My fuel filter comes in tmrw. Hopefully all goes well with the install, but thanks to this video. I have a way better understanding on how to install it.
Seriously- echoing the other positive comments- this was a very well done video. Love the explanations, pace, and attention to detail. thank you so much.
Just finished replacing mine 👍🏻 thanks for the help! Having the cabriolet I had to remove a lot more than a plastic cover. The fuel spilling was pretty stressful and dangerous make sure to take a few breaks for fresh air 👍🏻
Going to attempt this one the cabriolet just bought. Stressing though i dont think it was ever changed and might need new connectors, Any advise would be great
Very helpful review before I change mine. Filled with fuel from local store, misfires now think this may be the problem. Multiple misfires on the diagnostic
You guys have saved my family hundreds of dollars. Your videos are very informative. I will be buying the next few parts I need from your website and possibly even more, thank you.
Hi, thanks for good explanation, i have a problem disconnecting the pressure tube while changing filter on A6 C6, it does not want to come out, can somebody give any idea?
I removed the rear cables at the same time and not sure if I connected at the corresponding hole on the filter. Does it matter where they connect to? As long its a rear cable and connects to either one on the back?
Hey @ECSTuning there should be a warning about the high pressure in the fuel lines. When I removed the back connector, outer fitting first, I got a face full of gas sprayed at me. I expected some fuel to come out and had my catch basin ready, but this was tons of pressure
I have an A4 Quattro Cabrio 3.0 that cut off while I was driving. It now is still not starting. Im pretty sure it has something to do with the fuel filter or pump. My question is what would your suggestion be on getting replaced first? The filter or the pump?
Hey ECS I changed the filter on audi S4 and mileage is worse than before. Is it possible that it can be worse due to not connecting the lines to the right holes.
I got a code on my 2008 Audi A4 B7 base "P2293" Fuel pressure regulator 2 performance I was wondering if is the same procedure for my b7 The regulator looks just the same bt mine onle have 3 plugs and no 5 Please let me knw and much thanks in advance
I drive an audi b7 a4 codes P0089 fuel pressure regulator performance 1, no start at all. I replaced the regulator, car starts and then dies. Replaced high pressure sensor and high pressure fuel pump, still no start. Guessing its the in tank fuel pump?
Extra tips: 1. some auto parts dealers are calling this the fuel pressure regulator (make sure it has 4 connections) they gave me one with 3. 2. to decrease amount of fuel from lines you can open the gas tank cap on your car to relieve some pressure. 3. another optional step is to remove the fuse to your fuel pump, run the car, and let it die on its own. this will draw more fuel from the system great vid though
Same procedure for 2004 Audi S4 B6 4.2L. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL. The car might automatically door-lock while you work on it during heavy gas fumes. It may create a spark. So this is why to disconnect the negative while we perform this. Fuel inside of the E\J evap purge valve line indicates a failed regulator, or sputtering, dying, long cranks, too rich bank codes, take a picture before you remove the lines so you're certain they go back. : )
I have replaced fuel filters before and essentially I was just researching location. But that has to be the most idiot proof video to date. Thank you very much
GREAT video guys, how did this get dislikes?! You should make another video just of the fuel filter cut open, and name it "Audi lifetime filter exposed after 100k miles". That's some great hidden info/examples in there. Love the removal/install technique too. Cheers!
all things considered, He would have to take the same filter showing its PN and cut it in the video and show it; otherwise, it's not an authentic claim.
Bought a pair of push pin pliers 30degrees ($10) at Harbor Freight after hours of fighting to get a connector off! Pliers took 2 minutes- strongly suggest~ saving you from broken connectors. This is a great video and easy to view all of the connectors! My son and I did this and it was the original filter from 10 years ago! Car started up and ran for 2 days then it wouldn't start again at my son's school, had it towed home. I am a mom doing this, not a guy. Any ideas why it would run for 2 days and now it sounds like the same issue when you turn the key. 2005 Audi Quattro (The car was not starting prior to replacing filter.)
+gracefralick Possible fuel pump issue. Need to do some diagnostic testing to be sure. The pump is not cheap, I would recommend testing it in accordance with Audi procedures first.
Where is the fuel fuse in the right hand a4 1.8t b6? Would it be advisable to remove it to clear gas in the fuel line before replacing the fuel filter?
you want to depressurize the fuel line. pull the fuse in the D/S door side panel its a 20AMP 3rd up on front side (IIRC #28). Check your diagram in the cover plate for fuel pump. Then you want to release pressure in fuel rail. there's a type of black cap on the firewall side of fuel rail. remove the cap (dont drop it) and use a small screw driver to gently push in (1/8 inch)the stopper in the rail to release pressure. Put the cap back on the fuel rail (before you lose it). Then you can try start the car -but it shouldnt start as you have no fuel pump engaged and release the fuel rail pressure.
I have an off-topic question. I am considering a 2004 1.8t, and was wondering how to eliminate/mitigate how the engine revs fall slowly between shifts? Is it due to a heavy flywheel for some odd, emissions compliance issue, or would a new software chip make a difference? Thanks for all replies! :)
Took me a while to figure out dem damn clips. I was squeezin the shit out of them then pulling. Just had to push in press the little band with my thumbnail and pull :p still a little tricky
Correct job! Thanks Folks! 30 minutes befor I have bin changed the F filter at my A3 2.0 T Fsi. All the same , but You dont need a 25 Torx just a + Screwdriver
There are many reasons that a car could be having surging and rough power. A fuel filter is a good place to start if it hasn't been changed within the recommended interval.
I changed my filter just minutes ago I tought the lines were just attached by pressure but they have CLIPS! that you need to push to release the filter, I almost destroyed the connectors until I noticed this -_-
hello im having a problem with my a4 2002 1.8t, I replaced the fuel filter and also the fuel pump and the car still stalling after 15min of car is running. and also I get a weird noise coming from fuel filter do you know what could be the problem?
I got a wrong filter when i ordered it seem it fits only quatro i have 1,8t a4 2003 with four connections for the filter.. the filter i got has 3. Can i still use it or will it be really wrong with one host disconected?
Advance auto is showing this as a fuel pressure regulator. They said the fuel filter is a non serviceable item in the tank. At least that is for my 2009 A4 Quattro CAEB.
***** thank you guys!! You are correct. Thanks to your video I was able to safely and precisely replace my fuel filter. Ty once again you guys are pros.
A more accurate answer is: on B6 platform models, the fuel regulator is inside the fuel filter, not on the fuel rails; that's why is very important to get the exact replacement fuel filter code. The B5 for example, have external fuel regulator and it's located in the fuel rail, behind the engine...
yeah... just attempted this job. broke every single fuel line fitting on the filter. I now have a new fuel line going through my rear floor because 'german engineering'.
I got a code on my 2008 Audi A4 B7 base "P2293" Fuel pressure regulator 2 performance I was wondering if is the same procedure for my b7 The regulator looks just the same bt mine onle have 3 plugs and no 4 Please let me knw and much thanks in advance
No at all it kind of made it better tho... Bt i find out my car went into limp mode... If u dont knw what that means... That means a huge pain in the ass... Is almost imposible to diagnose a limp mode... And theres no way knw to reset it... My car runs great as longest i dont step on it U knw i dont go over 3rpm bt if i step a bit too hard in it My car start acting like it had bad gas Or is no getting enoght gas And my tranny wont shit and everything and i mean everything start shaking
