The most important, that he wanted him in front of the audience. When I said forgotten, I didn't say by looks, because he did recognise him. I meant as a friend, as it's not easy to forget your friends, especially from school, as you can see from how shocked and surprised Ed himself was.

The only way I'm able to recognize childhood friends is because of facebook. Otherwise I wouldn't. Nobody can at first sight.

I don't think that was it. I think Graham Norton picked up on the fact his friend could have been nervous and it may have meant more to meet privately back stage then just to show the world your keeping up appearances.. I would not have liked to come out on the coach!

apparently when you book tickets you can tell your story for the red chair thingy. so that story wouldve been fun to hear even if ed wasnt on the show at that time. some producer probably contacted him after he booked tickets and got him to come when ed was on the show, so it was nice for ed to reunite with a friend and it made good tv as well. nothing super secretive about it, imo. would be pretty much almost impossible to have that as a coincidence.

It's not staged as in Ed was acting, but it was setup so that Ed could meet his best mate again which he didn't even know about

not necessarily, I think most people has "best mates" while growing up and then their lives just go on different directions and the friendship vanishes.

He also couldn't see because he wasn't wearing his glasses and was far away from the monitor. I'm also nearsighted and wouldn't be able to see/recognize my current best friend on that tiny monitor from the end of the couch.

Meghan Ng I understood it to mean that Ed being a vegetarian thought the sausages were so good as he assumed they too were vegetarian sausages as not ever having the real thing so the mum lied to cover up that fact. The mate even apologized even though it was 16 years later. So the story was to inform Ed that he actually ate real meat and to say "sorry".
