His arch on his service motion is beautiful. Everything working in sync.

As a kid I rooted for edbeg and his style was the main reason why. So classy and cool. Also serve and volley is just bad ass.

I think i recall arthur ashe saying edbergs service motion was "not to be copied"
@miguelbarahona6636
@miguelbarahona6636 6 лет назад
Arthur also said about himself, that other players should not copy his continental backhand grip and use eastern instead.

The odd thing about Edberg's serve here is that he doesn't look at the ball when he makes contact with it. Many pros do this.
@thebigmonstaandy6644

yes.he put his head down to early. a lot of feemale tennisplayers did it. this is not good.

Want to switch to this to save my elbow. Want to come around more like a cricket player than a baseball pitcher. Wish I could find better info on injury susceptibility and various grips for all the strokes.

like this footage there are several instructional videos about this matter, but more important is the tennis coach opinion or view about your serve motion (who actually can see it), and ground strokes, etc... so, you should ask for professional advice. and a fitness trainer may help also. Good luck!

Subtle differences in every stage, but the easiest to see might be where he hits the ball in relation to his head. In the first serve the ball is almost straight above his head when he strikes it, in the second its way behind him (to the right of him from this view).
@johnsmith1789
@johnsmith1789 Год назад
watch the first serve where the racquet face meets the ball directly (flatter serve), and then on the second serve the racquet face brushes it at an angle more, instead of meeting it head on. There is a trade off, if you want more speed you have more direct contact, if you want more spin you have less direct contact and more "cutting" of the ball

He did. He had to change his motion. In 1988 he had to make a more upright move (withdraw from AO 1988 after beating Pat Cash)

@thebigmonstaandy6644
@thebigmonstaandy6644 Месяц назад
yes. he ended his carier also very early. Same for Sampras or Roddick. Kyrgius or Sampras serve without so much shoulder rotation are better
