“Ted... You do realize that according to the unofficial code of big brothers, that I should expose you and your friends’ vital organs to daylight.” _Love_ that line.
Around the same time this aired on TV, i had to expose my brother in laws brains to the Light of Day. He pulled a knife on my sister, while she had his children in her arms. Situation was unavoidable, and I regret it. But i am grateful i was there for my family. Blessings to all...JB
@@BrotherDerrick3X they would be begging for death by the time I was finished with them if it was my sister. As Palpatine would say: Don't worry. I'm not going to kill you... I have OTHER uses for you with a evil laugh
“Ted, you do realize that by the unofficial code of big brothers, I should expose you and your friends vital organs to daylight.” Holy shit that was dark. I love it and I’m totally using that.
Well I have two younger brothers and two older brothers all are protective. My two older brothers were popular and I was liked by association. When we were in the same school, everyone knew not to mess with me. I was somewhat a little nerd so having a cool big brother helped.
My older brother was a gang member and I never had any problems at my school after he beat a guy that was bullying me when I was a freshman..he came to campus with his buddy and beat they guy senseless with umbrellas..back before school security was supermax
they were ALSO in high school themselves..youre tough, I guess you would have showed them huh & I said it was raining-they didnt NEED anything; trust me
I got two older sisters and two older brothers on my dad's side and they are very overprotective of me when it comes to girls but sometimes the roles are reverse fuck wit one of them fuck wit me
@@RashadSims-bh3zz What if one of your female friends started talking about scoring with you among her female friends and they all laughed about it? How would you feel and would your sister step in and say anything to that female friend of yours? You do realize that sisters are supposed to care about their brothers as much as vice versa, right?
It truly is amazing when u see things like this. It shows kids that no matter if you get along or not with your siblings...when it comes to other people dissing family...you set all those differences aside and you are ready to go to war for them. I have seen that with my daughter and my niece. They tend to butt heads A LOT....but one time when we were all at the park, my munchkin saw another kid messing with her little cousin trying to take a toy of hers and when my niece wouldnt give it to them, the kid pushed her. I just heard a loud "HEY! GET AWAY FROM MY COUSIN!".....oooooo boy my kid was ready to throw DOWN!
One of hte later run episodes has Carl and Eddie get into a fight, and when Harriet steps in to mediate she says the reason they argue so much is because they're basically the same person. They both, in the same tone of voice and at exactly the same time, deny the truth of that statement. Carl Jr. indeed.
The Sibling Relationship in a nutshell: They'll pick on each other, drive each other crazy, and say mean or stupid things to get on their nerves just for shits and giggles. But as soon as someone outside of the family tries to do that to one of them. Oh Lord, when the other sibling finds out, there will be hell to pay!
Absolutely! I have 3 sisters and i will bug the hell out of them, fight them, and go pure crazy....BUT....let someone else try to have the same privilage.....your safety is NOT GUARANTEED! 🥊🥊
I remember telling a guy my sister was serious about to be good to her, and my sister was surprised that me as her big sister said something. It was a bit of out of character for me at the time even though we were grown women.
Trust me, If Im Eddie, im doing the same thing he did. No questions asked and i dont have blood sisters but i do know some friends who are girls who are like sisters and i would do this
This was one of my favorite shows next to the Cosby Show. This is when Black male actors were masculine and about respect, not like the bs today like Empire.
I loved how both Eddie and Steve stood up for Laura after the rumors were spread about her in their own ways. I just wished Laura believed Steve at first instead of thinking he was just being jealous and stuff when in reality he was trying to help her as her friend - she would realize that Steve was indeed right a bit later. Eddie was being a great big brother here even though he and Laura have their moments of not always agreeing but he is willing to look out for his sister in many ways.
And why would she think he'd say something like this just so he could go out with her? Steve literally went to the very same dude she's with and told him to ask her to the dance. Essentially getting them together. While Steve may not want them together, he still got them together because her happiness matters over his own. So why would Steve up and lie to her here for his own benefit? Makes no sense. Even Steve urkel, as persistent as he is, has his limits. And what really irks me here is that she gives him a half hearted apology at the end. It didn't even seem genuine. Just a "well I'm sorry Steve". Laura always says how Eddie always thinks with his hormones rather than his head and that is true with her as well. Steve deserves better man
I think it was hard for her to except that a guy she really cares about would hurt her. Also, Steve did chase away her other dudes. She went into the kitchen for drinks and while she gone, Steve said she had an incurable disease. Steve was possessive over Laura for a bit in the earlier seasons and extremely jealous so I could understand her reservation. I am glad that she was mature enough to acknowledge that she was wrong.
I know exactly how Eddie feels. I have a baby sister. And I'll always defend her against anything and anyone. Don't ever play loose with a girls reputation just to boost your own. Real men don't do that
Eddie was such a good big brother. He was about to bust that dudes face until Laura came in and grabbed her brother and calmed him down. Eddie the man.
In Real Life the order of events would have been: 1: An utter beating from Big Brother 2: Forced confession in front of as many people as possible 3: An apology to the Little Sister in front of witnesses 4: A second utter beating from Big Brother 5: A healthy fear of Big Brothers instilled in the creep 6: Creep having nightmares about the Big Brother for the rest of his life
She does. Immediately after the end of this video, the scene continues where Laura hugs Eddie, thanks him for sticking up for her and being a good big brother, and that “Mom and Dad would be proud.”
It's good that Eddie stuck up for his sister.Ted shouldn't have made his friends think he had sex with Laura. What Ted did was wrong. It was great Eddie defended Laura.I don't think Ted's a bad guy.I think Ted's a good person who just made a bad choice.Ted didn't want to tell his friends he had sex with Laura. When they asked if they had sex,Ted was like grow up.Then his friends were like they had sex.Ted made the mistake of not clearing up that misconception. That's what happened in the episode.
Nope. imagine had this show had Social Media in the 90s, Weasel(Ted's former friend) posting that on his twitter page and Laura's humiliation when she read that post. I'm sure Eddie would've been very pissed off by this and confronted not only Ted, but also Weasel for the post.
Dear Hollywood, Whatever happened to shows like this? I know we can't go back in time, but before the 90's there were shows like One Day at a Time, Happy Days, Leave it to Beaver. The shows today just don't compare. Not too many with iconic characters like Steve Urkel. Sure there was a level of them being unrealistic, but that were enjoyed and their messages captures. We need good tv like this for our youth today.
I totally agree with you! But unfortunately by the 90's, viewers apparently wanted more maturity within shows, such as drinking, sex, violence, etc. I think this was one of the last shows to focus on more important matters, hence the name
iamjefferson17 I already know that Darius wasn't on their! And by the way, Cockroach was on the Cosby Show as Theo's best friend. On This Video,Weasel was the Teen in the red,as Teds best friend.
I had just graduated from high school when this show started airing. I watched it through college, when my husband and I got married, we laughed our butts off every week to this classic and all the way to the very last episode. I loved watching Steve and Laura's relationship grow from friendship to true, deep unconditional love. I still love this show to this day and so wish that there was more family friendly programming like this show on tv these days.
Exactly, I grew up with 90's Family Sitcoms Full House, Family Matters, Fresh Prince, Step By Step, Sister Sister, Smart Guy, Blossom and even Home Improvement
TV shows are smarter now and they know that boyfriends and girlfriends ARE SUPPOSED to have s3xual activity (otherwise what's the point of dating?) Or they are not really in a real relationship. TV Shows these days don't want to insult their audience's intelligence.
So Edward stuck up for his sister Laura, yet Laura never stuck up for him. Instead, she treated him like complete trash, even worse than how she treated Steve Urkel. Laura was an asshole. There were times when Edward's dates were dickheads to Edward and left Edward over practically nothing, yet Laura never stood up to them for how shitty they treated him. Sure, Edward may have been an annoying, clueless, whiny, irresponsible character throughout the series, but his sister Laura didn't treat him decently at all.
It was more like he was angry at Ted for the rumors and wanted answers from him. Being more intimidated by Eddie, he confessed it was a lie that Weasel and Jim started to make him the big man on campus. Ted had a normal date with Laura.
I like how when laura was crying and harriet and rachel came back from their jogging and exercise routine, and harriet asks Laura if anything is wrong and why Laura is sooo upset, Laura confides to harriet that rumors have started going all over school that she Ted did the "horizontal polka" together. And harriet responds to that "Is that what I think it is?" Harriet knew what laura was talking about and wanted an honest answer and when laura said "no" nothing happened, it is just a rumor, harriet believed her. that's how it should be in real life too. there should be open and honest communication instead of jumping to conclusions.
I know right. big brothers are the best gift a girl can get in life> I have a big brother. they are the best thing ever to grow up with. I remember when one of my classmates threw me into a locker just as my big brother was coming around the corner and he told that guy if I ever catch you throwing my sister in the lockers like that again. you'll be going into the dumpster.
Fun Fact: On the show, Eddie is 2 or 3 years older than Laura, but _in real life,_ the actress who played Laura (Kellie Shanygne Williams) is actually _older_ than the actor who played Eddie. (Darius McCrary). Kellie's birthdate is March 22nd, 1976 and Daruis's birthdate is May 1st, 1976, making Kellie 1 month and 9 days older than Darius.
Another fun fact. Darius McCrary has a brother who played in a couple of episodes Kenny "The Spider" Jackson his name is Donavan McCrary he was Ricky as a kid in the 1991 classic film Boyz N the Hood.
I don't Ted's a bad guy or anything, but he did one thing stupid: he allowed his friends to think he & Laura had sex when they asked him, but if he said he didn't, he could've cleared the misunderstanding up to stop rumors from spreading.
This reminds me when I was in 6th grade my little sister was in 4th grade and on Fridays all classes had a meeting in the auditorium. While the classes were piling in I saw my sister class coming in and she was crying. So I got up from my section and walked over to her and I asked her what was wrong she said 4 boys were calling her ugly and making fun of her stutter (my sister had chronic seizures that affected her speech when she was younger. She has been seizure free for about 10 years now but they were random and laster for seconds to minutes). I asked her to point them out and they were all sitting in the same row laughing at ME! Calling me dumb and I'm thinking to myself are u really about to talk about the person that about to fuck you up lol so I went to them and I gave them a warning because I honestly don't like confrontation never have, I told them she was my little sister and to leave her alone they just looked at me and laughed not saying nothing, I turned to my sister I said if they say 1 word to you or about you tell me, and before I could even walk away ome of the boys imitated my sisters stutter I turned around with the fury and punched hik in his fucking mouth the other 3 stood up and I beat they ass too, the teacher grabbed my by the throat and pulled me off them dragging me out the auditorium. I got suspended for 2 weeks and my dad was about to beat my ass but I told him why I was suspended and my sister came home crying and told him what happened and instead he bought me the Michael Jordan 45 White Sox Jersey and a pair of Jordan shoes #14.
Exactly. I agree with you how Ted's a nice guy who just made a poor decision. Ted never told his friends that he had sex with Laura. The mistake Ted made was not clearing up the rumors going around about him and Laura. Ted wasn't bragging to his friends about having sex with Laura. His friends kept pressuring him to tell them about his date with Laura. Ted didn't want to lie to his friends about having sex with Laura. When Ted's friends asked if he had sex with Laura, Ted told them to grow up, and as soon as Ted said, "Grow Up", it caused his friends to think him and Laura had sex.
I'm pretty sure there a kim kardashian in that school walking around in there, willing to give it up to anybody, with a bad reputation, why couldn't he get with one of them, why ruin a reputation of a good clean wholesome girl like laura?
Because a girl who was fast and fresh would've not been good for this particular storyline. The episode is from season 4 and is titled "Rumor Has It. " It touched upon how guys are eager to talk about their accomplishments with girls, peer pressure, and how certain misunderstandings come up. There was an episode in season 3 titled, "The Love God. " That episode featured a fast girl.
Steve was able to steal every damn scene! Damn I miss Friday nights in the 90's..... Family Matters, Dominoes pizza, and Nintendo w/ ya boys all night!!! Oh to be a kid again!
I never understood the part where Laura thought Steve was lying about the rumor that was going around, Why would Steve lie? Come on, Laura, Steve is TRYING to look out for you...And you accuse him of lying to you?
This was and still is my show! I miss the 90s I'm a late 80's baby that grew up in the 90s best era ever! There's nothing like the 90s I wish I had a time machine I would have gone back to that era
As an older brother myself I can confirm that that code is legit. How it is implemented is left up to the brother in question; but it ultimately remains the same: someone messes with your sibling, they suffer for it... a lot.
EDDIE is from the WESTSIDE of CHITOWN....had to have some G in him somewhere lol..I have 2 sisters...twinz & they are the babies with 4 brothers..& we pulled some stuff like this in our day on guys who would come visit them
Same thing happened to my lil sister. I did beat the shit outta of the dude. Spent 3 days in jail for it but it was worth it but Eddie taught me how to be a great big brother love this show
