440C is a "Soft Stainless Steel" & when Spyderco put VG-10 in a pocket knife, they pretty much started the "Super Steel" revolution as it's known today. True it may not be as hard as Cruwear, but it's not as likely to chip like some harder steels. Way better than any Gas Station knive that was ever made IMO. Mine have lasted years compared to 9 months like the aforementioned cheap knife. LoL
Very nice review! I have had my Delica 4 for years now. It’s a great everyday knife. I think the one con now is the price. As you mentioned, the Delica is now approaching 90 bucks, and with VG10 steel and fRN handles, that’s bare minimum. I purchased mine for about 60 bucks (the right price point). At 90 Olaf’s you can effectively get the Spyderco Chapparal (might be spelled wrong) for 10 more dollars. A better overall knife, and comes from the revered Taichung factory. Much better option.
I've never owned a Spydie, but will have the Delica, it seems to be my favorite one I've seen. I do think Spydie's are overpriced like Bench, but I feel like I should have at least one in my collection:) I'm a big fan of Cold Steel, Civivi, and of course OKC Rat 1 & 2... As well as a few off brands for affordability, thinking about Ganzo's or something
Spyderco overprice their knives in a huge way year on year. I've WAS a Spyderco fan since back in the 90's, in the last 7-8 years since the "EDC boom" their prices have been a joke year on year, now they're just not worth the money and I'd encourage anyone to NOT get sucked into the Sprint Runs. Take some time and do more research would be my advice.
