Already bought the Delta 2 Max (QVC deal $1249 WITH 220W Bifacial panel) Also QVC had special extra Delta 2 Max battery for $800. So $2050, no interest, 5 payments, for Delta 2 Max, EXTRA Max 2 battery + 200w bifacial solar panel. Sorry the delays are over. I’m Uber happy for what i received not only at this price, but all the features. Thanks to the solar gods!

Great video! I was trying to decide if I should get the older version and save some money, or go for the latest. The update in battery technology, dual charging inputs, and longer warranty sold me on the new version. As an aside, I think the 110 outlets on the back on the unit is a feature, not a bug, as it helps reduce cable clutter.

The LFP, expandability and useful phone app made this a no-brainer choice for me. EcoFlow is on the run providing new and reliable technologies with great support. I'm selling my Jackery products and putting those resources into more EcoFlow solar panels.

I think the Delta 2 Max is the best option for most people. What is really great is that you can connect two different solar arrays to it. One could be pointed more to the morning sun and the other array could be pointed to the afternoon sun. This works great if you are unable to keep the solar panels pointed at the sun. I also like that it is portable at 51 pounds instead of the heavier Delta Pro or other large generators.

@@TobyCostaRica I guess? The fact that Jackery just refreshed their line to make it "pro" and didn't include LFP, app control, UPS, expansion, etc. is a real head scratcher. I still hope Goal Zero has been working on a big refresh, we'll see. Ecoflow, Bluetti, Zendure, Green, etc. are going to eat their lunch unless they step it up.

Recently I had the opportunity to run the Delta 2 Max and Smart Extra Battery for a prolonged nighttime power outage. Temps were in the upper 30's. I have a gas furnace, so I only need to power the blower to heat the house. The blower spikes at about 700 watts but runs at around 300 watts. It might run about 30 minutes per hour. I also run a full size refrigerator and small chest freezer which cycle on and off as needed. Most lights in the house are LED or CFL. Under these conditions the Delta 2 Max was estimating about 11 hours of capacity. 10 hours might be more accurate if we were up and using the fridge or microwave. Previously I would power everything with a 3000 watt Honda. It would burn about 3 gallons per day. Now with the Ecoflow Dual Fuel Generator only charging the batteries twice per day I would likely burn the equivalent of about 2 gallons per day, but only running for about 4 hours instead of the Honda running all day. The batteries and dual fuel generator are also much easier to set up.

Hi Todd, very informative review. I got interested in battery backup just last month because a solar rooftop vendor stopped by and really got my attention on the tech. My neighbor behind my house uses a generator when the power goes out (unfortunately too often in our neighborhood), and it’s annoyingly loud even over here! The EcoFlow Delta 2 Max seems like the best of consumer, but still not as powerful or convenient as the roof-mounted options - but DANG are the rooftops expensive! But it seems these consumer-level solutions also can’t handle running my AC/furnace… is that the right assessment of the current state? #sorryirambled
@todd.parker
@todd.parker Год назад
If you have 240 dual phase appliances like an AC unit or well pump, most power stations can’t power those. The Delta Pro and Bluetti AC300/500 can sync a pair of units to do that but it’s large and expensive. Waiting for a one box solution…

too me awhile to figure out which end is mc4 and which is xt60 since none of the generator companies make this clear enough. Would be as simple as labeling a pic and suggesting the 10 gauge wire for lengths over 25', which is apparently accurate. Would STILL like to know a company or link to a 50' cable xt60 to mc4 in 10 gauge. May have to buy tinned wire and solder crimp on desired couplings...

I understand using a PS to power a refrigerator during high cost grid time and charging with passthrough at low cost grid times. But what is the actual savings ? Assuming the equipment is amortized over 8 to 10 year, main unit, extra battery, solar panels, wiring and any other bits needed to connect and set up. I wonder if anyone has made a spreadsheet that could be used to balance the best equipment with a specific circumstance.

I just got the Delta Max 2000 for $1,100 on Prime day. It will be my UPS in the winter and go in my trailer in the summer. I also have a dual fuel 2,500 watt generator in my trailer. It seems, for your pacifica, a simple double throw switch would have been a simple solution. Simple turn or throw of the switch changes from alternator to solar panel, and retain the much higher input voltage (though of course the alternator isn't going to be over 60Vdc and it's unlikely you'll hae enough panels on hand, in series in the van.
@todd.parker
@todd.parker Год назад
A switch is probably better than unplugging/re-plugging but doesn't solve the issue that you'd want to charge from both the alternator and solar at the same time so the D2MAX is a nice upgrade there.

Outputs on the back are dumb, and the buttons to turn them on and off are not placed well and hard to feel without seeing them. Mppt and inverter are not very efficient, my Victron setup charges faster from solar and the inverter uses much less watts. Bluetooth. Hate only being able to connect with WiFi, this is supposed to be off-grid so Bluetooth makes more sense and is faster. The 12v output is not very powerful, wish we had like a 10Amp output.

Each 4 panel array of 100 watt panels produce a little over 200 watts each on average, yes, you need lots of panels to get anywhere, so connect two arrays to get over 400 watts.

I been testing my delta pro max 2 with 220w bifacial panels for the last 2 weeks and they can barely keep up with a 160w output, the panels only produce 168w max (houston texas area) for 5 hrs, 100w for 2 hrs and below 50w for 4 hrs that's when we have a mostly sunny day
@todd.parker
@todd.parker 2 месяца назад
160w from a 220w panel is 72% of it's rated output which is a bit low, I'd expect closer to 80% of it's rating during peak hours - you never get close to it's rating in real world conditions. In general, I use 80% of rating x 5 hours of good sun a day to calculate the watt hours it can produce on a sunny day which would net out to 880wh so it would take a little more than 2 days to recharge a max with no loads attached. In short, you need a lot more solar if you want to run 160w for extended periods - that would be 3,840wh in a 24 hour period.

It took me a few days to figure out whose XT-60 cable to buy to use with my Anker unit (they do not sell one, and the one they supply is not optimal for me because I do not use their panels) because I could not get an answer from anyone regarding the polarity of the connector and I did not want to destroy my inverter! Anker told me which side is positive and which is negative. I really like what they have done with this Ecoflow unit. I still prefer my Anker 767 which was initially replaced because the wiring was reversed on the AC inputs; all is well now. Their CS was great but delayed by a day each time I emailed them. An engineer replied to my questions and most of what I got from them was over my head (I am NOT an electrician) but I understand why Anker uses the technology they do. I am not pushing either brand because I think they are BOTH great products. Todd does a great job reviewing these things.

Great Video. I was thinking of upgrading to the Delta 2 Max from a Goal Zero Yeti 1400 in my campervan. But on the Goal Zero I use the Anderson Power Pole DC out hooked to a fuse block. I believe its 20amps. I see no equivalent on the Ecoflow. I would plug my fridge to the cig plug but where on the Ecoflow would I power a fuse block?

I wonder if the xt connection is better. I purchased a Delta Pro for some friends (along with a pallet of solar panels and large spool of direct bury wire), and they have plugged in the solar, unplugged it once, and when they went to plug it in again.. the xt connector fell inside. It has been sent back and is to be replaced with new under warranty, but I've found other instances of this. One would think, for something designed to be "portable" and have solar plugged in and unplugged many times.. it would last more than a couple of connections.

I looked at amazon reviews for different "solar power stations" or whatever and there are comments like yours for every brand. Ecoflow, Bluetti, Jackery, Anker etc... many reviews for every brand of people saying they bought one and it broke after a few months, they got a new one and it broke as well. Quality on these sort of devices seem poor across the board. Ecoflow gets a lot of hate from what I've seen online but the other brands didn't really seem to fare any better on Amazon. Sucks that apparently no one builds good reliable solar power stations.

If one also owned the Ecoflow fossil fuel generator, is there a way via the app to time that to only come on during certain hours of the day? For example, if one were dry camping around other campers, I would not want the generator to be firing up in the middle of the night. Instead, maybe I should come on after 9 AM.

I would argue that the dual solar input is an feature, if you put all of your panels in series, a partial shade on one of the panels will draw down the whole array, if you have 2 separate panel arrays one will still deliver. Also, on a camper, you could have the roof mounted array on one plug and a portable array on the other plug and use both, with different orientation you get more hours of sun Sadly there are no youtube giveaways for me living in Sweden, and it is quite expensive here.

Great video! Would it be fine if I always left the Delta 2 plugged in to use the EPS feature for my PC or would this degrade the internals much faster than only turning it on when needed?
@todd.parker
@todd.parker Год назад
That's no problem. When you have this plugged into the wall and plug in a PC, it actually just bypasses the inverter and feeds the power directly from the grid to your computer. When the grid power goes it, it flips a switch inside to turn on the inverter and start using the battery within 30ms so the power station isn't really getting any wear and tear in this setup.

I have 3 x 220p Serial array at PV1. Often reach 499w input. Summer Late noon. I have 1x 220w panel at PV2. Often 170w input. Both array under 500w spec limit. The cutoff. You have 2 x400w. I would put one at PV1. And one at PV2. Both will have no cutoff. You get full potential wattage.

On a SUPER Bright Full Sun day my 3 x 220w array can output 560w. D2M will input 500w. Because of the cutoff. However when day more cloudy, or Early morning or Late afternoon my 3x220w array produces more watts via OVER-Paneling.
