I'm loving the best friend interviewing the best friend! Eddie doesn't get enough praise for how he never really switched up on the black community and tried to help many black actors and actresses that were not really known.
He’s the king of the black movie....his movies transcend race which sounds corny and stupid but its true he’s the one true black actor that can lead an all black cast and the movie will do numbers worldwide
I liked that too. Usually, people made fun of him. The man was an excellent child actor going back to Good Times. Life couldn't have been easy for him with his illness also surrounded by leeches.
Just happen to stumble across this and everything Eddie said when the conversation got serious has relevance today! This aired in 1992 and here it is 2021, almost 30 years later!
Right? I was watching the night it aired....For weeks afterwards the ET shows were all over Eddie's comments. But, he was right then and he's right now.
Distinguished gentleman was such a good movie ahead of his time and really exposed government like no other did in 92. Boomerang all black cast doing their thing Eddie and Martin ruled my youth as a 80s baby
@@osaji922 He says it in the interview. He said “read your Bible” there are forces much higher than us that are controlling the minds of people. There’s our physical realm and then there’s a spiritual realm we aren’t aware of but have access to through prayer and time with God.
Eddie definitely surprised me in a good way by his views with voting. Makes you wonder if they tried to sabotage his career with those rumors about him because he was at the top speaking like this..
Then interestingly enough, a few months after this interview he stars in the movie called ‘Distinguished Gentleman’ which is pretty much exposing the inner workings of government officials in a comedic way. It’s funny that now that movie is hard to find anywhere.
Man!!! Im putting it out there Eddie and Arseno need to have a talk show!! Their chemistry is just so natural and entertaining and you genuinely feel the love and respect they have for each other! Even still today now that they have grown and matured and experienced life they still have that same energy with doing promo for Coming To America!! I love them and I want to see it happen!!!🙌🙌🙌
I’m here after cole told his mom that Gina makes more money than Martin.. and tommy said cole telling your momma is like putting it on aresenio the night Eddie is on 🤣🤣
My mom always loved Arsenio Hall. Growing up when this talk show was on mom watched every night. She’s in her 70’s now and when she sees him on TV she can’t believe he hasn’t changed at all. She still loves him.
Amazing how I can't watch full episodes of this talk show anywhere online or on any streaming service. Especially considering how groundbreaking it was. I mean at one point this show was one of the epicenters of not just black culture but pop culture. Everyone wanted to be on here to the point that you even had celebrities either in the crowd or backstage not even scheduled to appear but just hanging out. The 90s really is the greatest decade!
I like what Eddie Murphy says here because he's telling the truth but he was a man ahead of his time especially when it comes to the whole voting aspect and politics. He's very smart.
THANK YOU. He was very much so murdered. His "parents" stole his money. His common law wife was a clown and should've been charged. He's resting now though
I actually agreed with Eddie 100%. I’m not voting just to vote. Look up “benign neglect”. That is a tactic that had been used against black people since the 1970’s. Lol at “took Eddie’s ass to school”... 🤦🏾♂️
@@massdagod guess what, that's your right to not vote, but guess what: the people in power will definitely still be exercising their right to vote and stay winning. What people who don't vote fail to realize is that there are more issues at stake than just who becomes president. Issues and items that affect local government are also included on those ballots, so yeah, keep falling for the okie doke and refusing to participate. That's exactly what they want you to do...#stayignorant
I get what Eddie was saying and most people feel that way but you can’t not do anything and expect change. Voting is one of the most powerful things we can do collectively to make our voices heard.
@@TheFabulousLV I thinking RUNNING FOR OFFICE AND VOTING is the best thing we can do collectively. If I ever vote. I’m voting for someone who has set aside for black people ONLY. Not only that. I’d rather vote independent. I think voting just to vote is DAMAGING. Because they know they don’t have to promise black peoples anything.
@@exoticcarfactsofficialchan7050 I think voting just to vote is DAMAGING. More damaging that not voting. Because they know they don’t have to promise black peoples anything. Every race got set asides for them except us. Why would the Democratic Party give us set asides if they know we will blindly vote for them? They already count our votes because they even run. THATS IGNORANT. THATS falling for the Okie Doke.
Eddie was spitting on here. I put my total trust and governed only by God as well. #TheIllusionOfChoice #StillRelevantToday #GodsWordNeverChanges #AndNeverFails
This is amazing! I love Eddie Murphy. Thank you so much for this! I remember reading an old article (dated around 1999) that spoke of Eddie and Arsenio no longer being friends bc of this ep. Apparently, Eddie was uncomfortable speaking about politics but Arsenio continued to ask him questions about the subject. I believe they didn't appear together until Eddie guested on Arsenio's new talk show. idk how much of this was true. idk how much of that is true. Eddie and Arsenio were nearly inseparable in the late 80s and early 90s but idk if they appeared in anything together for nearly 2 decades but this could also just be Hollywood gossip.
That sounds like gossip considering Eddie Murphy came back on the show to promote his album in 93 *Love's Alright* and Vampire in Brooklyn. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4clzlkd8qoE.html So them not speaking to each other again until his return in 2013 can't be true. As far as the politics subject goes Eddie handled himself very well. He didn't seem flustered and explained his point very well. Kudos to Arsenio to ask him a question like that. It shows a real realness to not only the talk show but their friendship as well. That's something that is lacking in today's talk shows.
I think that was just gossip. Eddie's interviews didn't even seem like interviews when he was on Arsenio it was literally two friends talking ish and cracking jokes LOL
@@truthhurts3305 very good point. Seein the interviews now they’re kind of annoying. All the laughing and carrying on. In other clips, between Eddie’s silly laugh and Arsenio sweatin him, it got silly. IMO.
#AWKWARD... Eddie gonna cuss Arenio out when they get backstage..... 8-6-24 Good to challenge friends and give them another way to think and to be open to possibilities.... #RIP GARY COLEMEN... #SendingLoveAndLightToEvery1 #Namaste
Never knew this side of Eddie Murphy... so amazing to see... this gentleman knew what was what and wasn't terrified to state his beliefs... and smart enough to know when to pause and not get labeled or as they say now "canceled." .. Eddie Murphy... Hall struggled through this one... and uts supposed to be his friend... made this interview awkward af
That was a really interesting interview, seeing a very different side of Eddie Murphy. I didn’t know he was so spiritual, I like seeing that side of him. What he said about politics is real. Although I agree with a lot of what he said, Arsenio is right about the need to vote. The Black voter turnout was instrumental in getting Biden elected.
Eddie didn't like Arsenio asking about his stance on voting. In 1996, Eddie told a Newsweek writer, "I was like, this ni@@a is crazy. I gave him this damn show and he embarrasses me like this. . . I made that ni@@a -I made him. How I held it together to get through that show, I'll never know." Obviously, their friendship remains and I look forward to watching Coming 2 America. www.newsweek.com/king-comedy-reclaims-his-crown-98571
It’s VERY easy for Eddie to say he doesn’t vote. He’s financially successful! He hasn’t been broke since he was 19 years old when he worked on SNL! I respect his opinions though. I wonder if that “Yeah” Foundation ever pan out.
Yeah. No doubt, and as far "God" sorting all of this out, I guess "God" will sort out whether Eddie was with a prostitute instead of his wife or if he in fact was, "Just giving her a ride home" years ago. Remember that?
@@BCTTV_DTJ Til this day, he NEVER spoke bout what was goin on that nite. I guess we’ll never what happened. I like the Eddie of today: mature, been there, done that. Not doing that fake stupid laugh anymore. He’s more of a man than the cocky guy with the dumb laugh. This clip he was in transition.
@@BCTTV_DTJ Transsexual prostitute, let's not leave that out. That's what makes the story explosive, especially considering his earlier gay jokes. He was (allegedly) in an area KNOWN for transsexual prostitutes, but he just happened to be giving one a ride...🤔
2 Billion Dollar Man Movies Like Beverly Hills Cop I II And III Trading Places Coming To America Vampire In Brooklyn 48 Hours Another 48 Hours Norbit And Raw That's How Many Money Does Eddie Have Including His Latest Movie Boomerang
I know Arsenio annoys the hell out of Eddie sometimes, lol. i remember the one night honor show , Arsenio tried to bring Eddie up to do stand up and Eddie is like this dude, just honor me and shutup, im not doing no stand up tonight, lol
Eddie seems very erm ..flamboyant lets say in this interview ..in fact both of them seem extra flamboyant ..if i didnt know better i would say they were intimate together
Coming 2 America should have been Rated R instead of PG-13 the movie looks funny but it has the wrong rating. Eddie probably should have left the Coming to America sequel along with that stupid PG-13 rating i hope he doesn't do the same thing with Beverly Hills Cop 4 I hope it's Rated R and I hope that these stupid new directors Adil and Bilal doesn't direct Cop 4 because Bad Boys for Life was garbage.
