I like how Ed’s psycho power has a blue tint instead of purely purple which is the colour of Evil in SF

According to the PlayStation blog, Ed has had his kicks replaced with flicker jabs, so now he’s a true boxer character! I can’t wait, and I also can’t wait to see what his critical art looks like.

That is cool that Ed takes inspo a little from Balrog, especially since Balrog raised him as a child when he was meant to be a Bison clone. Maybe he picked a couple things up from dear old dad and learned from his mistakes (like not having a cross-up).

FINALLY, HE IS A BOXER! He reminded me so much os Steve Fox from Street Fighter vs Tekken.

I've been saying that most of the SF6 have been highly upgraded from they once were in SF5 and Ed was no exception with him having to incorporate most of his former mentor Balrog & even Dudley's moves with his own of psycho power. Can't say I played Ed before but I always fine him interesting and him having some potential and surly enough he has it in SF6.

Also I don't know how (maybe you'll mention it in your breakdown) how nobody picks up on this game have ruined stage (which is the final boss stage in sf4 with Seth). They even have Mini seths in the video, but I haven't seen a single person comment on it in any of the reactions I've noticed, and then you mentioned SF5's stage. I'm having a mandella effect moment here. This has me excited as hell, whomever is in charge of (and the team carrying it out) are brilliant at character design. Ed, AKI, Rashid... have all been phenomenal re-imaginings. It makes me excited because I think this very well could mean that Seth is coming to the game, and he'll be incredible given how they've approached character redesigns so far. Also, if we remember, Ed's lore is that he was like an orphan boy that was last minute rescued as people were escaping an exploding Shadaloo base.. (Balrog's SF5 ending I believe). This orphan boy was, like Falke (which means we might see her come back too which would be cool), both part of a clone program or something for M Bison to inherit if I can recall correctly, but Balrog/Boxer finds him on his way out and semi-raises him, hence his influence on him, but oddly enough it seems that even though he was raised by Balrog, he secretly had some stepfather in Dudley, teaching him all the moves /throws rose over shoulder. 17:55 it's hard to notice but in slo-mo you can see that Ed eyes in Super level 2 becomes solid white. I think it's also in his Super level 3. Psycho energy now more strong in him and maybe it's even corrupt him.

Ed definitely looks much cooler than his SFV version. Interesting choice to remove his kicks completely and giving him some of the tools that define some of the current top tier like the backsway and an invulnerable wakeup. Very cool mix of Yamazaki Serpent Strike/stance and his old V-Trigger 2. He looks fun!

This is the best Ed trailer review on the internet by far because you actually dissect his moves and gameplay instead of just 'reacting'. I think worth noting that his forward throw seems to knock them very far, like Juri, which is great for corner carry if his DR goes far enough for follow up Oki. Superman punch combo also seems to have good corner carry (and swag!). I will be interested in whether 123 corner pressure is still there like in SF5, and how whiff-punishable flicker moves are. I'm a bit sad about how brutal his fireball breakers are. Throwing a fireball against practical anybody with Ryu is so stressful in this game.

It makes me wonder if they're going to do a kit rework to Falke down the line as well?

Cool analysis! I haven't played SF5 but i think he looks cool in this game. Im still waiting for a potential Makoto since she looks so cool in 3S, but i am well aware of how infamous she is because of that game lol. Still, its nice to see how well they've been designing these new and returning characters in some exciting ways, and if they are getting things right with Ed, which i heard many times people saying he's boring, i wonder how Akuma will be received.

I'm new to Street Fighter and fighting games in general, never heard about Ed, and here he looks like Steve Fox moved to Mass Effect universe and became a Biotic. Neat, I think he may be my new main in this game.

Its Crazy what good animations and move design can do to your perception. I would've NEVER guessed I'd be hyped for Ed of all character, but he looks super clean. Still not a fan of his overall design ofc, but holy does he look good in gameplay

I just redo Ed Story in SFV and they told that he's a clone created by M.Bison and Balrog found him young but they tell that he is growing Ultra Fast. I think that why they went with the "Sick" Look, red around the eyex, skinny face, etc...

That stuttering on the YT video happens when it's set to "Auto" because is changing your resolution on the fly. Just selecting a set resolution should prevent that.

At first i don't like Ed's character design in sf6 but after see him in motion and his gameplay he looks kinda sick ngl Capcom really did him justice.

For those that watched Hajime no Ippo will notice that Ed is using the Hitman Style with those flickers. Capcom did it's homework

They turned him into a shoto for controls. That kinda defeats the purpose of his SF5 moveset. That said, the command dash moves remind me of Kolin from SF5 too. He's definitely a hybrid of various moves and styles to make his unique take. What's most interesting to me, they went from a very simple moveset as a beginner character, and while he has a lot of cool options now, he seems like a much more complicated character to master given how many moves and the types of moves he has now.
