😄🎶Yes, very nice Song, was the first Countrysong I loved and still until today after many Years. Evenso I like your friendly Comment and is fine to feel a bit like an old Legend, smile with best Greetings from Germany😊🗺...
Damn this sucks. One of the singer/song writers that was what "country" was and should be. I didn't know he died until now. Just like when many others pass its just a sad day. They just don't make them like they used to.
I was just a young teenage girl back in the 80's, and I have been a huge country music fan since I was 13. I'm 52 now. Ed Bruce had a voice like no other. I seriously doubt that there will ever be another country music artist who sounds even remotely like him. I am so glad that I grew up in the 80's. In my opinion, 80's and 90's country music is the best. Today's so-called "country music" sucks - for lack of a better word. Ed Bruce will be terribly missed. There will never be another Ed Bruce. He is irreplaceable.
I’m a little older than you and this story hit real close to home for my cheating ass. Substitute Florida for Tenn. and I lived the words to this song.Ed Bruce was the best. You never heard anyone who could cover his music. He could still sing late in life. Your comments were spot on.
He is the sound of opening titles or ending credits, the voice when you look out the window of a bus of an inner city as the world speeds by. He's inhuman, a part of nature not a mere mortal
You're a stupid fucking rightest. We need to ban all guns and open borders with Mexico. This racist music doesn't help anyone you know? Maybe you should educated yourself and realise we need to abolish the 2nd amendment.
@@sergosakhamberidze7309 lol did you ever learn about the Texas Revolution or Mexican War of Independence or American Revolutionary War,and this song never said anything racist if anything the music that people listen today is more racist then ever
I can name several unsung country legends. Gene Watson, Jim Ed Brown, Leroy Vandyke, Johnny Rodriguez, and recent ones I can think of is Garth Brooks. You really don't here much out of Garth. That's why I just enjoy You Tube. I get to here music that you can't on any other web site. It is a pleasure to search out these old songs. Most of these singer/song writers are from Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri. I find this interesting about these song writers.
he is actually from Northern Arkansas a little town called Statesville which about 5 miles from the Mississippi River and 30 miles south of Arkansas/Missouri line. but he does sound a lot like he is from Texas and Tennessee mix
Not to split hairs, but I read that he was born in Keiser, Arkansas. Perhaps it and Statesville are neighboring towns. A damned good singer, even if he's from two PLANETS away!
Real country back in the day, an old bar dive in the middle of nowhere, pool table, cold beer, with some Ed Bruce, and the Bellamy brothers on the jukebox. Simple memories are missed the most.
A real country singer & cowboy. Nowadays Nashville wouldn't have a thing to do with him. Country music will never be the same- the 70's & 80's were the best.
No, the 70s and 80s were the last of the best, a downturn that ended the great American class of music. It consisted of bluegrass, country, western, and soul. It was uniquely American a class of music that will never be duplicated.
You sure don't hear this kind of music in the current "country" pop bubble-gummer stuff they try to pass off these days. I'm thankful to have lived in the BEST of the Country/Western music years. Thanks for posting this.
I first heard this on a station called 107.7 The Lake, in Missouri. The station is long gone, but these songs, such as this are real gems. Ed Bruce has done this one which I used to look forward to hearing during my night shift driving. It makes me just miss the girl I had been married to nowadays. When I first heard the song, I hadn’t yet met her.
I’m from Canada. Love this mans voice. Me and my wife spend a month or six weeks in Texas in the winter. Love going to luckenbach tx. Listen to the locals. Ed Bruce rest in piece.
I was a young trucker when this song came out, I loved listening to DEAL country while on the road weeks at a time, retired now, old 76 KW, 400 Cummins in the barn restin' for show only!
I loved his music and it was evident from my listeners they loved him too. From Melbourne Florida, Goldsboro North Carolina, Mobile Alabama and others in the 70s and 80s, Ed Bruce was loved and will be missed. Thanks Ed Charlie Monk...play me some Ed Bruce!
What an incredible voice this underappreciated man has! I could listen to this song once every hour for the rest of my life, I think. My very favorite song of all time! I only wish his CD of "The Best of Ed Bruce" was not so expensive!
in a 2012 interview, Ed Bruce said this is his favorite of his own songs...even though he no longer was with her. It's one of my all time favorite songs. My husband was from Texas (he passed in 2007).
Though no Texan, love this song by the legendary Ed Bruce.. exemplifying that "classic" Country voice. On my list of songs to enjoy... Such a calm artist, when 'calm' is now on the "endangered list" of music today.. September, 2016.
My first taste of Texas had blue eyes and golden hair and lived just west of San Antonio. Great song, as it evokes wonderful memories. Nothing like a Texas girl!
no one ever sang a more heart breaking song than mr. bruce.these current "country stars" should listen and emulate this man and his emotions! try to create such beauty so simply so profoundly.thank you mr. bruce!!!
My first taste of Texas was my beautiful Mexican woman in Houston who happened to be taller than me. Best week of my life was with her, cruising the parkway and walking the malls. I will always love her with all my heart, and though I'm so far away, I think of her always... And how things would be if I never left and never acted like such a fool. Won't name names, but if you ever see this, I love you with all my heart. I always will.
Thanks for sharing this song , heard it on the radio the other day , and I thought wow now that was back when country music was country music unlike so many of the songs they call country music today , it's great to hear songs that I grew up listening to .
My first taste of Texas didn't have blue eyes and blonde hair, she was a Tejana. Since then I've been through two wives and this little Tejana still has my heart. It's been almost 40 years since we met and I don't think there has been a day gone past that I haven't thought of her. Thanks for this song.
