According to Doyel Shamley who knew him...Bill Cooper was asked by local police to watch the cul-de-sac near his home.for kids who were drinking (as they often would do and cause a lot of noise). 2 plain clothed officers made a lot of noise from that area and hid, when Cooper came out with his truck, they tried to jump out and arrest him. Cooper turned around and drove to his home, got out of his truck and was gunned down in his front lawn before he could get to his weapons. They did this because he had already said if anyone came for him, that he would defend himself.

The problem with Eddie is that he's right, but it's never the whole story, so he thinks he needs to discard older ideas when he encounters new ones. It's all true, in parts. The stories get beefed up over time and become unbelievable, on their own. But, they do work together, if you can decode the big picture.
