I can die happy. I've got to see and hear Eddie Bertrand live. Thank You.

Eddie Bertrand a Surf Guitar legend he could make one see the Surfers riding waves on their boards with that guitar. He made it look so easy playing that guitar. The true professionals have that magic gift. He is right up there with the best like Dick Dale. Did he ever see or play at Waikiki, Beach Hawaii? He would have jammed the area where the Hula girls dance and sing or near the Royal Hawaiian Hotel Courtyard by the Sea! The crowds would have been phenomenal listening to him and the Showmen perform. Paradise for you Eddie rest in peace. Your music and recordings will live on into eternity and should be in the Surfers Hall of Fame in Huntington Beach Surfers Museum at the Pier in Huntington Beach, California.

1977 or '78 at his long-time girlfriend Linda's place. I'm there with a '58 Bassman and a Telecaster. She and I sit back in the love seat while he grabs that Fender, sits on the amp three feet from us and does a half-hour concert (vocals =and= guitar) that tore through the Beatles, the Stones, the Who, ZZ Top and a lot of other stuff you wouldn't expect. All done =ACE=. The guy was a monster, and we miss him.

One of the best surf guitarists ever, Eddie Bertrand backed by one of the all time epic surf bands,The Eliminators. They did a few shows together and were off the hook yet no promoter wanted to book them. How shortsighted. Now Eddie has an untreatable terminal cancer. This was one of his last live performances.

Friends of Eddie Bertrand.... It is my sad news to report that Eddie is entering in to his final days. He has a week or 2 left at best.
