For the record, my unit is also faulty. Auto-drain setting on and still will not drain a single drop of water out the hose. EcoFlow is aware of the issue and is accepting warranty fulfillments on faulty units but you do have to ship the faulty unit back first, so if you (like me) no longer have the original box and packing material and live in a rural area where there's no FedEx shipping centers nearby, it may be easier just to try your hack. Looks like this is what I'll be doing. Thanks for sharing.

Just want to follow up and say that this fixed my issue as well. The water is now draining out the hose as it should be. Fantastic. Thanks again.

Thanks! The pump dies in these units and after that it just won't drain. This little trick seems to have worked. That will save me a nightmare of return/exchange.

I keep my wave2 on a table and run the drain tube into a bucket. At the end of the day I empty it into the sink. I noticed every time I turn on my Wave2 I need to go on the EcoFlow app and click on settings then automatic drain then click on external drain. It won’t let any water drain out of the tube unless I do that.
@Thecoutch
@Thecoutch 9 месяцев назад
I don't have a phone that takes apps so that was out for me. Once I drilled out the drain adapter in the machine that empties into the tube haven't had any further drainage problems. Another viewer commented on tipping his at a slight angle towards the drain tube and I did that as well. I can just turn it on and off at will now without worrying about water build-up. Thanks for the comments!!!!!

You do not need an app to activate the drain function on the Wave 2. It's in the manual to perform a long press on the right most button, not the power button, to activate the drain via the tube. I feel your advice to drill the drain plug is a perman mechanical override of that push button drain activation function.

I've mine in my van. I don't use the app. I forgot all about the drain. Of course, it worked really, really well without the app, lol! It completely soaked the car seat! 😅

@@ridgehilljillie9429 I’ve noticed every time I use my Wave2 AC mode it won’t drain automatically unless I go into the app in settings and click on automatic drain. But I’m sure everything can be done manually if you don’t have the app. It’s just easier for me to use the app.

Everyone else tilts the machine only a couple degrees so the water in the reservoir has a positive flow through the tube as it was made in the factory, we did this and had zero problems for 2 weeks out bush, just tilt the machine 😊

Hi John Sorry to hear about those ac issues. What I have found out from ecoflow is when needing the most cooling both vents must be vented outside thus the the two hole template. There is also a function that dries up the water. Also sometimes certain functions are only available from their app. Either on a phone or a tablet like an iPad. I feel for ya ...the heat is really bad. The top vent hose vents warmer air the bottom one bings in fresh air.
@Thecoutch
@Thecoutch 10 месяцев назад
Didn't want to use both vents due to excessive heat down here where I'm at. I'd have hot air venting right next to an intake that would already be taking in triple-digit heat all summer-didn't seem like an optimal set-up to me. The water issue is no longer a problem after I made my small fix. Thanks for watching and your nice comment!!!!!!

@@Thecoutch I thought it might be more efficient to at least put that warm air out side instead of in the place you want to cool. Plus if it did get pulled back in, it would then be cooled. You could also set it up outside and put the vent adapter over the front vent where the cold air exits and put the vent hose through your hole into the inside. Hope all is well.

I used both vents from indoors to outdoors ,sealing around the tubes to insure proper airflow BUT I too had water dripping and not draining out from where it should. Thank you so much, I feel better knowing it was not my fault and it's a defect. I will try what u did , after I first tilted allll the water that was overflowing.I was so scare!😅
@davidpalmer9780
@davidpalmer9780 4 месяца назад
Actually it's a user problem. The instructions tell you how to activate the drain function so the water exits via the pipe. When moving the Wave 2 you place a container under the drain point, unplug the pipe then gently recline/ reward tilt the Wave 2 to drain the internal water reservoir. There is no fault with the Wave 2 causing it to leak.
@VincentHarrydragonphire
@VincentHarrydragonphire Месяц назад
@@davidpalmer9780 This is a gross assumption on your part. I have the same issue and I've contacted their support and went through all the troubleshooting steps including "user error" and the end result is that my drain is defective and I have to send the unit back in. Again, this is according to Ecoflow Support. Not sure how it isn't their fault when they say it is.

Don’t see where or how you attached the tape. I am having the same drain issue. The hose is plugged in but no water coming out unless I take the plastic part off and tilt back. I ended up breaking down that little nub thing and plugging the plastic part back in with the hose don’t know if it will leak since no tape but hopefully the water finally drains out of it. I also slightly tilted the unit back to maybe help the water out of the unit. I live in my van. I have the exhaust pipe going out the window but don’t use the intake hose since the air outside is either too hot or if heating the air outside is too cold. In hide sight I wish I just bought a $50 window unit cause the wave 2 sucks.

Once I vented the intake hose to draw in air from the outside I started getting much less condensation. You might try doing this as well to see if it helps.
@jasonligon5937

Instead of adding extra piping, you could just insert a plastic funnel into that hole in your storage compartment. You're only short about an inch and half and a funnel would cover any movement from the hose and still drain out onto the pavement.

Thanks for the tip but I had a short piece of left-over tubing that worked nicely-drains out below perfect now. I did like the funnel idea though!!!!Thanks for the comment!!!!!!

I run my drain into a 2liter bottle if I can’t just run it into a drain or something. Mine will fill a 2liter bottle over night without any issue. No fuss. It just drains. Otherwise it fills its inside storage and shuts off. Maybe theirs a piece of plastic or something not in the plug in piece. But in the unit from manufacturing that shouldn’t be or something. Mine works great
@davidpalmer9780

I believe his problem is he never activated the drain function via the long button press on the control panel or app. It's in the manual that tells you how to activate the drain function.mIf not, it won't drain because it thinks you want to just use the internal reservoir to evaporate the condensate but itoverflows if you don't activate the drain function.

Is anyone else disappointed with the ecoflow Wave 2 air conditioner/heater? My recommendation is to use 7 inch air duct insulation to put over the AC exhaust hose. Because the exhaust hose omits a lot of heat from it. Also, the right side of the Wave 2 housing/body gets extremely warm and omits heat. This should be insulated on the inside. And I've noticed the Wave 2 fresh air hose when connected it seems to draw in the hot Texas summer air and diminishes cooling output. As well I noticed the battery life barely works for 2 hours on max before it is completely drained of power and dead! This unit is very overpriced for the performance that it shortly offers.
@Thecoutch
@Thecoutch 9 месяцев назад
A good wrap of insulation around the exhaust hose is a must. I was hoping for better performance when I bought mine but given the fact that it runs on such low wattage it's not too surprising what it actually puts out. Not going to blow anyone away with massive heating/cooling at that low wattage. Plus it's also far noisier than I was hoping for. If it functions properly for a decent amount of time I'll consider it an OK purchase (not great!) but if it dies prematurely then no.

I do have the exhaust vented to the outside-I'm just not pulling in fresh air from the outside. I'm sure that's why I'm getting more moisture as a result. Thanks again for the comments!!!!

@@Thecoutchif you've never dealt with a portable air conditioner, in just 80% humidity, it works like a full-blown dehumidifier and it would fill the tank up within a couple hours at my parents house. My window unit Waters the flower bed underneath it when everything else turns brown and dies😂. The water is just condensation coming off the cold coils that the air is blowing across to cool your space. Bringing an air from the outside wouldn't matter as the intake and out flow of exhaust are are on their own closed-loop and they are being pulled through from the back and blown out the front is a separate closed-loop. Basically this unit has two completely separate closed Loops just like a window air conditioner does or a traditional outside whole home central air unit. No air from outside ever comes inside just a coolant that flows through a radiator that has air from inside your house blow acrossed it to cool it
@FRERABRETZ1
@FRERABRETZ1 10 месяцев назад
Yes we had the warm air exhaust going out and the intake air on the inside as far away from the cooled air exhaust, this way as the air does start cooling the intake air is going into the machine cooler and cooler as time goes on, it makes the machine more efficient.

You do know of the setting in the Wave 2 to choose called the 'no drain function'? Maybe that was switched ON causing the drain not to operate which caused the onboard water reservoir to overflow in high humidity environments.
@michaelgalaxy
@michaelgalaxy 4 месяца назад
Your ecoflow is *not* installed correctly. This unit functions as a split system (in a box) and the rear exhaust and intake are a separate *closed loop*. Both rear intake and exhaust are supposed to be vented to the outside of your camper. Lots of people are installing this completely wrong.
@davidpalmer9780
@davidpalmer9780 4 месяца назад
I agree with exhausting the heat outside via the 5" pipe but I disagree that you must intake fresh air from outside. These's nothing wrong with intaking air from inside to cool it further down. This would be seen as operating in recirculation mode.
@etc-and-more
@etc-and-more 4 месяца назад
These things don't produce heat if the intake gets air that is less than ~44 degrees F. That is why people don't run 2 tubes and try to get intake air from inside. This is not like a split system that works in temperatures that are in the teens or even below zero for some units.

Thank you for all the useful comments. Part of my problem is that I don't have a smart phone and therefore no app. I have to do everything manually and the manual that they send with product is sparse at best. I have had no further drainage problems once I created the larger opening and have also more properly insulated the exhaust hose. Works fine now-had it running all night on the high setting with just battery power!

The manual actually tells you how to activate the drain function that allows the water to flow out from the internal reservoir via the supplied hose. You don't need the app to turn it on.

You ruined your unit by drilling that piece.... that is for the pump to automatically discharge the condensate..... You do know that it does have an electric pump that can pump the water out a window, in a sink,ect.... If you're in high humidity using a c , or dehumidifier turn pump on in the app after connecting drain hose.
