I find ancient philosophy and traditional practices fascinating in terms of psychology. I understand that, in many respects, these belief systems have shaped communities but, I also recognize the harm it has bestowed as well. I'm an atheist, secular humanist but I still appreciate those who use their religion for the greater good.

Well put. I still think religion has nothing of substance to offer Black that can’t be deduced and said better by other means. In fact, I believe our willingness to accept religious terminology, definitions and concepts into our collective understanding has left us open to more sinister behaviors that don’t serve us. I would say that this issue remains a problem religion has brought to American culture regardless of “race” (because we all know that race is construct that wasn’t designed to serve all humanity equally)

I can appreciate this video. Our people are waking up. I come from 3 generations of Baptist Christians. My wife and I have broken the last bond of slavery....Christianity. , NIV: "Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ." , NLT: "Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ."

I get this, yet still have an issue with the term "slave" vs "p.o.w./prisoners of war/indentured servants."

Kwiz jordan If we were called cheese sandwiches it wouldn’t change what we went thru...it was the action not the name that caused our trauma... but everyone has a unique viewpoint, and from an individual perspective, it’s not wrong...ljs

The term African American can be genuinely considered to those who were forced to America before the 21st Century and shouldn't be used today, I'm a Black American. While I understand the terminology, it shouldn't be confused by early Africans forced from their land.

Christianity, Judaism, buddhism, or Islam etc. are not African religions. We need to inquire deeper to discover the true African religious beliefs.

Islam was marketed to African American as African religion but it is not. Islam like christianity was an oppressive religion towards Africans. Africans were spiritual people, we had traditional spirituality as a life style founded on two main principles. TRUTH and HONESTY.. We lost both when we were forcefully converted christianity and islam.
