in my opinion, this is one of the greatest country songs of all time. it is truly overlooked. ed bruce had a great voice, he ranks up there with don williams as the two most underrated country artists of all time. it's such a shame. thanks for posting this song.
I woke up this morning, 5/21/2023 wanting to hear Ed Bruce sing This Is The Last Cowboy Song. I listened to it, and have been listening to other songs of his all morning. Mr. Bruce was very underrated as a singer but I think his popularity may grow as younger people discover him, thanks to places like RU-vid. RIP Ed Bruce. You were truly a man's man.
This is one of my all time favorites. I thought it was Don Williams the first time I heard this. Man, this is truly a classic! Ed Bruce and Don Williams are the greatest!
Love this mans voice and songs remind me of my recently passed husband of fiftyfour years. We danced to Eds songs as newly weds in the sixties, what wonderful memories!

His only #1 but there were 5 or 6 top tens. I played in his band back in the mid 80s. My favorite was If It Was Easy... but there were lots of great ones . What a voice...
I think I was five or six when he came to our small town pop. 5000 and performed at our county fair. His voice takes me back to a better and simpler time and place. Got to love Ed Bruce.!

4/1/23: Snowed in (no April Fools joke) and watching Ed Bruce as sheriff on an episode of Maverick while listening to his greatest hits playing on a loop in the background. Each time You're the Best Thing plays I pause the TV to listen to my very favorite song by the best country singer ever. I'm not even hating the snow so much now. His voice and these lyrics will stand forever.
