ONLY LIKE THIS COMMENT IF YOU KNOW: Did anyone else watch Stritch here and realize that in her mind, this was HER way of being able to recreate her experience of watching the Black Drag performer at Ruby Bentley's? This was Elaine's way of re-imagining "I want a Long Time Daddy" for white audiences. Not that I'm mad at it. I get it. But as was said in the movie "Grease," "if it were a snake, it would've bitten me."

@@jimberg3088 ...You previously posted Jane Morgan doing "It's Today" with the Broadway cast of "MAME" on the Ed Sullivan Show. I can't find it & I was wondering if you know what happened to it? I was in the "MAME" cast & performed in that tape. It's sad to see it just dissappear off of RU-vid . I also did "Pickwick" & "Darling of the Day" on the Ed Sullivan Show....but I don't know if they're still on the Internet . You do great work bringing Broadway history to everyone. Thank you so much.

I read that her mother and father were watching in Detroit, Michigan. When Ed Sullivan mispronounced her last name, her mother got up and left the room and did not watch her performance. I think Elaine may have taken after her mother just a wee bit. The book “Still Here” is an excellent read about an extraordinary life.

Florence Henderson started as a Broadway soprano in musicals like Fanny Laurie in Oklahoma She made South Pacific The Sound of Music and other musicals. She also sang in the tv Bell Telephone Hour .She was more than Carol Brady (1934-2016)
