December 6, 2007, surf guitar legend Eddie Bertrand of The Blairs and Eddie and the Showmen interviewed by Tiki Tena on Clint Beachwood's a day at the beach on KCR radio San Diego. Eddie passed away on October 27, 2012. He asked that this interview not be posted till after his death. Nothing controversial here. It was just his wish.

I remember well being at Retail Clerk's in Buena Park around 1963-64 and Eddie and the Showmen were there. Mr. Rebel would always bring the house down and I never tire of hearing it. Eddie was a guy that gave so much and never really got the commercial credit due him. I'm watching his interview for the first time and remembering those days. What a loss to the music world when he left us.

That was just phenomenal. At the end where Eddie is asked about the Surf Guitar 101 web forum, his gratitude and disbelief at all the interest in him is very clear. I definitely got choked up a bit at that point. What a beautiful spirit he was, and it comes shining through in this interview. It really is a celebration of his life, which will continue to resonate among all surf music fans for a long time to come.

Surf City Video Many thanks for posting this...I just started really getting involved with surf music the past couple of years altho I have been surfing since the '60s and loved it back then but now since I started playing guitar again and taking lessons, I got my instructor involved with surf music and it opened another "door" for him.I enjoyed the story about Leo Fender...that was really great. I have all Fender stuff here. I built a Fender 5F2 amp (hard wired) and also a stand alone 6G15 reverb unit (hand wired) which sounds great. I hate solid-state and circuit boards units.R.I.P. Eddie Bertrand.

In the late 1960's Eddie and I worked day gigs together at Wallach's Music City in Orange co. California - He always wore that nice smile, RIP Mort Weiss

The caption to this video references "Eddie Bertrand of The Blairs." NO, should be The Belairs. Had me going for a second there.

"Celestion Patriot" - he means Eminence Patriot, and I think he means the Commonwealth model
