Mastering the "out and around" part of the Skagit cast is the turning point for many people's journey towards better casting. In this segment, Ed Ward breaks down this concept, which is critical in the constant tension/constant load method of casting. We hope you enjoy!

I have seen TONS of Spey casting videos, Ed is the only one who always shows you how to do it in the simplest yet very intelligent way. 👍

Ed is great at explaining these casts. I have been teaching my nephews how to cast the last fews years and I struggled to explain it to them even though I have been doing it for 27 years. I watch his videos and it helps me tremendously to teach my nephews. I send them the video links but at 11 and 16 years old they don't seem to want to watch casting videos🤣. Teaching them on the water though has been a blessing for me. Knowing how to cast is one thing, teaching how to cast is a whole new ball game. Huge thanks to Ed and OPST!

Ed, great to see it laid out on the ground like that. Very helpful. I have learned that your style casting with weighted flies casts much better.

Sorry to ask a dumb question but when Ed says 45 degrees. I’m thinking he means 45 degrees behind you? Then drift around upward. This was a topic of conversation with a few casting friends and we had a difference of perception of what Ed meant.

First 😅 what would you say is the proper definition of the drift for Skagit casting?
@OPSkagit
@OPSkagit 10 месяцев назад
What do you mean by "drift"? Are you talking about rod drift?
