I have a stock 2015 eco boost platinum. I love the turbo sound
@wildfirewoodandmetalworx2409
My 22 eco 2.7 is loud as fuck without the silencers and the VTA mod. Literally sounds like a diesel truck spooling up now😂 My wife heard me coming through our neighborhood 1/4 mile away👍🏻🤙🏻
@GooseAutoWorks

Yeah I can definitely tell. Not sure why it varies so much from truck to truck or person to person, but I like it 😎

Those are NOT turbo silencers, they help spin the incoming air for faster spooling, some dingbact said the are silencers and everyone with a RU-vid channel jumps on it spreading the bs
@GooseAutoWorks
@GooseAutoWorks 11 месяцев назад
Yep. I think they actually call them vortex generators. But a lot of people have reported being able to hear the turbos more, and I’ve had no adverse consequences. No doubt less turbulent air flow, while better for efficiency, also decreases NVH, but up to the individual user if the juice is worth the squeeze so to speak. Plus it’s easily 100% reversible.

The hot side compressor is the only place anything matters. If you think swirling inlet air before it hits the cold side wheel does anything you're mistaken.
@justinbales5378
@justinbales5378 7 месяцев назад
They are for nvh and are actually aimed counter the rotation of the turbos. So whatever they call them.

They do help spool faster, but by STOPPING air rotation, so that the turbulence is eliminated where the intake splits. Otherwise the vortexes from the turbos would travel backwards up to the intake split and then turbulence and resistance would result.

A small cone filter with metal top makes it sound a lot better than open tube. Trust me I did it today and listened to it both ways. With filter it sounds so much better. Like I said, I used a small filter similar to a cold air intake filter. It spanks !

How do you attach the breather ? Is there some sort of coupler you need ?
@GooseAutoWorks
@GooseAutoWorks 10 месяцев назад
Usually it’s just a hose clamp. In this case you’d probably want a breather that would fit over the diverter valve nub.
@YUT.308
@YUT.308 18 дней назад
So as many have said these are not T silencers they are velocity collars. Also the a T does not recirculate into the intake just for recirculation is slows the rpm of the T bearings as so you don't slam on them. These were designed for stop and go everyday commuting not racing.

I know some people could never hear theirs. I always could, and can hear them better now. And then the VTA is an obvious difference. But none of it’s meant to be too serious. Just an easy mod for fun. Sorry it didn’t work out for you, but thanks for watching.

Mines 2020 did not make a difference at all not louder just add blow off valves from summit racing and it sounds great that worth it
@NoahFoster-h9g
@NoahFoster-h9g Месяц назад
So you only cap off the intake side, not the bov? Leave it open correct?
@GooseAutoWorks
@GooseAutoWorks Месяц назад
Correct. If you do anything, you can put a small breather filter on to keep dirt dobbers out something out, but you don’t want to cap it. Otherwise the excess air pressure can’t vent.

I just did this mod on my 2018 3.5 and removing the “silencers” definitely made the turbos louder but then when I did the blowoff valve mod I can barely hear the whistle now. Did this happen to anybody?

You only removed the rigid piping, correct? And did you cap off the hole from the upper area it attached to?

@@GooseAutoWorks I ordered a cap for the other pipe. Just wanted to test it by using tape lol. Maybe that is causing it. Will try it again once I get the correct cap fitting for it.

its because after 2017 ford used bigger turbos that spool slower which is why the newer ones dont whistle

Is all of this the same with the 2018 2.7? Also What all does this improve if anything at all.
@GooseAutoWorks
@GooseAutoWorks Месяц назад
I think it’s pretty much the same. The layout may be slightly different, but the method carries over. It doesn’t improve anything per se. It’s more just for fun; to hear the turbos spool better and to get that audible blow off noise. I personally love it and have had zero issues at all since doing the mods.
@jeremiahjohnson8989
@jeremiahjohnson8989 19 дней назад
I’m probably over thinking this. But….. by unhooking the dump valve to the intake, in my theory it should over all allow cooler intake air by not recirculating and or releasing the hotter pressurized air into the intake. Most likely minimal if any difference, just my thought.
@jeremiahjohnson8989
@jeremiahjohnson8989 19 дней назад
Also just checked my 23’ and it doesn’t have the “silencer” anti vortex things in it

@jeremiahjohnson8989
@jeremiahjohnson8989 19 дней назад
@@GooseAutoWorksit has to be higher it’s inevitable. By design turbo charger air is higher due to running through a mechanical device that uses hot exhaust gases to function. But like I said the difference in the intake would be minimal at best

are there any disadvantages to removing the “silencer” and VTA system?
@GooseAutoWorks
@GooseAutoWorks 6 месяцев назад
No. The “silencers” are basically just for NVH. The VTA just makes the diverter valve act as a blow off valve. My fuel economy hasn’t changed at all and it sounds a lot better in my opinion.

OK how come nobody saying that when you undo the blow off valve you no longer need to buy the oil catch can how come nobody talks about that
@GooseAutoWorks
@GooseAutoWorks 10 месяцев назад
Hello. So those systems don’t really overlap. My catch cans still collect oil blow by. The plumbing removed from the diverter valve puts it back into the intake pre-throttle body. The lines that carry oil blow by come from the valve cover and crankcase.
@cheeznhard
@cheeznhard Месяц назад
Catch can is for blow by hole in the intercooler or VTA helps with condensation
