify him again...we must recognize what lies within ourselves and expand it like Eckhart does so people can become more free of illusions. Thank you for not doing, but being that
This is great, I love Eckhart! He has such a great way of putting things in a way that makes so much sense! I'm a songwriter and when I read the power of now I was so inspired that I wrote a song based on the book called "All Things Subside".... Check it out on my channel if you're interested!
