I love this podcast so much. It's refreshing to hear David and Ed talk about Christianity and the church with transparency. A lot of Christians have become very much like the Pharisees in the bible where they put on the face of righteousness, love, grace, etc. but deep down they don't really live out the gospel. Christians tend to turn a blind eye when injustice occurs. I struggle with resenting my church because of the crap I've been put through. Much love to David, and especially to Ed with his journey of forgiveness. Thanks for this episode.

I appreciate that Ed and David tackled forgiveness. I have for a long time thought that something was wrong with me because I still feel the same hurt when thinkg about past betrayal and events. But to know that others experience that is nice, I'm working on bwinf at David's level of peace
these church stories w/ David and Ed are my favorite. the struggle to reconcile christianity w/ all the bad churches/christians is REAL and something i've also been struggling with. on a side note, i wonder if Ed is going to share more of the story about the seattle christian artist/rapper? i think i used to know this person and am pretty curious 👀👀

Its so damn refreshing to hear these guys talk, legit almost therapeutic. I shouldn't feel hatred towards the racist people of my past at my age (30's). I have great friends of various ethnicities and still there is this seed of anger in my mind that sprouts randomly each day even when I'm having a great day. These experiences are damn near impossible to get over, especially when you go through it as impressionable kid/teenager. You know this is in the past, you know they we everyone was at point immature ignorant kids, but the mind is a funny thing, it doesn't let go even when you know you are in an immensely better place in life.
Well said David. I realized too that a lot of relationships ended in 2020. Everyone was on autopilot going through life and once quarantine hit it really made people realize where their lives were. It opened eyes
I'm with David on hating being angry. I can count how many times I get angry on a yearly basis on one hand, but because I get angry very little. I do a 360 and become a complete monster. When that happens people compare me to feral dog and say that I become very scary. I don't ever want people to be afraid of me. I now try to reason with myself on what I'm angry about l, is silly and just laugh instead of being angry.
I haven't kept up with the podcasts since I was busy and this is the first time watching in like a month haha. But I just wanted to say thank you David. For the podcast. For the stories. For the guests. For the learning experience. I also wanted to thank you for telling us about Betterhelp. I did it because I've been looking for a therapist but have always been extremely nervous and uncomfortable with the whole face to face aspect. Church hurt is what can be one of the biggest reasons to lead many to backslid but never give up on having an intimate relationship with the Lord and savior Jesus Christ. People will fail us but He never will! At the end of the day nobody is worth going to hell for. You're in my thoughts!
LOVED this episode but also found it so disheartening with David and Ed’s experience in losing faith in Christian people and Christianity. What I have taken out with forgiving people who don’t deserve it doesn’t mean that I blindly trust people again because I don’t put my trust in people. I put my trust in God, but that’s just me! Also the Phil Wickham topic SHOOK me bc his last album was so good & I love his music too. Anyway, love David and Ed :)

Ughhhh. I relate to this so much and had no idea…… I don’t have so so much anger that it takes over any part of my life. But i definitely have resentment and anger towards “church”, the people and that entire concept. It’s definitely still hard for me to accept Christianity and church because i haven’t addressed those resentments and this episode really helped me acknowledge that i need to address it and put it behind me.

What if I tell you that Christianity =/= Christians? The faith itself has nothing to do with the people practicing the religion. If the people practice the religion wrong, misinterpret the verses, use the religion to further their self interests, that's on them as sinners, and doesn't reflect fault in the religion itself. If I drive a lambo and I crash cuz I don't know how to handle a rear wheel drive supercar, does that mean the car is the issue, or the driver?
Great Episode David! You are absolutely right about anger! When I get angry, I feel stupid haha!! Also, anger scares the fuck out of me. Even when people argue on top their voice, I immediately become a little kid again and being terrified. Anyways take care dude!!

That time I actually knew exactly who the the people Ed spoke about were. My best friend went to Louisiana to do the internship at that Pastor’s church. She was there when his wife died and she’s also no longer a believer.. I used to LOVE Judah Smith and that Pastor and now it’s like- YIKES. Also can we talk about how quickly that dude remarried? His wife didn’t even have time to be cold
Do you think its easier to hold back your anger than to forgive them? Because the solution to anger is to just walk away and never see them, but forgiving them is another...

Random thought. What if Ed keeps meeting these types of people because he's supposed to tell them about themselves. I mean Jesus and the various prophets simply told people about themselves. It's not sinful or arrogant to say, "you are not living up to the Christian standard due to XYZ." (Unless you act the same way... then it'd be arrogant and hypocritical.) You don't need to forget the things done, just forgive them.
I don't know whether you guys watch Korean dramas but you guys should do a review on the Korean drama Traxi Driver. You guys brought up the topic of justice in the beginning of the video and I'm curious as to what you guys think about the drama.
Thing about Christianity now is that people assume (or the people themselves believe) that being a Christian means that you’re perfect and that Christians believe they are perfect. Not what the Bible says. Bible says we all fall short of God. The only one that is perfect is God. Being a Christian doesn’t make you a good person. Doesn’t make you better than no one. Makes you better than your old self bc you have Christ now. And if you don’t wanna believe that, you have every right to believe its a lie because you have free will.
I hope to meet you one day David cause nothings better then real ass raw conversations to make people think more in depth and intellectually. I’m 24 and I can’t even hold a good conversation with some of the people in my gen or younger because their values morals and virtues is all shit.
