That is a great promotion of the railway guys being able to drive a train. I've not heard of it before but I guess it is done elsewhere. Such a great experience and as we saw one you thoroughly enjoyed. Well done Warren. Bushyboy Oz.

I knew the railway was shut for the day but I just did a drive-by to check out the place on my way to another camp BUT the guy saw me and welcomed me in to take a look around. The small team who were meeting were all so very helpful. And I just had to do the "driver for a fiver" too of course. The line is about 6 hours drive away from me so I won't be there again straight away but for sure will be back as soon as I can. Thanks for following along. Cheers, Warren :)

At the time of making this comment I came here today and also did the driver for a fiver!

Fantastic fun. Thanks for the comment. Sure you had a good day there. What was running on the line? Cheers, Warren

I think it was a class 205 that was also running but only the driver was allowed to drive it

Does that form part of the Military line to Warcop Ranges or was that a seperate line?

That is a very interesting question. Looking at the map I'm not sure the answer, and nobody said anything about the Ranges when I visited. I hope to get back to the railway for a proper visit and a ride on a train later this year. Cheers, Warren :)

@@Linleys From what I can remember of my training it would be 1976/7 when I was last up at Warcop and our Base Camp was very close to a stream and rail line, BUT it could be the Ammunition was trucked into the camp. I remember it well because we where "invited" or ordered to lay down in the stream at 5am some morings prior to doing PT, damn it was cold even in July.

@@user-TonyUK Oh wow! I bet the steam was indeed cold! Some training! Gosh!

@@Linleys At least the cold stream woke some of us up before going off to practice Grenade throwing, unfortuneatly one idiot pulled the pin out of his grenade then dropped it, and the Instructor had to quickly pick it up and throw it or I would not be here to type this reply. All part of the Training I guess.
