I actually have a little bit of compressor on this sound but in theory you don't really need compressor on high gain sound because the distortion naturally compress the sound. But I think it has a bit to do with how hard you tap and pull of the strings. You can try for yourself. Try to tap harder and harder until you get a good sound. It usally dosen't take to much pressure. Hope this helps!
