That was really nice of you! When I was about 10 years old, I went down to the beach after a hurricane ended and saw waves starting to push a seagull into what was left of the dock down there. It was trying to get free but couldn't fly or out swim the waves/current, so I took a chance and made my way to the end of the dock and was finally able to catch the gull before he slammed into the dock again. I ran home with this huge seagull in the palms of my hands. He was still able to flap his wings a little, but he could not fly. We fed him/gave him water whenever he wanted it. We made a big box with an open top for him with a towel in it. We took really good care of him for about 8 or 9 days. After a full week, he was starting to fly around the house, so on the last day we fed him/gave him water and then brought him back to the beach. The dock was fixed thankfully, so that's where we let him go. He happily flew away. Your video reminded me of that. He was a great and friendly temporary pet, but they need to be outside. I wanted to keep him, but my parents were right about it not being fair to the Seagull. I can't believe that was almost 32 years ago! Sorry for the long comment.
The story of a man who looks like he's played a bank robber in films. But feeds scrambled eggs to, and rehabilitates, an injured seagull. What a gentleman.
You are an awesome person. I guarantee that Eddie will never forget you and what you've done for him. And I love how you talked to him as if he were just one of the boys haha. Good shit, my friend!
Congrats :-) I found one too, hit by a truck in fligh 2 weeks ago, broken leg, payed surgery, treatment and now I have patient at home. You can check on my chanel.
@albert fish if you think a vet will take in a seagull of all things you're one of the stupidest fucking people i've ever met -- and i'm saying that as someone who owns twitter AND reddit, so i'm already surrounded by pretty brainless people.
Better than TV. Anyone who does this for an animal is a great person in my book. The world needs more people like you pal glad we've got you here in Scotland. Legend for this. Every living creature on this earth has just as much right to be here than us.
Yes, it was like he knew from the moment I rescued him that I was there to help him. It was him looking at me and his head following me as I drove past him that drew my attention.. I'm glad I could help.
Thank you bro for sharing this great rescue story on your video of how you helped out this little seagull. Nice to see love use the right way !!! God bless you both !!! 💝👍🏻🕊🦢👨🏻🦱🏆🥇👏🏻
You did a fantastic job with good old Eddie. really well done. He looks like a ' lesser black backed' gull. he was probably a young bird that got into trouble, they can have a hard time surviving these days as they are often persecuted by people.....You gave him the care he needed that saved his life.
Aw well done Vincent. It's so nice to see kindness these days. I live in Whitby and take care of a family of 3. Charlie, his wife and their little chick. They are not ill, I just feed them three times a day so they survive ok. Seagulls are very loyal, so I am sure it was Eddie who came back to visit you. What a smashing bloke you are.
Thank you for the comment, I like to believe there are lots more like me and it just goes unseen.. feels good to help and make a difference, no matter how little 🙂
@@wiggywiggywiggy7961 Once a vicker in Carlisle helped me when I was homeless and then I went to Edinburgh and I got into a coma in hospital and they patched me up and fed me and I was proper Scottish after that! Until some southern b!tch psychiatrist sent me to mental hospital for wondering from town to town and pumped me full of medication against my will. Not sure what the Scottish word is for that but the nice psychiatric nurses taught me a Scottish rhyme to say but I forgotten it! It mentioned the moon I think - was it a poem by Robert Burn? Was he a Scottish poet? Something about the moon I think! Anyway they are much more friendly in Scotland but the milk tastes funny and they aren't shy about locking you up in mental hospitals that haven't moved on much since the 19th century! When I was walked to my ward past the women's blocks I heard women screeming all the way down through the beautiful garden - not exactly good for ye mental health man!
Hes really happy that he can fly. The seagulls love it so much. And he also liked you, because he didnt bite you. He seemed appriciating you helped himand thankful.
Hi Sarah, thanks for your comment, he was kinda mangled at the kerb side, he let me pick him up and sat on my lap as I drove home, I think he knew I was probably his only hope 😊
You're an absolute legend man. Thanks for taking care of wee eddie. Such a great name for him. Seagulls can live for 30 years and so i reckon he's still cruising around. Hopefully he comes to visit you sometime.
bro i love this journey, its crazy even if its 4 years its still great, good luck to Eddie's journey and you did a great job on taking care of him for a few days
He could never forget you ...You are a very special person .Having watched this I'm in tears and bet you shed a few when he took to the sky and all because of you ..Terrific and wish there were more like you in the world ...Have a great week and all the best from Berlin , 👍🍷cheers to you and Eddie :) Helena
I will definitely never forget him, that's for sure, I did have a tear in my eye at the end, that's why I ended it so quickly 😂 thank you for your kind words.. it was a pleasure looking after him 😊
@@wiggywiggywiggy7961 if your experience with Eddie was like mine with Paloma ( a pigeon who'd come off worse with a double decker bus I'd say , the feeling was mutual .) Stay as you are :..🤗
People like this are amazing, dude you got a heart most people think doesn’t exist anymore. Found this right before I go to bed, definitely gonna have good vibes tomorrow thanks to you and Eddie🌻🌺🦋
Hey Lavitica, I just did what I expect most people to do, sadly not everyone has time, Im glad you enjoyed watching Eddie and thank you for your comment 😊
good on you mate...well done...and the commentary you wrote at the end...happy things worked out well...you kinda reminded us all about what's important in life ...being human...and that we shouldn't get too busy to be that
Cheers mate.. My thoughts exactly... Viewed as vermin by most.. but still a little creature with feelings and emotions.. I'd do it again without hesitation.
I love seagulls. There's an army of them living near me and when I put bread on the roof they go nuts. I've named a young one Squeaky because he sits on my roof making high pitched noises when he knows there is food coming up.
What an amazing man you must be and what an amazing story! Good on you mate for saving Eddie and showing that their are a few good souls left in the world. God bless you...and Eddie.
I recently a month ago found a seagull but his wing tip was almost broken off and was unreleasable. I called a rescue and told them his condition and suggested instead of euthanization use him as an ambassador for his species and put him as a educational animal so people can learn from him that way he won't have to be put down and he'll be well cared for, and he can be used learning animal for people. They said that was an amazing idea and they took him from me and thanked me for caring for him
Wow this is such a cool story! Fair play to you! I think seagulls are misunderstood. Any animal that could would get food from bins and chippies instead of hunting.
I've started to see seagulls different since I stopped and helped one that had an injured wing, and that's how I found this video, looking for ones like this and filtering out the mean spirited videos. Seagulls need all the friends they can get ❤️
Might I recommend another great wee video about seagulls, it's a 26 minute unnarrated video on YT called Life In The Colony - from egg to first flight. It's wonderful 🥰
Just watched this again and have to ask how you are ( any more seagulls ? ) Still go weepy along with you at the farewell .Reckon Ella Fitzgerald would have sung a song for Eddie .hope you are well and enjoying life ..Eddie is a part of what makes you a great person .. Cheers and stay as you are ..A big hearted man .🙂
You look like you belong in action films mate 💪 I also have a pet gull but he’s not injured. They love tinned dog food . Mine goes mad for it . Your a decent fella 👍🏻
I stayed in a travel lodge in Scotland last night . When I came out in the morning a gull landed next to me . I said hi Eddie . He said feed me or I’ll get my mate to sort you out 😳 so I fed him 😐😁
lmao, A seagull on caffeine ???... pml.. Love this chaps accent! My Father was Irish, Italian, Scottish!.. Moved to Berkshire England, Married my Welsh born mother, Berkshire! I married into Irish/English blood And have my daughter... She now has a Daughter, with my son inlawtobe :) Also from up North.. Lincoln way! .. Nobody can call us inbred! pml
Eddie is actually a great black backed gull I believe, the biggest kind of seagull! I think he is, it might just be the video quality but his coat appears to be the right colour for it
Good man, I hope edie does well back outside. Im watching this because I also just found a Seagul and have no idea what the long term plan is. I brought it home and have given it oily bread and some water and a warm place to have a rest. How can you tell what injuries it may have? The one in my house is currently immobile and doesnt show any inclination towards walking or flying. Can their Injuries heal quick;y on their own without a vet? Ill try and see if it wants to fly when i take him into the garden of a daytime, but im already looking into having a specialist local wildlife conservationist come and pick him up. Advice on the best course of action would be greatly appreciated anyway. Thanks, Some bloody rando englishman.
