Nice! So over Thanksgiving, my Parents gave me some photos they found that I took while in the Navy. One of the things I noticed was the fact that I had a pen and a notebook in my Left Shirt Pocket, like you showed us. Back then, I was REQUIRED to carry one with me while I was on Duty. We called it our "Portable Brain". Funny thing, I'm still doing the same system as I did back then. Yep, my Portable Brain goes with me every day. FWIW, the picture was taken in 1978! Gee, I was doing EDC before they created the Concept. Oh, one final thing. Upgrade the 5C. I had to retire mine a couple of months ago after Apple decided to NOT Support it anymore AND the Stuff coming over the Web doesn't want to work on those "Ancient Phones". Take Care.
That little sharpening rod is awesome! I have 2 of them now! The blue ceramic straightens your blade like a Steel and removes a tiny amount of metal! Its The little V notch is not worth much if you have any form of stropping, like a belt.
Great EDC.. I can remember a guy at work his kids were making an EDC kit, so I gave him some stuff that I had replaced in my EDC. Sure made them happy. Thank you for showing us what you carry.. I do like that Swiss Army Knife. Thank you for the video, James
Great to see your video quality evolving. You are definitely taking it to higher level. Your content is well thought out and explained. Do you EDC all those items daily? (I.e. work, shopping, etc)? Or do you change it up if your not out in the bush?
Love the video, the Guadalupe’s are beautiful, where about were you? I read an article by an old timer who traveled through those mountains (and other ranges in the SW) and always wanted to see that range. Yeah, out there a pistol might be a good idea. You don’t have to pack a small howitzer, a small .22 Ruger Bearcat would do fine, but a single action on your hip would just look “right”! You’re so lucky to live in that part of the country. By the way James, I am making a Survival/EDC type knife, and was wondering if you’d like to test one out?
My core edc doesn’t change. My seasonal edc changes for winter are various types of jackets and/or vest combinations. Extreme cold weather may necessitate breaking out my Arctic Gear while the extreme cold weather lasts 1-3 days. I do have an EDC winter & summer hats. Your EDC core largely reflects my own.
It's interesting for me to see your earlier videos and the development of your carry systems. I'm enjoying catching up as a new subscriber. Keep walking.
Great blending/transitions on the clips and two camera views, I really thought the moving in and out kept my attention on a live environment and was smooth. Audio was clear. Well done video, good job on the EDC show n tell.
Very nice video James... great visual and sound quality! I cud tell the difference, also noticed no captions of song titles... kinda nice. Awesome tunes tho, suits ur videos well. Liked the upgrades/changes to ur EDC, n love ALL the knife choices too! Great to hear u are gifting gear to young uns! U are a hero to him!
Haversacks.. i don't know.. i think a small backpack has got to be way more comfortable.. maybe not as "bushcraft" but who cares.. i just recieved a lt wright gns, saber v3. I will be using it the mountains of Washington state all weekend!!
That high desert is tough on skin. There is a reason the Albuquerque Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center is a busy place. Wide brimmed hat, Blue Lizard mineral sun screen, long sleeved shirt. Every day, even in winter (you're still a mile high with thin air and lots of UV rays, even if it's cold).
P.S. - Carrying a concealed knife bigger than a modest pocket knife is a crime in NM. Petty misdemeanor punishable by up to 6 months in jail and a $500 fine. So let the world see those beauties, don't hide 'em!
Nice video. As usual, the music matches perfectly with the setting. Do you have EDC choices for cordage, container, and cover element? I couldn't tell if you were still wearing a paracord bracelet.
Nice one :) Hats are a necessary piece of kit down here in Australia and sunglasses. I liked the music. Reminded me of Red Dead Redemption hahahaha. Take care. Craig
James you are such an awesome spirit and kind hearted soul.. Your always so proper and thorough in your description and manners. James you are the quintessential MAN I wish more people would strive to be like you. As always love your videos and content stay great brother dont change a thing!
Thanks, i truly appreciate your time and effort in your videos its very inspiring and motivational. And to see your kind acts makes me wish great things for you. God bless.. also where can i send you a gift??
@@JunkyardFox I have a mountain of great gear, and hoarding problem lol jk but seriously im a little late but would love to send you Christmas gift if you would like to exchange email or something please do i know you would be very happy;)
Great job, brother! If a the foundation of a system works, don't fix it, just tweak it 😄 Quality was excellent, I like the dual camera setup, and can see you really doing some cool stuff with that. The constant slow zoom/pull aways were nice. Benefits of having a camera man 😉👍 And that final shot... Sure your last name is Harris, and not Marsden? Haha
I really like all your vid and how you make them. What about doing a bug out vid series you can go over bug out bags and Transporte and stuff like that I hope you would do it thank you for your great content
Excellent video, James. The picture was super crisp and sound very good. I could tell the difference. I see you still don't have the winter version of that summer hat, though....ha.
Great video! I think the only real change I make in my EDC between summer and winter is that my Stetson or ball cap get replaced by a ball cap and beanie combo.
Your local area looks so much like the arid areas of Australia. I can very much relate to it. The Australian desert get s very cold in winter much like where you live.
"He's like a saddlebag with eyes!" Seriously, hats are great for keeping that pesky melanoma away. Check out Sunbody Hats out of Houston, TX as well. 100% Guatemalan palm leaf. MUCH better than any straw hat as far as durability and ease of shaping. Great video. Maybe a bit more light in the shadows of the trees.
Awesome video!!! It's so Kool, u said you were in the Guadalupe national Park, I have a sister and bro-in-law that live in the park. My brother in law works for the park service and lives near the park service facilities shop. Kool video!!!
Metal Mountain Man Tilley hats are good. They keep the sweat out of your face good but after the dealings I had with them over sizing I wouldn't buy another one.
I am working on planning a hike to the Guadalupe Mountains. I would really like to climb Guadalupe Peak. When in your opinion is the best time to hike Guadalupe peak?
Glad to see your wearing a hat to protect your skin. Sunscreen will help block UV rays reflected from the ground. I carry a Laplander saw, Silky's are very popular right now, do you carry a saw?
I love your channel compadre, good informative information, how can I buy an album from el cuervo negro?it's a Christmas gift for my amigo, he's a retired music school teacher so I'm sure he would enjoy the guitar.
I want to buy a Hidden Woodsmen M44 haversack I saw on your channel, I have been waiting for my stimulus check to purchase it. I saw it on sale a week ago from your review , can I still get that sale?
13:33 - If it's raining, you have bigger problems. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like all of your clothing is cotton. The saying goes "cotton kills" because when cotton gets wet, it ceases to insulate and takes a very long time to dry out. I'd recommend Columbia Silver Ridge Lite Long Sleeve and Wrangler Performance Lightweight Outdoor Pants. Just a thought. Enjoyed the video though and subscribed.
Junkyard Fox I bought a Wenger Wood because I saw it with you. I've seen each of your EDC videos 20 times and I'm thrilled. Wenger was now taken over by Victorinox. The knife now calls Victorinox Ranger Wood 55
Nice video....some thoughts.... 1) The quickest way to become dehydrated in the desert, is to NOT wear a hat. 2) Did I miss it? No gloves??? 3) No side arm? I and my fellow desert rats never walk on the Devil's Anvil without one. 4) Water? ATB from Tucson ;-)
I keep forgetting the laws in some other States. I live in Arizona and we can carry covealed or open without permits......down to even city parks. Sooooo...please define a National Park. National Forest? What?
No can carry in a national park, you just need a license to carry for that state. Even law enforcement if off duty need a license to carry inside a national park their ACT license doesn't not cover them in a National Park for some insane reason.
