I purposely fish the Kitimat when the chum are running. Not many people on the river and nothing but action all day.Strickley catch and release fisherman so they are perfect for me.
Man what reel is that one Ed's 3 weight? I have to have one, that thing is absolutely gorgeous. I love your products, I have 4 heads and half a dozen tips, rod wraps and reel cases, and a sick hat 😅 Much love from the Great Lakes.
Received my new SHS rod. I’ve owned to more than a few rods as I’ve been at this for a long time. I can honestly say this is a top of the line Skagit casting beast!!! Thanks Mike for the time you spent chatting with me and shipping the rod so quickly.
I can identify with you Mike as I love my Great Lakes steelheading. I was able to swing for steelhead in BC and was wowed by the water clarity and the scenery all of which made for a great experience.
Thanks for the video Mike. I’m an OPST guy for all the reasons you mentioned. Throughout my day of swinging I always encounter obstacles such as trees overhead or deep high banks that keep me pinned the the bank, with my OPST rod and line I’m able to cast were I wouldn’t be able to otherwise.
Great info Ed, can’t thank you enough for your videos. I will apply this to my swinging. I love watching you cast!! So much for me to learn from just watching!
What’s the difference between these D2 tips and the Micro Skagit Sink Tips 7’5” 60 grains - apart from the extra 7” and 4 grains, which seem negligible - on a single hand rod (thinking 6wt 9’ rod)?

Well explained. Now, let’s say I have a 9’ 6wt and I want to do a little indicator nymphing with a big size 8 or 6 tungsten head stone nymph (small to medium sized steelhead). What would be your choice of floating tip length and leader?
Thanks for the news Mike. I own several OPST rods and enjoy them very much so it’s always great to see something new coming down the road from a great company.
Great tips and presentation. One question: in your OPST recommendation chart for 8wt swich you would recommend 325 grain. Here you are using 450. Is it depending on the rod action? Greetings
Very nice tie 👌 For much smaller sizes, you could maybe try the Ryugi Infini Hobbit Offset Wide Gap Worm Hooks - down to #8. You’d have to adapt the tie though as the shape is slightly different. What size/weight dumbbells do you use with the #4 hook? Cheers
Now we’re talking 👍👍 A very common situation and a great way to deal with the issue. Nicely explained - and filmed. And just one spool change away from switching back to floating dries. Excellent. Any recommended tippet length to complement the 5’ sinking micro tip? Cheers
I’d love to spend a day on the water with this guy. Just an encyclopedia of fishing knowledge. I’ve learned countless things from his videos over the years. And it all works!
Magnet box in the frame with a spare key is a life saver. I locked myself out of my car in the middle of nowhere in 15 degree weather and had to break a window. No cell service. Drove right to an auto zone and got a frame magnet.
Folks, just throwing my two cents in. I know you’re excited to show off a new product(been there, it’s exciting and fun to see your customers reaction) but! I think the excitement got the best of you here. Presenting in a monotone blasé fashion, no closeups of the product. I know, i know, you have a prototype in your hand(that’s my point). When you have your product dialed in and ready, make your video and announcement! You will get a smashin response for sure. Sorry for being that guy but I really dig what you guys are doing and just feel like this could’ve been way better than what it was. Btw, a good friend will tell you the truth, a bad one will tell you what you want to hear. 😉Go get em tiger🤘
@@TimBorrego-kh1mk nah. I am a buyer and have my eyes on the SHS. Just gave some constructive criticism, I got nothing but respect for OPST. Without them, most of us would have never heard of skagit! 🤘
as with any rod these days... what's your warranty/replacement program... even if not a warranty - how easy or difficult will it be to get a new tip section if you were to break or lose one?
