Great video! I had an Ecoflow Blade for a month before I returned it and got the Mammotion Luba 5000. To summarize, the Blade was horrible but the Luba 5000 is amazing and I couldn't be happier. I have wide open skies so no issues with RTK positioning with either robot, the main issue with the Blade was the omnidirectional wheels and poor software. It couldn't handle any inclines in my yard and would spend most of its battery spinning around trying to get unstuck. I have a huge incline in my parkway and the Luba 5000 handles it like a tank with the 4-wheel drive rubber tires. It can literally handle anything and get itself out of any situation. The battery lasts longer (2.5-3hrs) and charges faster (~1hr) than the Blade. The cut quality is better with the two individual blade decks (15.7" cutting width) that cuts to the edge. With a recent firmware update they upped the max cutting area from 1.25 acres to 2.5 acres! The software is hands down better in too many ways to describe. You can adjust the speed of the Luba when you're mapping or mowing so you can literally drive it around like an RC car if you want and map a huge yard in 5 minutes. The Blade only maps with one speed which is incredibly slow. One of the best features is that you can delete individual mowing areas, no go areas or channels without deleting the whole map (not the case with Blade!). What's even better is that with a recent firmware update, they let you edit the boundaries so if there's one spot in your yard that you don't like how the Luba is handling it, you can edit just that 5-30 ft boundary for example without messing with the rest of your map. It actually follows your boundary perfectly (unlike the Blade) and you can program it to do 1,2,3 or 4 boundary cuts before it starts cutting the main mow area. Most importantly from a lawn care perspective is that you can control the angle of the cut and can put patterns in your lawn so you're not always mowing the same direction/pattern. So maybe you mow North/South on Monday, then East/West on Wednesday and then another day you can mow it on a diagonal..... very awesome! Another thing to note for people with big trees, the RTK beacon doesn't have to be installed/connected to the charging base so if you need to mount the RTK on your roof or on top of a fence which is 50 yards away from your charging base....no problem! Hope this helps someone out there.

WHEELS: are your Lumba Wheels [ ] the Original Tractor-like wheels (front & back the same) [ ] or the Omni Front Wheels (like the Blade)?
@alexlanders9005
@alexlanders9005 Год назад
@@tulsatom4307 all four wheels are the same, thick rubber tires (not omnidirectional in the front like they are offering as a model choice now). Personally I'd steer clear of the omni wheels. Like I said above, the AWD four rubber tires can tackle the craziest hills. They can handle even bigger inclines than Husqvarna's $5k AWD model. The Luba 5000 is literally a tank, even on wet grass.

It sucks just trust me. My lawn still hasn’t came back in the corner where it decided to go so far off track and get stuck. I legit set the boarder line 4 ft away from the dip and it went Straight towards it. I got two boxes of extra blades and screws if you need them! I love ecoflow but there mower was extremely rushed during testing. You need to put the beacon on the corner yes, and if your mower goes anywhere near the cable you need to burry it no if ands or butts, I was told to steak it to the grass and I did it. But still cut the cable twice. Looks like they did change up the back wheels. The front wheels suck mainly because if you go slighty down at a decline the motor doesn’t have enough power to pull it back up and around.

Hello Lawn Care Nut, I bought one of these ecoflow blade's. got it back in January early this year, I did not unbox it until about now 2 and 1/2 weeks ago, ran into some issues, called ecoflow about it, they sent me a nice letter saying that the ecoflow blade is discontinued. Very disappointed. What do you think? BLUE

Thanks for the honest review. I have a spinal injury and while I love a great lawn that’s just not in the cards for me to physically accomplish BUT we have had some success with a robot vacuum so my wife is on board for a robot lawnmower. Our lawn is bumpy and that’s an understatement…because it was replaced incorrectly after a tornado. I hope they resolve the issue soon and we can pickup a robot lawnmower to reduce the amount of tasks my wife has to do.

If you need something RIGHT NOW, consider looking at the Mammotion Luba mowers. They have the 1000, 3000, and 5000 models depending on how large your yard is. My lawn was never pristine. It was in terrible shape when I bought the home, and so far I've only had time to fix the weeds and haven't had a chance to level it out or re-seed it. It is a very lumpy lawn with 30 degree slope along one edge of it. It is bermuda grass that has been growing too tall too quickly and has required more mowing than I want to do in the summer heat to keep the HOA happy. So I bought the Luba 1000. So far I've only had it for a week and it has been handling the bumpy lawn with ease since it is a heavier mower with more power than the ecoflow blade. There are a few warts though: 1: The anti-theft systems are arguably inadequate since a thief would need to connect Luba to their home wifi for it to ping its location for help. Some users have resorted to hiding airtags or GPS trackers on or within the mower. 2: The battery is not readily accessible for user replacement. Time will tell how big of an issue that will be. 3: The 5000 models have been known to wear a donut shaped hole in the lawn approximately 1 meter in front of the charging station since that it is where it always does its reversal maneuver to recharge. The 1000, 3000, and in some regions a subset of the 5000 models have omniwheels for the front wheels that should reduce wear on the lawn when turning. I haven't had mine long enough to see if the problem will develop with the new wheels. The omni-wheel models have only just started being shipped to consumers. I hope that future software updates will be able to randomize the position of the reversal maneuver. Until then, you might want to move the charging station to where the eyesore isn't immediately visible. 4: While the newer lubas have omni-wheels like the ecoflow, they're arrayed differently in such a way where I don't think that they'll have the same issues that the ecoflow experiences. However I do worry that they might have trouble with pine needles. I have no pine needles on my property, so I'll never know firsthand. 5: Large trees with dense foliage can block the GPS signal that Luba uses to navigate, so if you have many trees on your property then luba may not work well. That's what I can think of off of the top of my head. My luba has only gotten stuck once, and that was because I mapped the lawn too close to a flower bed and it attempted to climb the brick of the perimeter wall into the bed. It climbed up enough to trigger the lift sensor which shut down the mower as a safety precaution. But that was my fault for mapping the perimeter too close to the obstacles. IMO you should expect to still need to do a light amount of mowing/trimming around the perimeter of your home or any obstacles. If you don't have an immediate need, it might be prudent to wait a few years. I suspect more manufacturers will start adopting RTK guidance, and I imagine that RTK guidance will be combined with vision to help improve performance amidst heavy tree cover. Like I said, I haven't owned mine for long yet. But so far I am very happy with it and my primary concern is someone stealing it. edit: the luba also currently has the same cut height range as the eco-flow, which as has been stated is an issue for some breeds of grass. Newer models with a larger range of cut deck are in the works but aren't available yet.
@kore996
@kore996 Год назад
@@GeneralArmchair wow you are an awesome human for taking the time and detail for helping me with that info. I really appreciate it. We only have 3 trees right now because we have a smaller property but we have been looking for a couple years to get a slightly larger home and property and I like the RTK style since it doesn’t require wires to be installed and we can easily take it with us to the next house…if that ever happens 😂. The way I think of robots in general are that they help about 80-90% but there’s still some form of human involvement still. At least that’s the way it is with our robot vacuum so far. We’ve had it for almost 2 months and that why we are considering a robot lawn mower because my wife is now slightly convinced that it could help and be convenient. The robot vacuum still has its quirks though. For the lawn mower I’d expect that she would still need to trim along the perimeter and obstacles or the occasional mow. Our main concern is the super bumpy lawn but the general contractor is supposed to fix they issue they caused when they repair after the tornado. It’s pretty bad and you have to watch that you don’t roll an ankle right now. I like the Lubo but I’m worried in general for a lot of companies because I wonder what the lifespan is from a robot mower for serviceability like you mentioned. My concern is the battery, deck motor, wheel driving motors and even if those are fine I worry that companies decide not to support it anymore or close up shop and I don’t know if that means the mower will still function or does it rely on the manufacturer to operate? Will it be like a cell phone and they just stop support and then you are forced to upgrade. These are some of my concerns. Thanks again!!
@GeneralArmchair
@GeneralArmchair Год назад
@@kore996 Long term serviceability is definitely a concern with the Luba. From my limited personal experience and with reviews from others, the mower seems to be a good job but signs of growing pains in other areas are definitely visible with mammotion. Personally I feel like most of the other companies manufacturing mowers have been resting on their laurels for years with their guide-wire driving roomba style mowers. I think Husqvarna might be the only solidly established company offering an RTK guided mower, but theirs clocks in at twice the cost of some of the Luba models. I read about some home-made solutions that grew out of something called the Ardumower project, but the documentation that I could find on it was mostly in german. I just don't have time to devote to a DIY project of that level right now, but the final solution at least would be something where you could replace everything and weren't reliant upon support from a single company. Normally I mow while wearing a filtered mask because of my grass allergies, but the heat has been unbearable for wearing a mask this year and one too many nastygrams from the HOA pushed me over the edge to rolling the dice with luba. I might get burned with early adopter problems, but I'm hoping it can last me 4-5 years so that it can save me some money in the long run compared to hiring someone to mow my lawn. I might be capable of taking it apart myself to replace a simple battery, but if it can just last me a few years then I hope something more refined will be on the market in the future. For example I was attracted to the Worx brand mowers since their mowers have readily replaceable batteries that use the same batteries as their brand of cordless power tools. But the Worx mowers all use guide wires with the exception of their new "vision" model that replaces the wire with unsightly magnetic strips that sit upon the surface of the grass, and even then it still does the inefficient roomba style navigation. I suspect that the future is a combination of RTK for map definition and high level route planning, with some kind of vision sensor providing obstacle avoidance and backup navigation during periods of poor GPS reception that may be encountered under trees or within an alley between homes between the front and back yards.
@patricksquires77
@patricksquires77 Год назад
Wow - Robot mowers are closer to where I would want it to be then I was thinking. This mower should Raise the bar on other brands too cause there is enough competition coming in now. I feel like todays robot mowers will mow good enough to not get fines but not well enough to dominate…. This is allot closer to the dominate then I was thinking we were at…. Man we could be within a year or two of an awesome mower.

My experience with these robot mowers is that this will never replace a person to mow. Personally anyone who relies on this to replace mowing is slightly lazy plus it’s expensive. These robot mowers could never do my yard also cause I constantly get pine cones falling out my trees onto the lawn and the robot would mow around it from all the robot reviews I’ve seen.

It's absolutely not for people that have dogs. those angled wheels will be filled with dog turds in the first 5 minutes.

luba worked much better but the app is still really beta. Lots of issue with app and zero customer support.

Ok, please, do not play any music while you're narrating. It is distracting. And FWIW, it is not necessary. Think of the time saved by not having to add the music. Thanks. Ok, so now back to the 20+ minutes to see how you like it.

See. It can be made much cheaper ($1400 cheaper than the Italian one) with better electronics (consistent with this millennia). There is still room for improvement, but the design direction of this mower is parallel to what I would have done.

but it is reality in a large portion of the population. I think we showed pretty well what happens - he had to remap the entire thing. We talk more about that in the podcast as well. Thanks for watching!

Robot mowers have not been perfected yet, obviously. Can you teach it to get you food and beverages so you don't have to get off the couch? How lazy we American's are becoming.
