For what it's worth, the deadlift is usually done raw. Wearing a squat suit or deadlift suit while deadlifting does not give you much. I've done with suit and without. The weight is still the same... And yes, Ed is one of the best lifters of all time...

agreed. Chuck V is THE MAN, but Ed Coan is THE LEGEND. Some of Ed's feats will probably never be equaled in our lifetime, such as his 901@220 deadlift, or his 2408@220 total, both which were in SINGLE PLY. You can't compare the two.

you know whats crazy too, he still had more in him. im guessing a 950 squat, 545 bench, and 840 deadlift. crazy he still got it :D

I had the honor of seeing Ed squat 1019 several years ago. It was deep enough in any fed. You will be missed Ed.

@muzimuzi he has done 584 shirted and 545 raw in comp. he has done 565x1 raw in the gym and has done 555x2 in the gym raw.

I dont get it Coan is a living legend... he has nothing left to prove who gives a shit if he lifted his head... go check his records and remember he didnt have the gear we have today...

It's normal. The posterior chain (all the muscles used for squatting and deadlifting) is much stronger than the muscles of the shoulder girdle. If someone's bench is near their squat and deadlift , then that person has disproportionately weak legs.

But it all depends what federation you are in, USAPL you cannot lift your head or use a thumbless grip
