Dealing with gas diluting my engine oil I replaced the carburetor, but that wasn’t my problem. Check out the video to see what I discovered. www.summitraci... www.summitraci... www.summitraci... www.summitraci... www.summitraci...
Charlie, that is a sweet running C10 Patina. It is also a gem with 3 on the tree. We appreciate the TLC your giving to that truck. There isn’t many around in this day & age.
Love the content and your truck, I have a 1970 Chevy c/10 fleetside short bed running a 358 with that same carburetor, only difference, mine is an electric choke. I'm running cast iron vortex heads and my engine is mildly built by our local engine builder. I'm thankful for your info pertaining to the tuning of the AVS , I also love the patina of your truck, I'm going in the same direction with the patina look as well. I will be following you on your channel and if I can figure it out, I will send you a picture of my truck and I also have a video of my engine being run in the machine shop after being broken in. The carburetor was installed right out of the box with no adjustment.
Thanks for the compliment. I’ve always used felpro gaskets with no issues. I’m sure the 1204 gasket I was using is a good gasket but it’s not for aluminum intakes.
I just bought an edelbrock intake, and low and behold, they tell you which intake gaskets to use in the instructions. "Use either Edelbrock #7201 or Fel-Pro #1256".
Im using fel pro 1205 intake gaskets on a 350 under an edelbrock performer rpm intake. So far no problems. Intake and heads are gasket matched. Truck is a 69 chevy c20.
I just ran into this issue. I have a 283 in my 68 c10. I put a aluminum intake on with felpro metal gaskets and had a water leak. After reading the instructions that came with the intake it said twice not to use the felpro metal gaskets.
I wish I would have had that issue early on. At least I could have put the correct gaskets on instead of buying a new carburetor just to find out the intake gaskets are bad. Live and learn
Just ordered an AVS2 for my father's old '65 Mustang to replace a rather pesky Holley...thank you for a video that talks a bit about tuning in a concise manner! Do you still like the carb?
I still like the carb. It could use some fine tuning but overall it works great. I think you’ll like it. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks for your support
Great video and I'm definitely stealing some ideas for my wife's 63 Panel! On the PCV,do they not leak? Cool truck and thanks for showing our Savior's mighty name!
I suggest upgrading that 1405 to a 4x4 style set up with the spring loaded float jets like a carter and your check ball under the accelerator squirters to a spring instead of a weight. Because squirter can drip if not functioning properly.
Nice truck . Was curious if you checked fit of intake without runner gaskets and end seals . If block was ever decked or heads surfaced , there can be gaps that run full length of heads . If excessive , the fix is to have intake runner area milled .
those fel pro gaskets are for factory Iron intake , the Edelbrock intake which is softer Aluminum , requires a more plyable gasket , Edelbrock makes the recommended Gasket for their intakes .
Yeah I wish I would’ve known that when I built the engine. Live and learn the hard way sometimes. Only reason I don’t use Edelbrock gaskets is the runner openings are too large for stock applications. They’ll work but I would rather have the smaller port size.
Hey how do you get power from the power switch for the electric choke edelbrock, Avs, carburetor? I heard I can also get power from the fuse box how can you show me plz thank you
When I try adjusting my idle mixture screws, nothing happens. I can’t pinpoint an obvious vacuum leak, and it runs decent when 90% of air is blocked off. So I assume it’s running lean.. what am I checking for when checking metering rods ?
If you can not get it to get rich by backing out the idle jets, the feed for the idle/transfer circuit needs be increased, with out doing that will always have a boog . Note what does your vacuum do if you go up just off idle to 1/4 throttle dose it prop off?
Did you get coolant on your oil when you checked your dipstick? When i checked the engine oil there was coolant in my dipstick and my radiator fluid is is now low. I think my intake gasket went out as well.
@@Chickeneyegarage no im using the edelbrock top end kit that came with the kit. I just went ahead and bought new head gaskets and new fel pro intake gaskets.
@@armygreenfj3924 do you install your gasket dry? I did one time and had the same issue you had. I started putting a thin coat of rtv around the water jackets of the cylinder head. Never had an issue but most gasket companies recommend installing them dry so take my advice as a suggestion.
@@Chickeneyegarage i had it rebuilt at a shop. They are covering it under warranty. I just had to buy the gaskets. I did notice the instructions say to install them dry. Ill take your advice and let them know.
You have to remove the top of the carburetor to access the floats. Float drop is supposed to be 15/16” and float level setting, basically flip the top upside down, you can use a 7/16” drill bit to set it (leave the gasket in place). Make adjustments on the float drop by bending the rear tab. Adjust the float level by bending the arm connecting to the float. You only need minor adjustments. It’s easy just takes a little longer than a Holley. I’m sure there’s a ton of videos on RU-vid about it. If you have any more questions let me know and I’ll do the best to help you out.
I think ur old gaskets r for a 96-02 350 vortec engine probably y they fail I watch vintage iron on youtube and don’t quote me but think he uses them on vortec engines
